The wifi on my Linksys WRT-54g is dying. It's been a damn good router as I've been running DD-WRT on it forever. I'd like a router I can hack / install DD-WRT on it, but it's not a *huge* deal. I saw the netgear WGR614L advertisted as an open source router, supporting DD-WRT out of the box, but I don't like the thread on the forums talking about bricking with the current builds. Anyone have any first hand experience with home wireless routers? I only need G support, no crazy wireless N going on, and I don't need gigabit.

Don't buy a Dlink anything.

Although I haven't had many problems with mine specifically, the dlink forums are full of horror stories and bugged firmware.

Yea it sure seems hit or miss with dlink. I had 2 and 1 was awesome. I now use lynksys (started with the same one as svper.) I would just browse the DD-WRT forums and see what newer routers still have great success with the firmware with the least amount of connection issues.

You say this now, but once you try it you won't go back.

I have a DLink. So far it works fine.
