View Full Version : [WoW] Boosting without RAF?
I already have 2 accounts for dualboxing fun. altough I don't do that much anymore new LFG system made it so easy to find groups and my friends play a lot more now.
Anyway before I transfer my 80 Shaman to my main account I was thinking about using him to boost my level 47 druid up to outland. is it just the same thing as RAF boostin except 3x times because I only get normal XP rate.
EDIT: Forgot half question ><
Or would it be faster or equal to just quest the last 13 levels. I have really poor gear on my drood >< could boost for gear drops though

pay the 19$ for a vanilla account and raf it to 60. throw it away after.

don't worry about low level gear. You will replace it in outlands and again in Northrend then again at 80. Until endgame anything will work as the booster does most of the work.
Second doing RAF to level a couple quick toons

At 47 it is a tough call. You already got past the hardest part i think (35-45).
My toon was 32 when i wanted to boost him. I was sort of going though the same thing as you but i still had to do the 35-45 in ZF. After thinking some time i just bought another vanilla wow and RAF it. Took me about 1-2 hours to get to lvl 10 + write some macro (was a druid so had to do the stupid horde collection quests). After that the lvls just seemed to fly. I think it took 2 days to get my guys to lvl 32. At that time i switched to my other toon and continued with him. The best part is that you can almost skip all of lvl 60. At 59 and almost dinning, have your fiend ding to 60 and grant you a lvl. Then you will be 60 with only a few xp away from 61... then you can make you lvl 32 that you swiched out to lvl 60 with gifted lvls.

Might as well boost the next 8 levels in Scholo with your main, then Ramps from 55-60. It shouldn't take that long.

I thought no triple xp or even no regular xp would be awarded to anyone if the monsters are grey to the highest level character in the party. Wouldn't that disrupt the whole boost thing when a level 80 pulls some low levels through Dead Mines, Scarlet Monastery etc..? At least that's how I interpreted the official Recruit a friend-FAQ. Or does this restriction only apply if the lvl 80 character is playing on one of the Recruit a friend-accounts?
We're going to say A is the high level boosting account, and BCDE are all lowbies being boosted.
If:
A > BCDE...then the boosting will not work with 300% increased XP seeing as they're all linked to the high level, in turn, they're not 3 levels within their linked account(s).
If:
A > B > C > D > E...then boosting works fine because B is within 3 levels of C and C is within 3 levels of D, etc.
In the OP's case:
A > B...boosting would not work with the RaF bonus. Using Naysayer's approach of adding a cheapo Vanilla account into the mix would mean:
A > B > C...resulting in the second example's availability to boost B and C.

I'm curious why the LFG functionality is a catalyst for deciding to move to one account. Why did you originally start dual boxing?
edit: I think I may have just misread the OP originally...it sounds like it's simply what you spend more time doing, now. You could still dualbox, but in heroics....

Your time versus your money.
What is your time worth?

if the mobs are not grey to the lower level, they will get some EXP. Questing will be faster either way, Instances are good but better for boosting 3-4 toons.
