DK + 4 Ret - Blood Elfs too good to not use?

My current team is 4 dwarves and 1 gnome. I find humans boring, love gnomes, and female dwarves are a sight to see, so that's my current choice. However, I recognize the Blood Elf racial is extremely strong in PvP.

If taking PvP seriously, is the Blood Elf racial too good to pass up or can any race combination work well?

Yes, it's also off GCD so it's very easy to include them all in a single staggered castsequence

Racials are quite decent at times.

With a castsequence for the AoE Silence, a caster is helpless in melee, and you can keep the silence up for a while.
Not sure if there are diminishing returns.
Silence actually really messes with a Paladin or another Death Knight too, as most of their stuff is cast dependent, even warriors lose options.

I'd go with the team you will enjoy to play the most.
Each option gets some advantages and loses other advantages too.
If the Dwarves/Gnome will be fun, I'd stick with them.
We can min/max to a degree, but shouldn't at the expense of having fun.

Well crap, looks like it's time to be horde then and time to derail the thread.

Any suggestions on a good horde PvP server? Hoping to have low queue times for BGs more than high winning percentage (rather be losing but playing non-stop than waiting 20 minutes to get in one that's over in a few minutes with a win). East coast preferable, and if anyone has enough foresight to know where rated BGs will be a priority, that would be a bonus.

silence is of course, subject to DR. First is 2 seconds. 2nd is 1 seconds. Then the target will be immue. So no reason to use more than 2 at a time.

Still as suprafro pointed out, it is off GCD. Put that in your killing rotation. It is deadly.

I don't know about other servers, or servers on general. It seems to me that Hordes are winning most of the WG and losing most of the BG in bloodlust battlegroup.

NO.1 PVP server in bloodlust group is undoubtedly Black Rock. Got the most PVPers on that server. Both hordes and alliance. I am currently on Frostwolf. It is so unbalanced. Horde vs Alliance 8:2 population wise. 80% of the time, WG is ours.

Racials will be changing when cataclysm hits, so I would back off on any decisions unless you dont want to wait. Im worried my human paladins will be losing their free trinket when the expansion hits =(

I went humans for free trinket + bonus rep + improved swords/maces + detect stealth better + easy starting zone to get to 10. Im hoping Cata gives better balanced racials, but there is always the race change service if ever needed

Because I plan to /dance in arena, I picked Night Elves female as that's pretty much the only racial they get now that they made Shadowmeld pretty much useless (in PVE at least, somehow, it *never* works in instances anymore, not sure why they made that change, and I wish I knew before I picked NE - the 'good' news is the resulting wipe from not being able to de-combat at least one of my 5 NE when things turn south is that i can run back faster from GY... how nice...)

Blood Elf racial is nice, plus you can do Tauren War Stomp DK....

Human for Alliance is also an amazing choice. You get that much more DPS out of having an extra trinket slot.

I'm currently Horde - Blood Elf but everyone gets hit with the grass is always greener on the other side, don't sweat it and play what you enjoy. Like others have said racials will probably be changing radically with the expansion where they no longer play a huge role in someone's decision. Most likely being able to choose what you want I would guess.

humans have the best racial. if you find them boring, how would belves not be? pointy ears?

Stick with the dwarves. Best looking paladin race hands down.

I find Blood Elfs (and Night Elfs) boring too.

In the end I decided to continue with the female dwarves. As someone pointed out, if I decide that I need the racial ability badly enough then I can always faction change.

If ever a racial is needed to win arena games its OP and will soon be nerfed. If slighty OP it will still be nerfed but it will take some time. If the racial stinks you get to look forward to whatever buff may come your way.
