ele shaman pre-heroic pve gear

As a new player i've made some costly mistakes when i hit 80 on my paladin. Spent a small fortune on the wrong gear. I wasn't defense capped at all, hence why i was often in trouble doing instances. I used this (http://www.wowwiki.com/Gear_mechanics_of_paladins_as_tanks) guide to replace the pieces that were wrong, and which could be earned without running instances.

Well i'm basically in the same situation with my ele shammies. I have zero hit rating as i was under the impression that was only for melee, i have only spell power/mana regen/crit stuff. So I'm basically looking for a guide like the above. Haven't found anything good through google as most is outdated. So basically the gear an ele shaman should have when he is done questing and without running an instance.

Anyone has some good link?

Unless you are doing raids Hit rating is less of an issue if you are just farming Heroics.

Your gear is plenty good enough to start running the easy heroics (UK, gundrak, VH). You will probably wipe a lot but it will still be a lot cheaper than buying stuff off the AH and you gain valuable experience. Short cooldown flame eles = boon to starting out with shamans.

The single biggest upgrade would be weapons though, if you have the gold to splash around there are some not so great ah options (dagger and mace) or the argent tournament weapon (but that will take several days if you haven't started collecting champ seals yet).

Thanks mate, thats a relief that my gear choice for my shammies isn't as bad as i expected. You're not saying this cause its xmas right? :P

Yeah i haven't started the argent tournament yet. Might do that tonight.

And about the AH: if i see an upgrade i usually buy it. But there is virtually nothing useful in this range (and i check it multiple times a day) that is worth the money (i mean with this that i'm not gonna pay a few 100 gold for +10 sp per piece).

What do you mean with 'short cooldown flame eles = boon'? Too much haste? I didn't put any points in the booming echoes for that purpose.

10 minute fire elementals, when first starting out it takes about 10 minutes between bosses and for some (undergeared) they are very important, like the collusus in gundrak, 1st and 2nd boss in UK they really help.
