View Full Version : [ISBoxer] Stop Strobe Follow when switching toons in instances

Hello,

First I have to say that I love ISBoxer and Innerspace. It's the best; however, I'm having a problem trying to figure out one thing. When I go into an instance and do a spreadout formation, I don't want all the toons to automatically follow whenever I do a switch. Sometimes I might want to, but just for the initial targeting sequence I don't want them to change.

For example, I come to a new mob encounter, I do my spreadout formation, mark my targets with my main, then I want to switch to my mages to setup their focus targets. When I switch, I don't want all the other toons to turn and come to my mage.

I've tinkered with this a little before using the wizard. It seems like I either have to turn it off completely all the time or have it turned on all the time. Is there a middle road to allow me to do as described above?

Thanks,

Johnny

I have my windows setup to execute a keymap with 2 steps when I switch to them, the first step is a macro to turn follow strobe off for that character ONLY. The second executes my follow strobe macro to make everyone follow that character. The steps reset after 2 seconds.

So when I'm in the middle of combat or prepping positioning as described I can flip to a character and move them by pressing the key once... or if I want the world to follow, I just doubletap.

Shift+Alt+F just toggle it on and off makes it easy i redid the key to the pause break button so it kinda like keyclone

Zanthor,

How exactly did you do that combination? It sounds perfect for what I want. After reading your post I checked out my setup. I configured my hotkeys to switch to each character by assigning F1-F5 keys to each one of my character slots under the character set that I use.

I don't see anyway to add another step to it so I'm assuming that you have setup the hot keys in some other way. Could you elaborate more please?

Void - thanks for the input, but that doesn't work for me because as soon as I switch, the new toons automatically changes to the Jambamaster with strobe on. I found those settings as I said above as well while looking for how Zanthor did his. If I drop the following setting it would work as well:

Hotkey to switch to this character - I assigned F1 to tank.

Checked is - When I switch to this character...

I have Do this Mapped Key and mine is setup for Control as the Key Map and the Mapped Key is Follow/JambaStrobe/JambaMaster

If I leave the keymap as blank, all the other toons no longer change to the new toon. However, using Zanthor's idea... a double click of the key would have them follow.

Redo your wizard setup and unclick any jamba option.. (there probably is another way to do it but I find this easier)

Problem solved. IF you do that though. You will have to do alt-shit f if you switch leads or you have entered into a fight that causes them to come off follow.
But with this when you switch screens auto follow is not activated and you can do what you need to.

I turn on strobe follow for long runs or if I do not plan to switch toons. Or I turn it on to get them to follow then turn it off.. Double tap. On for follow, off so they are not strobing.

So, with your set up...

You have everyone following behind the tank (for example).
This is strobe follow.

On a character switch, none of the automatic follow options occur.
Otherwise, everyone would immediately follow the new toon.

So the new toon, is still on auto follow / strobe, following the tank.

Press the hot key once, to release the current toon from Strobe.
Which gets you independent movement, for that toon.
Or press it again, to have the others Strobe follow transferred to the new toon.

Sorry guys I am still confused here.

Question 1. what exactly is making my toons auto follow after I switch window? The jamba strobe is off for me at all times. Did it get enabled when I do window switch ?

Question 2. How do I assign keymap to a window switching event ?

This frustrates me big time in ICC5 man. As I can't control individual characters when I want to. I see no benefits by having auto follow after window switching.

If you used the ISBoxer wizard to set up your toon there is a chance that Strobe follow on Window change was ticked. I have mine set to just set Jamba Master on Windows switch. I do not have ISBoxer in front of me but you can change the setting in the same section that you set CPU Affinity.

Thanks Fizzler.

I find it in the xml.

<Slots>
<Slot>
<ForegroundMaxFPS>60</ForegroundMaxFPS>
<BackgroundMaxFPS>30</BackgroundMaxFPS>
<CharacterString>blahblah</CharacterString>
<EffectType>OnFocus</EffectType>
<GenerateFocusTargetMacro>false</GenerateFocusTargetMacro>
<GenerateFollowMacro>false</GenerateFollowMacro>
<GenerateFollowEnablesJambaStrobing>false</GenerateFollowEnablesJambaStrobing>
<SwitchToKeyMapString>Control</SwitchToKeyMapString>
<SwitchToMappedKeyString>Follow/JambaMaster</SwitchToMappedKeyString>
<FTLModifiers>
<FTLModifierEnum>LShift</FTLModifierEnum>
</FTLModifiers>
<CPUCores>
<unsignedInt>1</unsignedInt>
</CPUCores>
</Slot>

change Follow/JambaMaster to JambaMaster it will only load JambaMaster Keymap with no more follow.

Man, I'm enjoying the holidays. Lot's of time to tinker with things.

Well, this is the final answer to my own question after all the feedback and stuff. Basically, I left my Pally with the setup in ISBoxer to to run the Control Keymap with the "Follow/JambaStrobe/JambaMaster" option.

For each toon now, I've created a macro that does the same thing and just dropped it into a button.
/jamba-team iammaster all
/jamba-follow strobeonme all

So now, when I'm in an instance, I lead with my Pally, setup my formation, so strobe goes off, I can change to any of my toons for setup/focus/whatever.

On the outside world, when I switch to another toon, they do nothing unless I click on my macro and now they are in charge.

Did I mention the fact that I love ISBoxer and Jamba? :)
