View Full Version : How many of you have a setup where you can easily switch main?

I've seen on the ISBoxer videos that you can swap instance of wow that is in the "main window" very easy, I think keyclone does the same.
Now, I haven't bothered exploring that since I play a tank + others team, so if the tank is dead, things are normally going south anyways.
But, I realized that things like this might make macro editing and similar activity easier - So the questions are:
- Do you normally set up your teams so that it can take advantage of main switching as described above?
And, if you do - How do you set up the graphics options in wow?
Currently I have 5 symbolically linked wow installs, 1 main that is in wow set to run a higher res and higher details, and 4 slave instances that are running wow at minimum quality and resolution (again, resolution set in wow, as well as in keyclone maximizer).
Now, if I wanted to be able to swap windows like described above, would I run all wows at "max" resolution and let keyclone / isboxer scale them?

I use the FTL system from the ISBoxer wizard + my own "base" keymap. My base keymap is the keys I use to control things that have been modded to work with FTL. I still only run higher graphics on my main than any other toon, when I swap toons, it's to do a collection quest, or because I need to do some trade skill or bank function. If I swap characters in a dungeons, it's because the fight is on auto pilot and i can swap toons to watch CDs and make sure spells are timed correctly.

Do you also run lower resolution on the slaves and does ISBoxer increase that when you swap?

No, all my wow's run at the same resolution. the slaves are just scaled down.

Ahh ok, so same resolution as main, then maximizer / isboxer scales down?

I do the same thing as Supernova09. ISBoxer = win.

You have a number of keys (and can configure more, as desired) where the slaves will do whatever is on the same key that the master pushes, but at the masters target. It doesn't make a difference which toon is leading, when using these. By default they are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, - and =.
You can also put abilities that do not matter for targeting anywhere you like. And broadcast to the windows you configure, or to everyone. Totem macros are in this category. So is eating/drinking, mounting etc.
Any key can be round-robin or staggered, just depends how you set it up.
Everyone has their own system, which evolves over time.
I use Shift F1 through Shift F10, for functions, which are the same on all teams.
Shift F10 is my ground mount.
Shift F3 is my rez macros.
That kind of thing.
And then have a variety of hotkeys, which do whatever depending on the team.
I like to use Shift + A through Shift + Semi-Colon (keyboarding home row), along with 1 through =.
It doesn't matter who leads, since if I need assist on a key, I have it set up.
And if I don't need assist, then it just needs to be made into a keymap which broadcasts to the desired toons.

Keyclone works differently as far as I am aware. Keyclone will not scale the slave windows but actually set the required resolution whenever you swap windows which makes swapping of windows slower especially when you have lots going on.
