Today i decided to implement my lock as demo into my team. Took me few hours to tweak my macros, below is what i came up with.
Ran few heroics and to my surprise dps was almost identical to destro, while shaman were doing more, due to 5% crit debuff and more spell power(lock gives around 100 more spell damage than ToW).
Anyway, here goes i hope someone can benefit from this :)

Video, with some points explained:

button 2:
/castsequence reset=combat/target Curse of the Elements, null

button 3:

How much DPS were you pumping out when compared to Destro / Afflic?

I haven't tried affliction at all(yet)
Difference between destri and demo in raids is small, as a boxer i would say around 500-800 dps on heroic bosses max, but shamans were doing quite a bit more due to almost extra 150 sp damage per(150 over 280 from tow).
Also 5% extra crit isn't too bad :)
You do lose replenishment and hp from imp as demo.

I basically did the same thing you did awhile back, but it was before the 3.3 buffs. Demo was interesting, but lackluster when compared to Destro.

I found Destro and Afflic to be very similar - its just DoT vs Burst between the two bosses. So anything with a lot of movement Afflic would probably come out on top.

3x Affliction warlocks might actually be the ultimate multibox dps tri, because they aren't affected by movement - as compared to say Shaman that lose thousands of DPS is they have to move at all.

there is even more buffs coming to demo on Tuesday, while destro buffs are meh

This is one of the reasons I went Aff for pvp (BG's) as well - with 2 of the 5 dots being instant (curse & corruption), I can dot up a target while I move into position to apply the dots with a cast time (haunt, UA & SoC) - it's very effective.

Back on topic - sadly, the 5% spell damage buff that demonic pact is getting in the patch only affects the lock (i.e. not party wide). The party/raid wide buff component is unchanged. Still very nice though.

Looking forward to give demo a try with my shams.

Cheers,
S.

The demo warlock SP buff to raid is called Demonic Pact yeah? I thought this only increased raid SP by 10% of your total spell power and wasn't additional to ToW buff. I am not sure if this is what you are mentioning here because without armory-ing your lock (I realilse your toons are well geared) I am assuming it doesn't have 4300SP. If so then awesome, if not, then please enlighten me as to my misunderstanding.

Cheers

Why no Incinerate? I can agree you'd want SB every 30 seconds to keep the debuff (maybe weave it in in case you get a resist), but with Immolate on the target Incinerate is more mana friendly and more DPS if you have Molten Core...

Demonic Pact and Totem of Wrath give the same buff.
So you get the better of the two.

At early stages of gearing, Totem of Wrath was always better.
But as the gear has improved, DP can now be better on a fairly geared toon.
As gear with more SP continues to enter the game, this will become more true for a larger portion of the player base.

my lock with basic buffs and flask has around 4300, when trinket pops its around 4800ish.

Incinerate would make sense too, its just a simple line that needs to be added :)

edit. After testing SB with 3.3.2 buffs hits harder than inc, so i just removed immolate from click sequence.

Niley, fix your title spelling. Nobody can find your "demology click macro" thread. :P

I tried demonology on an heroic during the weekend, it really dropped my dps compared to Destro. I really felt I was doing something wrong even though I used a cookie cutter demo build with the click macros Niley posted.
Any thoughts?

It might be based on your gearing.
Niley has pretty kick ass gear across his team.
That's about the only thing I can think of.
Maybe at a certain gear point, there's not much difference between the specs, but at lower levels of gear Destro is better.

His main team (I think) is Pally, Warlock, 3x Shaman.
So his lock gets all of the shammy goodness too.
Not sure which buffs your lock gets, as comparison.

Well both my locks are in all Triumph badge gear with Merlin's Robe and the Sword from Heroic FoS. So specced Destro they hit about 4k on a boss. When I respecced one to demon he lost about 1k in dps.
If you look at Dailyauction and his offspec, that is the demo spec I used.
It was very disappointing :(

Fel Domination and Master Summoner are wasted talent points...
And 1 point in Improved Curse of Agony? CoE if you have 1 lock. Best curse in the game (13% more damage, essentially).
Finally, you don't have Glyph of Incinerate...which is 5% damage on a spell you should be spamming.

Personally, my builds are only 41 points into Demo, because with the 5% damage boost from having a Felguard, you can still get all the way down to Devastation.

3 Points in Molten Core makes Incinerate shine.

YMMV, of course.

Boss: Corruption, Immolate, CoE,SB, Incinerate until dead, reapply Corruption every 18 seconds, Immolate every 24, and SB every 30.

Trash: Just spam SoC. Really. If the team doesn't have the DPS to proc SoC before the next one hits, put a /targetenemy in the macro so you are casting it at a different mob.

At level 71, against 4 mob pulls, SoC was doing 3k DPS for my warlock team. My Fel Guards were doing another 400 DPS each.

Of course that's a single trash fight, but you get the idea.

I am going to take a look at my lock builds this evening, some suggestions were made in another thread on this :) . I did not do any glyphs for the offspec having not played demo since leveling.
I will revisit demo spec at the weekend I think :D

Not looking at your DPS, but rather your +spell power...

He said his toons are at +4300 spell power.
Demonic Pact gets your party/raid, a 10% (of your spell power) increase.
So in his case, DP grants +430 spell power, as opposed to +280 spell power from just ToW.
Chances are 1x ToW is up anyway, for the increased crit chance.

In my warlocks case, DP is not even close to the spell power from ToW.
So it varies with gear.

Even if you were to take a 1k DPS hit on the warlock.
If your other DPS were to gain more then 1k DPS across them, it would be a good trade.
But, you'd need a high enough SP on the warlock for DP to pass ToW by a large enough margin.

thanks for the post niley. i was getting bored with destro. I was leaning toward demo since i've never played it before. Time to give the ol' felguard a try.

I got about a 30% dps jump at lvl 71 from the switch. It could be that my click macro sucked for destro. Either way I'm happy with the switch.
