So my spacegoat shaman need 342 hit to be hit capped from the various sources that ive read. Ive picked up 4 items now from the Triumph Vendors and I still need a good 200 more hit to get to the cap. Only 3 of the T9 set items even give +hit and if I gem every slot to +hit I will still be 100+ hit short of the cap. Im getting ready to skip out one of my trinkets for the +hit/haste trinket they offer over a spell power one.

Any advice on how to gear up the +hit?

That 342 is to be hit capped against raid bosses. If you're raiding that's fine, but against heroic bosses it's not as high.

I'm blocked here at work so I can't go digging like I would at home.

1- Rawr - you can filter so the list of item upgrades is limited to content you can clear or even by badge type. http://www.codeplex.com/Rawr for the most recent version.

2- Get Zap, it's Zamir's elemental spreadsheet, he created it after Binkenstein quit updating his.

3- Wowhead custom item filters are likely your best bet.

Were I at home I'd be listing specific items, but I can't get to your armory (neither can rawr) from here, wowhead, wowwiki, or elitistjerks.

Does this 342 assume a spriest or moonkin is in raid? It's been so long since I raided on my shaman, but I believe that without trying they were all around 300ish hit. It seems to be pretty plentiful on some mail gear. I wish there wasnt so much on the warlock/mage gear, its ridiculous that even before talents my guys are over the hit cap. Bad itemization is bad!

edit: Use the hit rating food instead of the fish feast that is commonly available at raids. It's 40 hit rating and much better if you are below the cap than the fish feast.

You need a total of 17% hit in order to avoid any miss on boss. That is since 3.0 where they removed the 1% limit.

365~ hit (14%) without SP/Moonkin in raid
285~ hit (11%) with SP/Moonkin.

263 if you're a blueberry.

Humm. Maybe im just seeing things. According to that in heroics with level 80-82 bosses my shaman would need only 53 to cap on the bosses and my paladin would need 132. I know for a fact my paladin on 80 trash gets his avengers shield and hammer of the righteous deflected and miss quite a bit. Enough that im posting this. He should be capped against 80 trash and is only like 20 away from bosses, unless getting blocked and deflected is something else entirely.

unless getting blocked and deflected is something else entirely.

I believe these are different from misses. You're technically hitting the target. They are just avoiding some or all of the damage.

If you are still starved for hit on the shammies, the Titan-forged legs and wrists will add 108 hit (combined) and will not replace any t-9 gear. It's not ideal, but it will work.

The hit from the ele 232 t9 is enough to put you way over the hit cap for heroics.

Does your Avenger's Shield actually get blocked/deflected? I thought it counted as a spell so couldn't be blocked/deflected. If it counts as a physical attack, you need 79 hit rating (95 without a draenei) to hit the physical attack hit cap.

Hammer of the Righteous gets deflected, Avenger's Shield can miss if not capped. Hammer can miss too if not capped of course.

My understanding is that:
Hit rating deals with lowering the number of times your attacks misses.
Extertise deals with lowering the number of times your attacks are parried and dodged I believe.

I dont' think there is a stat that will lower your chance to be blocked or deflected since you are making contact like a previous post pointed out.

(edit: I was also shocked when I realized how low the hit cap was for heroics.)

Deflect on hammer means it got parried. Could be dodged too, I don't remember.

It's parried - Hammer is technically a ranged attack which is why it can sometimes lag up if your just out of range or the mobs move on you as your pressing it. US players probably wouldn't notice it but when you have a 200-600ms ping you see it now and then. :)

You need 24 expertise to not get parried by bosses. You need 60 to not get dodged or something like that. This is not feasible and there is no point trying to achieve that.

There is a nice staff in pit of saron named something like Gargoyles broken femur.
I got this on my warlock and it has over 100 hit rating on it (may even be as high as 124).

If you are willing to give up your shields on the shaman then this should go a long way towards
hit cap for raid bosses.

Edit: Item is Engraved Gargoyle Femur.

110 stam, 121 int, hit rating 113, haste 86 and spell power 550.
