So I thought I'd start a thread for all those WTF?!? moments in the random dungeon finders. This is an actual conversation that just took place in a group of level 70s doing the first boss in UK. I was on my rogue and seemed to be the only person attacking frost tombs. This was the second attempt on the boss. The names have not been changed to protect the innocent.

1/7 17:48:09.597 Prince Keleseth casts Frost Tomb on Emillous.
1/7 17:48:16.201 [Party] Emillous-Sen'jin: stop attacking me rogue
1/7 17:48:19.872 Emillous has died.
1/7 17:48:27.188 [Party Leader] Ludeme: are you serous
1/7 17:48:31.644 [Party Leader] Ludeme: rogue isn't attacking you
1/7 17:48:34.369 [Party Leader] Ludeme: he's breaking you out of the ice
1/7 17:48:38.646 [Party] Emillous-Sen'jin: oh
1/7 17:48:40.282 [Party] Emillous-Sen'jin: O.o
1/7 17:48:50.815 Ludeme leaves the party.
1/7 17:48:50.815 [Party] Cleia-Frostmourne: bwahahahaha
1/7 17:49:10.588 Cleia leaves the party.
1/7 17:49:11.425 [Party] Emillous-Sen'jin: lmao
1/7 17:49:30.292 [Party Leader] Bundaloo-Dath'Remar: sigh
Anyone else have any choice moments?

Last week in Normal ToC.
i'm on my Elemental/Resto Shamy in a group with a DK, a Warrior, a priest and a ret paladin.
[Abyssal Rune] drops (84 haste, chance of 590 spellpower on harmful spellcast)
priest has it already and auto-pass
i roll need.
the paly rolls need and wins.

[ Me ] : Paly, not sure you noticed it's for Harmful spells only (i assumed he rolled for his holy spec)
[Paly] : i have spells
[ me ] : Do you mean as Ret?
[Paly] : i'm also prot, and the haste is good for me
[ me ] : There are some much much better trinkets out there for you, this is a caster trinket. Sigh
the instance was over and other people in the group had already left.
The paly then traded me, and gave me the trinket, so i gave him an epic i had greeded and won from the previous boss.
I was honestly surprised when i saw the trade window open :-)

I had a moment where a fail hunter (ebay maybe? I honestly dont know how he leveled...) he was either not paying attention, or something, as he wouldn't pull more than 800DPS on boss fights. I thought autoshot would do more damage than that... Then he needed stuff off of the last boss...

I hate healing, so I'm thinking about pugging everything but the healer... I've done tank + 1 DPS before, and ive done 3x DPS (with all good feedback from the others i ran with, they were mostly amused or amazed or puzzled)

Queueing with my tank is the most fun, as i have to wait all of 3 seconds before the dungeon is ready.... Makes me wanna lvl up another tank class just so i dont have to wait for queues....

I've been puggin a lot lately, and directly following 3.3 - I had some GREAT pugs. People were enjoyable to play with. Knowledgeable of these class mechanics and group mechanics. Good sports if things went bad, etc.

Now a few weeks later, it seems its back to the same bullshit. Tanks that can't tank. Healers that are woefully undergeared for what they are attempting (but at least they are trying) and DPS that is just plain stupid.

I think I get a pally tank once a week that doesn't know what righteous fury is for. /sigh

As much as I hate gearscore because of its generalization, it is handy when a pug starts to mouse over, and see what you are up against. When im tanking and I see a high GS healer, I rush in like Leroy Jenkins and make huge pulls and have a blast. When im just a solo DPS I love it when the tank does the same. Huge pulls for my tank is the only way I'm not mana starved.

My rule of thumb is that if there are at least a geared tank healer and one dps, it will be a very smooth run. I did have a couple of healers try to heal in a DPS spec while attempting to add DPS.... never works out too well.

This may or may not help with pugs

I haven't tested it, but the concept is interesting. Good way to sniif out idiots in PvP gear trying to tank.

Ill have to get that. I like the notes feature, in case you get the same person again (does it work between characters on the same acct?)

I dunno about some of it tho, I had primarily PvP gear when I started doing PvE on my shamans, and I didn't have that much of an issue. Yeah i had more stam than I needed, not enough int, and I had to watch my aggro, but bosses died, I didnt and I went on my merry way. I like how the ingame gearscore addon keeps PvP gear on an even keel as PvE gear.

I had a 2000 gs healer in one of my heroics the other day. 0.o

How do you get so low? At least they had plenty of mana, so that wasnt a concern. If my pally didnt severely overgear heroics I would have left lol. It was occulus and I needed my achieve, so I stayed and we had surprisingly no wipes.

maybe it was a 2000 GS comprised of mostly lvl 70 epics?

But at least its proof that a decent player in crap gear is better than a crappy player in full T10 with a 6k GS...

My Warrior in fresh lvl 80 greens and blues (all quested) had a ~2300 GS. /shrug

I've seen some players at 80 rocking ilvl 138 gear though (thats the stuff you get in Howling Fjord / Dragonblight)

I'm running with Wolfslayer's Crest on my 4 shaman and there are 2 'easily' obtainable upgrades. One from a Q in Icecrown, which gives a 178 rare with crit instead of m/5s or the 219 shield from PoS normal.

So i'll be running around with a green shield untill i got that shield from PoS x 4 :D

note: Awesome how a wowhead link gets turned into an [itemname] instantly. Love it!

This is how my Halls of Stone went:

Paladin Tank: Anyone have spare water?
Me: Just keep Divine Aura up.
Paladin Tank: It is on CD.
Me: It refreshes when you hit things, pull faster, and you also get mana from being healed

(this is where I started to worry)

1st boss no problems, jump down the hole.
Tank engages 3 mobs on the left, completely ignores 3 mobs on the right and then we get the 2 pats as well. Tank is beating merrily on the 3 he engaged while the other 5 runs over and kills the healer with a few chain lightnings thrown in and the rest of the group goes down.

Recover, kill maiden, get to the event.

Me: Do you know how to tank this?
Healer: Have you done this before?
Tank: Done it like 4 million times

As soon as the casters were thrown into the mix he lets some through. I engage the strays. He starts running after the strays and lets more through. Now he is running all over the place trying to get aggro on random mobs /facepalm

People leave.

You talking behind my back again? I did 875 dps you know and my viper sting hit hard on those melee guys. And Huntard needs all gear!

My buddy does this which I find funny. Although his mindset is sell everything even upgrades except weapons as the gold he gets will buy him the nicer upgrades at 80. Meh. I guess I can kinda understand that but you are gimping yourself during the leveling process.

I said I was sorry >.<

I left a group last night where everyone but my lock was under 3500 GS. No GS in the world can save you from not moving out of the GIANT LAZER BEAMS THATS RAPING YOUR FACE!

Maybe im getting picky, but I ditched a run that wiped on the second pull, but they took FOREVER to start doing anything, didnt pull right (not LoSing casters that nuked the healer, caught 3 pats...) Luckily I have a ton of Alts that all need gear so I just logged a diff toon while I waited out the debuff...

Yesterday I was in a group where a warrior with a huge ego decided he should tank instead of me. I don't have a dualspec on my paladin, so I just sat there doing white dmg the entire instance.

Oh well, him, the healer, and another 3500dpsr carried me through the instance and I got free badges. Yay.
