Firstly let me apologise if this is in the wrong place.

I am leveling up 4 shamen wich i hope to use with good geared pally tank (80atm)

my questions are:-

using 3 shammy's as ele and one resto, do you have the resto shammy just casting heals full time on the tank and team or do they dps as well?

I am/ will be using a /click sequence on the tank and shamen, just wondering what the resto shamens would be or just leve his click sequnce blank and purly heal (indend to use VoDoo and repeatable click regions) or could he still dps but put a modifier at the start of his seqences

many thanks in advance

Dougie

Depends on the gear level and the instance. The continuum spans from the following:

Resto shaman heals full time

Resto shaman can help DPS and toss the occasional heal

Resto shaman is gone, and you run 4xElementals who can 4xLHW or 4xChain Heal occasionally to take care of damage

4xElementals with some healing streams and passive tank healing is enough to handle all damage

etc

It just depends on how challenging the content is and your relative gear level.

i ran pally +3 ele +1 resto forever cause i was used to this setup until recently, and i was pvping one day and didn't switch back to healing spec and did regular pos for the shield and i didn't need to actually heal until the last boss. I honestly didn't even notice he was dpsing until i looked at damage meters and saw him up with the others.
I was suprised that pallys take so little damage without the earth shield

well they have just hit lvl 45 now, waiting at strat gates, so gearing is gonna be wotever they pick up

The plan is to raf em up 2 60, then either change my 80 pally with with a lvl 61 DK i have and level them up, changing the DK and pally as wen needed for instances, if the DK don't work out.

Having no experiances with higher end dungeons (apart from solo play) I would prefer the safety net of a dedicated healer, at least to start with :P

I tried that for awhile, but it's just much easier to burn down instances with a pally tank and 4x elemental shammies. Just keep them geared with the best crafted stuff you can find, making sure to always be enchanted and gemmed properly. I haven't come across an instance that really needs a dedicated resto shaman. I use 3 different heals.. that's it. One is a 4x chain heal all targeting the tank. Two is 4x LHW all targeting the tank. Three is a 4x chain heal self-cast on the shammies. Since there's only a unified spell power (and not healing power vs spell power like in the past), it's easy to have elemental shammies be quite good at throwing down some big heals. The main thing you miss out on is earth shield, but you don't need it with 4x healing stream totems and a decently geared tank.

I have:
1x Prot Paladin.
2x Elemental Shaman
1x Dual Spec Elemental/Resto Shaman
1x Destruction Warlock

When an instance is hard, and you are relatively undergeared..
The Resto is a nice option, to make things much easier.
But it is also slower to finish or kill things.

3x Elemental, no Resto... can heal all 5-man content with ease.
Or 4x, if your team is Pally/Shammies.
