Welcome to level 80 the quest for gear

Ok so the pallies are fresh 80s they are sporting savage saronite armor and the Heirloom Axe. While I dont think its a fantastic idea to actually go and buy the mats to craft a weapon where would you suggest I go to pick up a weapon so I can start getting badges =P

The best thing I could think of was Gorfrosts 2 ton hammer. But I cant join it because my gear rating is to low suggestions please? Or should i keep the heirloom axe and pick some badges then make my way to gorfrost?

You could try to 5 man flame leviathan, use your other geared toons, and pray for good drops. Or farm tons of gold, and buy some battered hilts.... Or do heroics to get geared and start pugging icc.

I would second the garfrost hammer, it's pretty nice and the dk/ret teams in guild seem to be able to mow him down really easy even in mediocre gear.

Halls of Light Loken drops a decent Axe. And UK (I think it is) drops decent legs also. If you do some of the heroics that drop plate you should be able to gear your toons pretty fast. With the way the dungeons were reworked in 3.3 your chance of getting plate with your team is pretty high and so within a few days you could be decent geared. Also FoS regular drops tons of epic plate for both holy, ret and prot. There is tons of plate out there at the moment lol

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. "Let them eat cake!". His trouble isn't that he can't get into the instance and is too lazy to fly there, it's that he can't complete that dungeon yet, lol.

I think Edge of Ruin drops from ToC. The argent tourny weapons are pretty much freebie epics.

I doubt he'll be able to clear the first heroic champs.

Your gear is too low to enter on normal mode? When I hit lvl 80 I did Forge of Souls which is a requirement to get into Pit of Saron, and then just did the instance over and over until I got 5 weapons. You only have to kill 3 mobs before you get to the first boss, so you'll get them all 212 dps weapons fast.

This is for sure the best way to gear up :)

Blasphemy for boxing, I know, but Queue them individually for heroic HoL and ToC. Both have good 2-hander drops that will likely default to you

This is what he is saying he can't do. If your gear is too poor you can't queue for these dungeons.

Do normal ToC if you can. Lots of tanking + dps gear there. I geared my tank in no time by doing that. once you have enough gear, queue for heroic FoS & PoS upgrade the tanking gear.

The tank is fine hes in full T9.5 and some T10
for the moment im using my prot pally tank to help the rets get some gear

i just created a group with my good toons (dungeon finder) went ininstance, dropped one toon, added my pally and farmed till i got hammer. then kept swapping in pallies till they all had hammer.
doesn't matter if your toons aren't geared for instance if group is already "approved" and in instance. can port right there once you join group.

Pretty sure the heirloom items are counted as ilvl 1 for the gear check system. When my DK hit 80 I couldn't queue for PoS or ToC, but after replacing the heirloom shoulders and chest with ilvl 200 blues it let me queue for ToC. After replacing most of my ilvl <200 blues/greens with ilvl 200 blues/epics from normal heroics and getting the axe from Loken, I was able to queue for PoS.

what im doing to get the hammers is ive swapped out a single pally for my friends disc priest. This really just becomes all about survival and less about burning him down. Thus far its worked pretty well I say. 3 runs no hammer yet =( 50% drop rate my butt lol

My druids just hit 80 as well, couldn't even join a normal heroic. If you have decent teams already at 80, just get them in the instance, kick one and invite an alt. Taking me forever but I have dragged 3/5 of my druids in the new 5 mans. Its a quick gear boost and a few more runs make them badge farm viable.

Well I now have 4 two ton hammers which doesnt seem to weigh that much lol! Anyway the way I did it was I rotated a pally in for while using my decked out shammys to basically down it... Side note levling weapon skill is a FING NIGHTMARE!!!!!! lol

I hit the random dungeon and got AN ugh still a nightmare simply becaus their gear is so crap but I have a decent amount of cash saved up (25k or so that should totally allow me to buy something pretty for my team =)

There once was a gray 2.1 speed 2h mace I used to pass around to level my 2h hammer skill. There is a comparable one I just got to do the same with the 2h heirlooms my 5 pallys just got. Cuts the time drastically.

Actually, the weapon vendor in Dal sells white weapons that are wicked fast. I bought 1 of each to level my wep skills.

With Seal of light for self healing, and devotion aura for lowering the damage taken, i rarely got below 97/98 % health.

I know we need PVE gear to be defence capped to tank Heroics. Just wondering for the 4 X ret pallies, can we clear heroic ICC 5 man instances in only PVP gear? Just hit 80 and it would take too long to gather two set of gears.

Just try it, you would be amazed, just dont give up at the first few whipes ;)
