WoTLK Collectors Edition Pet

I have a copy of the collectors edition (pet code intact). Does anyone know if you can get the CE pet on an existing non-CE account or is that pet tied to the CD key? I hope this makes sense. :)

You can 'upgrade' your non-CE account to the CE version by using the code. You will not be able to re-use the old non-CE code.
