OK so I've now been dabbling in boxing for around 6 months. have 3X70 mages 5X45 druids a few other classes boosted on RaF and now my latest most serious push for 80, 5X ele shamans.

I had my first 2 wsg bg on this team I'm raising up on ally side, currently 74 in quest greens and blues. the first time the horde didnt seem to mind me lightning bolting them 5 times and running in the middle to drop 5 thunderstorms :).

Yeah I know I was half the bg team but it was late and I reckon they wouldnt have got one if I didnt join, so I dont feel too bad though I've gotta tell you the adrenaline rush I got from the whole experience is immense. My heart has never beat so fast while sitting down... Anywhere.... Ever!!

I thought I did OK for a virgin even though we lost as the other ally were just watching in amusement . I'm on darkmoon faire and there arent many boxers here at all (least i've only ever seen 1 horde team in icecrown).

I was hoping any shaman boxers could give me some tips ie glyphs/point me to a decent tree/forum post and share experiences, as the second time I got totally ganked and they rather embarrasingly picked me off one by one. I had to explain to one ally it was my second battle ever when he "WTF? you died!".

Given there were a few level 78-79 who were clearly a bit more experienced I'm hoping improvement will follow. My rig is no problem at all: P6T deluxe i7 12gig ram 5870 ssd 24" screen, all clients running at 60+ fps even when spell busy, no lag/chug except for Dalaran between 4-12pm.

SO:

Am I to expect more staying power among my rivals as I reach 80 or what?

My biggest noob mistake is to buy 5 vannilla copies and use the keys without Recruiting a Friend in the proccess >.< DoH! that cost me 40 quid!!

Which should give you some pointers about spec, glyphs and enchants.

As a fresh 80, you'll probably get stomped a lot, but once you build up your pvp set, it should happen progressively less and less.

Do the WG weekly quests (approx 20K honor) and whichever BG's you like doing and you should be able to grind out honor enough to buy a few pieces fairly quickly.

Arena Season 8 will be here in a few weeks, so save your honor until then.

Hope this helps...

Cheers,
S.

I guess glyphed stoneclaw could help, but it requires giving up tremors and earthbinds.... I could maybe see getting it the main shaman though....

Well, with 5x Shammies, you can experiment.
For battlegrounds, 5x Fire Elemental or staggered... with a 5 min cooldown (glyphed) is quite nice AoE power, especially if you are swarmed.

As you pvp and gain honor, and buy gear (wait until the next season starts, and its better gear for the same cost), your resilience goes up, which is staying power.
With 5x Shammies for heals + healing stream totems, you become quite a force.
AV is generally a really good BG; a lot love EotS too.

You shouldn't expect anything aslong as you don't got atleast 600 resi or so.

My suggestion is to get full stormhide at lvl 78 and do AV. you just need time played to get used to the 5 shamans, with full stormhide you got a good chunck of hp and 300ish resi. I did this quadboxing 4 shaman and got Wrecking ball( 20 Killing blows without a death) and Damage Control (300k dmg done to players) in the same AV, as an example. This is much more enjoyable (easier) then lvl 80 pvp, because people are leveling, they're here for exp and fun. Besides that most people run around with 0 resi, so they die like flies. 4 x magma + fire nova on every CD and TS to finish it off is great aoe damage on melee.

At 80 a well played pvper in full relentless using everything he can to annoy you can be extremely frustrating.

True enough...

I would say that the Glyph of Lava is a no brainer, other than that there a quite a few viable glyphs for PvP...

Glyphs of Shocking, Thunder, Flame Shock, Fire Elemental Totem, Fire Nova and Elemental Mastery all offer solid benefits depending on your play style...
