**Spoiler**

I don't raid, but I do pay attention to the lore, and this new cut-scene is pretty bad ass. Kind of gave me chills.

I kinda expected a bit more chills to run by my spine but sadly it didn't happen. Maybe I'm just not that invested in the lore anymore. Arthas journey is over, but there will always be a lich king. It feels kinda anti-climactic...

Taking care of Illidan and doing everything that lead up to that point felt way more epic to me. But maybe it's just because I'm a big fanboy of his.

Varok Saurfang should have been the successor to the crown.

On that subject - it'll be interesting to see the Horde side of the story.

Actually, Blizzard totally fucked up with this - as both horde and alliance will have separate "they won" storyline afterward.

Ok. and the horde story line will be different how? besides sylvannis popping in at the end saying "REVENGE IS MINE!"

Somehow i wasn't impressed by the quality of the video or the story.

As was mentioned in the previous posts, it really feels a bit like, "Ok you've killed THE Lick King, but don't worry, here's another one for later".
I've only just started reading the Christie Golden books however, so can't comment much on the lore part at the moment.

The video however was a bit disappointing, and although the editing/screenplay is nice, the quality of the rendering is sad.
1. it's all close-ups plans (except the final view of the throne) and 3D toons in close-up just don't work for me (sharp angles, fixed expressions etc)
The images look awesome from afar, but when you zoom in it's just not as good.
2. long periods on faces. Rendering emotions in 3D characters >.< ... plus really Arthas has a retarded face. Play the vid again if you didn't notice.
3. effects are lame. Honestly the fire effects on bolvar are Meh, (apart from the first glimpse of his hands when he first appears) the rest of the body could have used a couple more hours of work to have a smoke or glow effect of some sort.
4. compared to the wrathgate cut scene for example, it's pathetic. only 4 toons (when there will be a few around when Arthas dies i'm sure), the whole sequence holds in a 10 square meter area. the best toon is Tirion as he is most seen from a little distance, and has an awesome armor to go with.

just my thoughts anyway. i'll go check it again in a sec to see if it still feels the same.

The cinematic looks pretty faction neutral. Probably some blurb in some quest text for either faction. I'm moderately annoyed the end is left as open as it is. I guess they need some open story lines for WC4. Tyreon's in an interesting position. Sylvanas too for that matter, now that their immediate goals are complete.

I couldn't help but to compare this with another epic ending we all know of

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luuUE0x7-TY

Grom and Thrall VS Mannoroth

WC3 ending is far superior in every way except maybe the music score. Using real time rendered models instead pre-rended CG is a giant step backwards. All in all, i didn't like it. It feels more like another fan-made movie on warcraftmovies.com

Posting again, I have to agree with Remanz. They have spent almost a decade on this storyline and we could not even get a masterfully made CGI scene.

(For the record, falsetto choir music is just overindulgent, the music in WC3 when they fight with Mannoroth is at least subtle and sets the mood)

lol this is so true.

Actually, to really compare to another video, I would one with the similar storyline, when Arthas actually becomes Lich King:

Awesome Video, so many many times better than this 'new' lich king one.

I got some shivers, but only from the audio and the overall setting.

It really is sad that they didn't at least use the high-poly models in place of the game's low-polys for purposes of a scripted scene.

The expressionless faces (save a few eyebrow movements) made me think of certain Steven Segall movies. But I don't expect Blizzard graphics designers to understand body language.

That video was made by blizzard? I'm disappointed in the quality...truly terrible, relatively speaking.

What did everyone expect from such a small patch? To have rendered this as a proper cut scene would have taken a lot more bandwidth to allow people to download it and obviously Blizzard decided to go low bandwidth. From what I recall, only the game expansions have ever gotten a fully rendered cgi cut scene?

It is a video file. how does CGI cut scene vs in-game engine cut scene matter ? The resolution of the video determines the file size, not the content. And if file size is a problem, they can always split them into different packs. I don't think that can justify the low quality content (not low quality video file).

I have no problem with the way it ended. Only if they can spend a little more resource on this. After all, this marks the end of a 5 year WOW. and I am pretty sure a lot of people have been waiting for this since WC3.

I'm pretty sure this is not the end of WoW. :P

Also, the video has been taken down by blizzard, so I'll just have to kill the lich king myself to see it, oh well :)
