Curious... as there is a huge amount of requirements and raid encounter changes when doing the quests :(
I was considering it and leveling them before my rogues to do so... BUT i think it would be a waste :(

Wtf are you talking about?

I even stated that the quest chain changes raid encounters so you can finish them (adding unholy/frost/fire incarnations or however they put it to shadow axe you get after the saronite turnins).... so no you can't loot it, it's a quest chain from mograine.

The biggest biatch would be the 1k kills and 50 shards though.

The axe off of Lord seems like it would be amazing as the lifesteal (shadow damage) proc is like 15% or some obscenely high number.

OOPSIES. Meant shadowmourne >_> my bad, editing title. This is definitely a retard moment for me considering i discussed it with two guilds on illidan for about an hour earlier what a spot in raids would cost for normal 25 man once all content is cleared.

From what I understand, the shards are looted from raid bosses in ICC. You need a shit ton of them, and I'm sure they are BoP.

So its not just a "raid" spot - its basically a permanent spot in their guild, as you'd have to be present to loot so many shards. And, as I'm sure they've already got people internally wanting the damn thing - good luck getting it before the next expansion.

i would love one for my DK but with the amount of work required it just doesnt seem possible, although i said that about getting scarab lord title and i managed that. so mate go for it if you want it bad enough im sure you will get it eventually.

25m raid orange farmed loot --> not yours

It would be major lulz to have this x5 on retadins...I just don't see it happening.

Even if you don't get shadowmourne, and its unlikely unless you are a hardcore raider on one char, its worth getting at least the pre-shadowmourne (shadows edge or something?) weapon and its (relatively) easier.

Step 1 requires you to get to friendly, just farm ICC10 trash.
Step 2 requires 25 primordial saronite (23 x25 badges or a lot of gold and trade/AH) and some other minor things
Step 3 requires you to kill boss 7 & 8 in wing 2 of ICC25 (opens Jan 4th or so?)

Once you finish all of these steps you get a ilevel 264 2h axe with very nice stats for a warrior/DK. "Value" is somewhere between 50-100k gold, considering you can sell primordial saronites for 2-4k gold each. Of course, in 5 months prim saronites will be 100-300g each making the axe much, much easier and cheaper to obtain. But then again a few months after that Catacylsm will be out and you can loot a green weapon with better stats probably :)

That is correct. But you do not need a permanent spot in a guild just a group of pugs who are not retarded and can do the extra things for the few fights in order to get the "upgraded" version of the ilvl265 axe.

After that... as long as you can pug 25 man icc (if the first 4 bosses are any indication this should be doable, just like ToC 25 was pugable) you will get an average of 5ish per week. So it would take you about 10 weeks to get it, opposed to someone doing HICC25 which can take a minimum of 3 weeks if drops are good.

The BOP item is only able to be looted by people on that part of the quest chain, so the amount of people on that part of the quest will be very few. It's a very large investment even for a single character (~ 20,000 gold) even to get the starter axe for the chain.

It is very doable, especially if you have guilds you can run with or...if need be buy a spot in their raid (as 1 dps will not make or break the encounters) as long as you are competent. It just requires a lot of time, and preperation. Paladins with frost resist gear + divine sacrafice + frost resist aura can easily mitigate the 43k damage from the 3rd boss to around 20k leaving them with about 7k life left after getting some ICC gear... so one or two heals from a paladin or shaman would get them back up to full for the next blow. (this needs to be done 4 times)

But you can't get to the part where you can get shards till like February.

From a strictly arena/bg perspective I think i'd rather have Bryntroll, the Bone Arbiter on my ret team to be honest. It has a reported 11% proc rate with no ICD and procs on all AoE weapon hits Probably going to try buying the drop on my DK at the very least

I'd actually prefer those too. I don't plan on spending over 200k on weapons + have to spend 12 weeks of my life farming for shards... nty. It's not THAT big of an improvement over the Bone Arbiter anyway. The proc rate was "confirmed" 15% with testing on the ptr or whatever. Even so... 10% chance to proc is a very nice proc rate with no internal cooldown.
