Lori Hyrup, a developer at Mythic who works on DAOC, posted the following message on HotkeyNet's forum today. So far as I know, this is the first time in the history of the game that Mythic has made a public statement about multiboxing.

Up till now it hasn't been clear whether Mythic allows multiboxing and multiboxing software. The fact that Lori joined HotkeyNet's forum to post this message is probably a good sign.

Hey Folks,

I don't normally check these forums, but my name was coming up often enough that it was causing my palms to itch (jk). In any case, since I know a lot of you are coordinating your feedback to champion the use of HotkeyNet, I figured I would come here directly to let you know what I have been telling others.

As I have mentioned to those who have sent feedback, we are not against multi-boxers. We are against people who, as I said to Joseph in the quote above, are threatening to disrupt the spirit of the game or otherwise make the game completely unplayable for others. There are some groups who are completely locking other players out of content, all with just one person controlling each group. That's not cool, particularly with everyone now on one uber-server, and the behavior is chasing away other players. Our Customer Service manager and the development team will be meeting in a couple of hours to discuss how best for us to move forward. I will bring up your concerns and play style prefences, as well as all of the other angles we need to look at this situation. I can't make any promises one way or another as to what the outcome might be, but your sentiments will go in to consideration.

Best,
Lori Hyrup

doesn't sound like they have the playerbase to support multiboxing pvp and they'll probably limit the amount of accounts you can play at one time.

They already do limit the amount of accounts you can play at one time using Mutual Exclusions, but Freddie found a way around that. I guess they could take it to the next level and have GMs actively ban those they find using more then 2 accounts.

I'm really replying to the previous comment not yours.

Lori said "We are not against multiboxers."

That means they do not want to limit the number of accounts.

The mutexes are there for historical reasons. I don't think they care about them.
