View Full Version : Getting from slaves to masters

I use hotkeynet and have one master and two slaves following me. Do any of you use a program that would allow my characters to either follow closer or farther. Else, have you a way to move the slaves using other keys instead of WASD? I have been rather successful, but it's annoying if I overshoot a monster and find my other members can't even hit the target because it isn't in front of them. Any suggestions?

If your using hotkeynet then unbind the arrow movement keys on your master pc, and then add just those movement keys to go to your slave pc's. This is the way I could control my wingmen PC's if i overshoot a monster. Heres my movement key script i use :)

I had to dig it up but this is my basic movement code. Can be easily expanded to 5 other pc's // MovementHotkey capsLockOn W, A, S, D, Q, E SendLabel w1, w2, w3 Key %Trigger% // MovementHotkey up, down, left, right, Q, E SendLabel w2, w3 Key %Trigger% // This makes it very hard to blindside my hunters which I can hit capslock and all my hunters turn like a battle turret. One of them will get a Creep every time. Who thinks coming at me from a angle is a disadvantage heh.

Hi Multiplayer;
If I read this correctly, you're saying that you are able to successfully move your LotRO slave PC toons from your master system using movement hotkeys?
Are you actually running toons on separate physical boxes or just multiple windows on the same PC?
If separate boxes, how long have you been running this setup? I have never been able to get movement keys to transmit as a "key is held down" key press to slave boxes.
Any further insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya Visman,
I used hotkeynet for a while, and started with 2 older PC's with about 2GB of ram apiece. Later I added a 3rd one.
Ok, this is how I got my movement going in hotkeynet. I am going to assume your familiar with most of the functions of hotkeynet.
1. I load up all my hotkeynets on the master and slave pc's
2. I then load up my lotro's on each of the pc's and once each one is on the character screen I stop there for a bit.
3. Going into the options screen on each pc and change them to window mode.(one thing is hotkeynet can only send movement keys to apps in window mode. )-however once your done you can switch back to fullscreen mode.
4. Using hotkeynet rename the window function, I manually rename each LOTRO window to something real simple or if you prefer the incredible long window name just put them in lol .
(LOTRO1, LOTRO2, and LOTRO3 )
5.. Once named I load up my main script on my master pc. The following one is my basic one.
<Label w1 Local SendWinMF LOTRO1>
<Label w2 192.168.1.xxx SendWinMF LOTRO2>
<Label w3 192.168.1.xxx SendWinMF LOTRO3>
//=====================Movement================//
<MovementHotkey capsLockOn W, A, S, D, Q, E>
<SendLabel w1, w2, w3>
<Key %Trigger%>
<MovementHotkey up, down, left, right>
<SendLabel w2, w3>
<Key %Trigger%>
Depending on what group Iam playing i got different ones setup but the one above is good for groups consisting of the same class, all hunters, all runekeepers, etc.,
The first movement code will move only my main toon, and only move all of them when i turn on the caps lock key.
The second movement code will move only my slave toons, and only using the arrow movement keys.
The Q and E keys are binded as mirror opposite on each slave pc, so pressing Q spreads them out, and pressing E closes them together nothing fancy, but it looks cool with hunters and runekeepers lol. However the Q and E key are unbind on my main pc.
6. once everyone is loaded up i test the movement keys, i use the arrow keys and should only see my slave toons turn around once that is done I return the windows to fullscreen mode.
What makes this work is sendwinmf i use the strongest hotkey send method, but the last time i check sendwin also works good too now.
I can confirm that movement does not work with multiple windows running on the same pc. lotro was never designed for that anyway so you if dual with 2 pc's it should work.
i had switch to innerspace, because of that one limitation, but with a little bit of scripting magic i can duplicate similiar innerspace actions with hotkeynet its just i can only afford so many pc's LOL.
hopes this info helps you.

Hey Multiplayer;
Thank you so very much for that info. It seems the only thing I didn't do was to start up in windowed mode for the script load. If I interpret what you wrote correctly, I can switch the windows back to full screen after script load (or is it after each toon loads), correct?
I am actually triple-boxing (one box running Vista, one running XP, and my iMac running XP through bootcamp).
When I get back from vacation, I will be sure to follow your steps identically and will then report back here with my findings. If it works, there are going to be some seriously ticked off PvMP players on my server. Many already discuss my "cheating" in kin chat and start forming large raids when I log in.
If I can actually turn my guys in unison versus being stuck with /follow, I'll be a truly formidable force. Right now, Burgs gang up on my main to try and disable my slaves. Of course, I can keep shooting but have to slide my mouse (and turn my chair) to turn (and subsequently run).
This newfound solution will be a boon to my strategies (I like your spread tactic with Q & E).
I love reading in OOC that "so-and-so Champ cannot be taken down". This is typically followed by my BAs flaming him up, followed by a dose of triple-shot shadow damage and the grabs finale head shot.
I'm so anxious to try this out. Thank you again for the feedback.
Talk to you soon.

Np, and you interpreted correctly, once you got your script loaded and check to see if the movement code is working you can switch the screen back to fullscreen mode with no problems :) you can do this with the toons fully loaded or right there on the character screen since the option button is right there anyway. Yeah its amazes me that if ppl are ganking greens like 8 on one its not cheating, but let a guy blow you up with 3 BA's and its a massive problem LOL. yeah you love the look of shock on ppl when your team turn as one and blow the horrible little hobbit burgular away who naturally assume you were cripple because he jump the guys in the back of the line LOL. he should have brought more hobbits lol,

This is one vacation I wish would end sooner than later. I am really anxious to try out the new movement setup.
Yeah, I actually had to explain to one of my kinsmen how I wasn't cheating. He felt that I had an unfair advantage when killing Freeps and when doing quests.
"But you can hit one target with three times as many shots."
"This is different from three separate people playing BAs and chatting on TS, how?"
"Well, you can complete all of those quests a lot faster and make three times as much money."
"Let me break down the math for you. I have a quest that says 'Collect 10 pieces of slug meat'. I run out there with my three guys and have to kill/loot 30 mobs--THREE times as many as your one guy. All THREE of my guys have to buy pots. All THREE of my guys need stones. Do I need to go on?"
That pretty much ended that discussion. Now, he's pretty much the first one to ask if I want to head out to the 'Moors when he's on.
Heh. "...he should have brought more hobbits". I should get our tribe leader to change the MotD to that.
Thank you again for your input--I'll be sure to provide feedback when I return Tuesday evening. :)

Hey Multiplayer;
I just wanted to let you know that I followed your steps and, indeed, all three of my toons now move in unison. I cannot believe that the solution was as simple as the timing/order of the setup that you made.
I am now logging in to wreak havoc.
This weekend, I'll spend a bit of time reworking some of my hotkeys to make things more efficient.
Thanks again!
