Let's be constructive with this topic please.

A little background...I'm a longtime DK+4 Shaman mboxer. I had moderate success running heroics. I took a break for a time to level up and have fun playing an all-druid boomkin team. I've been itching to run some of the newer content so I RAF'd up a pally tank and threw in a mage to round out my future 5 mage team.

I leveled from 60-80 as ret and never looked back. I've spent a good deal of money and time getting my tank prepared for beginning heroics. Here is her wowarmory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Wildhammer&n=Mypalitank

I really have 0 clue how to play as protection however. There are simply too many people out there with differing opinions on talent spec, spell rot, auras, glyphs, blessing, etc....and most importantly, none of them multi-box.

Here is a tanking macro I found in a thread on db while searching. This one seems to make sense to me. At this point I really don't have tanking trinkets, so I really don't need /13 /14 yet.

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=combat Holy Shield, Hammer of the Righteous, Consecration, Shield of Righteousness, Judgement of Wisdom
/use 13
/use 14

Is this the definitive "Pally Tanking" macro?

What auras do YOU use?

What Blessing do YOU use?

What Seal do YOU use?

What Glyphs?

I'm presently using Righteous Fury, Sense Undead, Blessing of Sanctuary, Seal of Wisdom, and Ret Aura. I'm noticing that if I land near a lvl80 mob and use the "tanking" macro up above, that the mobs don't exactly tremble at my presence. In fact, they take quite a while to die lol. I'm testing a lot of this out without the aid of the shamans btw. I'm guessing that if the shamans were standing there behind her blasting away that they would die and I probably might not lose aggro...but I've yet to put that theory to the test.

I wish that we could create a sticky for Paladin Tanking 101...Bear Tanking 101....DK tanking 101.

I have always heard that pally tanking is so much more synergistic with shamans so I thought I'd try it out. To start out, Is it as easy as mashing the macro above (remember...starting out) and throwing in a shaman DPS macro and tying them both to the same button? I understand the need to throw in like avenger's shield, hand of freedom and what not...

Flame away. Thank you for helping in any capacity you choose to.

Paladin tanking is way easier than DK tanking imo. Although I started with the Paladin and am learning the DK now.....imo, Paladin is a faceroll comparatively. (Also, this is my experience multiboxing the Paladin vs singl-box the DK)

I use pretty much the same tanking macro (although no tanking trinkets...think one is spellpower....better than nothing I guess lol)
Seal of Wisdom
Blessing of Sanctuary

Glyphs, idk off-hand

I'm still learning myself, but this works for me so far.

Take a look at the 96969 macro, as far as the tanking sequence for a prot pally.

The full 969 macro has Hammer of Righteous and Shield of Righteous in alternating spots to push in another spell before the Holy Shield is off cooldown. The one you linked is a short working version, but may lock up until a spell comes off cooldown mid-fight (or the short version isn't utilizing full threat potential). I broke up the lines, so don't copy/paste into macro. Also if planning to use trinkets, will need to setup a /click, since the full 969 macro takes about all of the 255 characters.

/castsequence reset=combat
Holy Shield,Hammer of the Righteous,Consecration,Shield of Righteousness,Judgement of Wisdom,Hammer of the Righteous,
Holy Shield,Shield of Righteousness,Consecration,Hammer of the Righteous,Judgement of Wisdom,Shield of righteousness

Unless you use SuperMacros, Macaroon or IS Boxer (or another addon to raise the macro cap from 255 characters to 1024 characters), you only have space for: reset=x, not enough characters for reset=combat.

Place 1 point into improved Judgements.

Your 9 second abilities are:
A1 Consecrate
A2 Holy Shield
A3 Judgement of Choice

Your 6 second abilities are:
B1 Shield of Righteousness
B2 Hammer of the Righteous

A's can be any order, as in A2 then A3 then A1.
B's can be either one first, then alternate.

I go with: A2 - A3 - A1.

The full sequence is A's twice, with B's in between.

So for me it is: A2, B1, A3, B2, A1, B1..... A2, B2, A3, B1, A1, B2.

You have just enough characters for reset=x and either Judgement of Wisdom once and Judgement of Light once, or Judgement of Light twice (which is 254 characters).

I personally like to use /Click to call my 96969 macro.

Calling Macro:

#show Holy Shield
/stopmacro [mod:alt]
/startattack
/click MultiBarRightButton1

This is purely for the extra characters.
The option to stopmacro, by pressing it with Alt (which means only the shammies cast) for mobs at range which will be dead before they close to melee range.
And the /startattack in the macro too.

My full macro is in the wiki.

I like consecrate last, because it is a mana pig.
If a mob is dead quickly, mana is not wasted.
If it will be an AoE pull, I can do an initial consecrate.
And follow with my 96969 macro, and have consecrate refresh before it is called in the macro.

I like Holy Shield early, but if mana is an issue, you could have it as the 2nd cast.
Which means you'll take a bit more damage.
And be healed for a bit more, which is extra mana from Spiritual Attunement.

/castsequence reset=9 Holy Shield,Hammer of the Righteous,Judgement of Wisdom,Shield of Righteousness,Consecration,Hammer of the Righteous,Holy Shield,Shield of Righteousness,Judgement of Wisdom,Hammer of the Righteous,Consecration,Shield of Righteousness

The only macro your pally needs and it fits in the character limit.

I know you are technically correct, but I've noticed a BIG difference between 535 and 540, even in heroics.

HIt 540 just to be safe.

I will try to explain my setup as clearly as possible, note this probably is not the easiest or most efficient method.
Here are screenshots from both my main and followers PvE. No fancy UI just basic wow in these pics.

The number 1 key on the tank is the old tried and true 9696, link here (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=26161) explains more.
That same link also has the click sequence I use for my shamans and many others! If you look at the action bar furthest east of the screen at the top are my 4 buttons referenced in my actual click macro. This button is also set to the number 1 key.

Key #1 tank 9696, shams dps /click macro
Key #2 both weapon buff
Key #3 tank does nothing, shams cast chain heal on each other
Key #4 tank 9696, shams flameshock
Key #5 tank conc shams thunderstorm
Key #6 + #7 situational for certain boss's, I switch macro's in and out here
Key #8 tank does nothing, shams cast water shield
Key #9 random things on both
Key #0 tank does nothing, shams cast grounding
Key #= is mount macro

I also have E set for 2 shams spamming lesser wave on tank, Q is spam lesser on self, P is drop totem farm and many other hotkey around my board.

While spamming the 1key I use my mouse to select certain skills that only require attention in specific cases, like pulling with avengers, buffs, trinks and bubbles. With this I NORMALLY just spam one key all day long and things die. Adapt to certain conditions and fights of course and try new things. With mixed teams it can become much more complicated but this has worked for me.
