F-ing random dungeon finder gives me HoR or Oculas... neither of which I can/care to do.
once it's given me them back to back I usually quit playing for the day and go do something else like watch TV.

lol.
Whenever I get PoS, Occ, or HoR I just /afk for 15 minutes, or harass guildies, or harass the cat / wife. Then try my luck again.

I haven't even finished Occ on normal. I just pick another heroic manually and go finish that, a nice easy run like Strat or UK or HoL and then random again.

I got Occulas yesterday. Just zoned out and took a 15 minute break.
I can deal with everthing else. You know the newer dungeons (FoS/PoS/HoR) have a "gear check" requirement to queue up in the random dungeon finder right? So Blizzard thinks your team should be able to complete it.
(I see PoS being an exception to this, because the Forgemaster boss is a complete cock-block)

occolus isnt that hard anymore.. i just addet the makros from the "heroic tactics comp."thread to some keybinds i never use and wrote a "oco endboss" hotkeynet config that "translates" it to 1-5-> its a pretty quick hc run now after all the "fixes" done with 3.3 ...
another possibiltiy is => do another hc in the time (u can still enter a specific hc while the 15m cd is active) .. AND if u get occo .. go and kill the 1st & 2nd boss .. easy in 15min => u get a id => it should be a lower chance to get it again. well not very practicable for HoR :<
i usually go to dalaran and clear my inventorys and stuff while waiting.
I consider the 15 min breaks (occ + 3.3 heroics) as a mandatory intermission. Its like when you see that in game loading tip "Take all things in moderation, even world of warcraft." Its pretty much fate telling me I need to take a shower.

When I get occulus I usually just zerg through and kill the first boss then afk the last 5-10 mins till I can get a new dungeon. That lowers the odds of getting oculus again as you are already saved there. I can also down the first HoR boss but I dont usually bother as I dont need anything from him now. I will kill those last 2 HoR bosses at some time over Christmas though just to say ive done it.

Occulus isn't as much a point of being hard as much as just plain sucking. It's slow, a hassle and if you really want to do it as painlessly as possible you need special macros. It just sucketh.

I have a personal vendetta against HoR. I've completed it once, in a grueling 2.5 hour match with guildies where we actually had to summon up the scrapbot to repair at one point...
Of course the OH sword didn't drop on the final encounter.
Since then I've tried it about a dozen times in a PUG, and never even MADE IT to the first boss. Sometimes it's because I'm stuck with an undergeared short-bus group (it considers ppl with gearscore 4000 sufficient for that place? C'mon!), and sometimes because I'm with a well-geared short-bus group.
It seems I'm doomed to be the only 4800 GS rogue with an iLvl 187 offhand...just can't get myself a decent offhander to go with my new sword spec since getting Quel'Delar! :P

PoS, HoS, Oculus and HoR are the instances that I cannot do sadly, but HoR is the only instance that I wont even attempt.
At the very least when I get those other instances i'll clear the first few bosses so that at the very least i'll get a badge or two from the instances.
PoS i'll just clear all of the trash for a chance for the hilt but aside from that I wont attempt the bosses until I think I am ready.

This is what I do very often. Stop take a long break to shower, make some food (not at the same time, like Kramer) and maybe even toss in a movie to get back in the mood. Come back refreshed and ready to tackle the next objective.

Oculus was the very first randon heroic I got. The first boss was too easy (and I suck at heroics). Then I spent two hours trying to do the rest of the damn instance.
So, anytime I get Oculus now, I just kill the first boss get the emblems, then zone out.

I found something interesting today. I was able to beat the Forgemaster on my first try. After a bad pull in which I pulled all the adds as well as Forgemaster, i ran my team down the steps and down the path that i had just cleared thinking it would reset the encounter. It didnt reset the encounter, but it did increase the distance he had to run to get me after his visits to his forge. This extra time couple with frost resistance and spamming a lot of chain heals allowed me to down him the first try.
I will expermiment a little more by parking my toons far away, and using bubble on the long pull. Anyhow, just thought I would share what worked for me.

I got AN 4 out of 5 times last night... then Oculus came up... I logged out.
The ez mode on Garfrost in PoS is to equip two of the three Nax frost resist pieces on your team, and drop a frost totem (except the tank which I don't bother with resist gear). He's kinda easy when your not having to heal all the time. When he runs to the forges I run behind a block to chain heal and clear the stacks. That said I have been killing him everyday and have yet to see the ilvl232 spell power dagger drop. I also have spent hours in PoS and FoS clearing trash and have yet to see a hilt, I have seen 3 random epics but no hilt. Makes me wonder if the hilt is just in the random drop list and I am just unlucky. It would be nice if it was seperate from the random drop list... oh well.

i've cleared POS and FoS roughly 5 times each, never seen a hilt. Had about 5 random epic drops.

I know how you feel. I haven't tried HoR yet with my team but I tried FoS and failed horribly on the 2nd boss and gave up after 5 times. Frustrating, I think with enough luck I could get it but we're talking hours of trying and running back and ugh.
Doing the new instances on my tank however is fun. There's some real noobs out there in the pugs but also some shockingly skilled and uber geared people too and if you're tanking you have a lot of control over how the run goes (generally smoothly). I've used my 5 man team a lot less since the new lfg tool. The huge incentive (for me) with boxing aside to see if I could do it was the instant group factor. Now I can get that at 1/5 the price heh. I'm not sure if I'm going to renew my additional subscriptions.

Ya I have my teams parked outside of the ICC 5mans. I queue up for the daily and if it sucks I just run regular PoS or FoS and then queue again. If I need to repair I hearth 3 to Dalaran and repair then summon them back and do the same for the last 2. Pretty nifty if you dont care about being in Dalaran all the time.
edit: make sure you kill the first boss in the heroic so you get saved, otherwise I seem to get the same heroic again, although it may just be coincidence.

The "adds" on Forgemaster are part of the event. You'll get them everytime. :)
Its basically a "group strat check". If you're group is retarded and doesn't let the tank get aggro, it'll probably be a wipe.

Those damn slaves never wait for the tank to get aggro. They are so stupid!

Why park outside the dungeon? You can still use the dungeon tool to pick a specific dungeon even if you are on random dungeon cooldown.

I just did a random, and we got Occulus, and only the tank and I stayed (I was solo playing one dps) and we went through 6 people dropping out before we were able to complete it. We one shot everything, nobody died, and it was quick. It's pretty easy to do these days, and your drake scales with your gear. IMO just suck it up and do it. OR use the feature to select another dungeon and run that for 15 min then roll the dice again.
HAH blizz implemented more lewtz to Occ so people will stay to finish it! There is now a reason to do this crappy instance.
To encourage players not to shy away from the many invigorating adventures to be had in The Oculus, we have applied a change to enhance the rewards players are provided when selected for this dungeon via the Random Heroic option in the Dungeon Finder. Once Ley-Guardian Eregos is defeated, one loot bag per character will be provided in his chest in addition to the current rewards. Each loot bag will offer players rare gems, two additional Emblems of Triumph, and a chance of being rewarded the Reins of the Blue Drake. These fine treasures could be yours should you honor your fellow party members by besting the challenges contained within The Oculus! Keep in mind, however, that these extra loot bags will only be awarded to each party member if Oculus is selected by the Dungeon Finder when players choose the Random Heroic option.
In light of this change, the Reins of the Azure Drake will now have a chance of dropping in both 10- and 25-player versions of The Eye of Eternity.
