Don't Bother farming specifically PoS for Battered hilt

The drop rate for the Battered Hilt has been increased.
The Skeletal Slave in the Pit of Saron has had the ability to drop the Battered Hilt and other random drop epics removed.


At least they upped the drop rate.

PoS still is the best place to farm Hilt, even without the skellies.. lots of trash in there.

Did they make it only drop in Heroic? I've only done 5 normal runs but my guildies had done at lease 15 normal runs with no Hilt.

I've run the new 3 dungeons, not a lot, but a good bit. Just farming trash mainly. No hilt yet, but that's probably because it's not plate. If it was plate, I'd be swimming in the fuckers.

It only drops in heroic, has been that way since the start.

I farmed FOS and POS like made for days when the patch went live with no hilt. I've had pretty much all the other trash epic drops at least once. Starting to piss me off to the point I might buy a hilt for 13k gold...ugh

Speculation i know but I had one hilt drop from POS, then continued to grind for 2nd, needless to say it didnt drop. However, i ran one shammie through the questline and got the mace, after which another promptly dropped when i continued the grind. I was wondering if a group already pocessed a hilt does it lower/negate the chances of another dropping? Probably not but you never know :o

I have no hilts and have cleared PoS trash since 3.3.0a went live around 20 times without a drop. I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist and that I'm crazy for farming for it! Although, I have made a decent amount of gold from all the farming so far.

I feel your pain. I have been farming PoS trash and doing a full clear of all the instances and have yet to see one.

From questing and gathering in WoW I suspect their drop rates are timed instead of just percentage based. I would frequently get a spike of drops and then nothing for a while and then another spike. If someone else is farming the same drops then my drop rate would go down even if my kill rate stays the same.

This is pure speculation and based on a gut feel from collection quests. If it is true though it means that the more people farming for the hilts the smaller your chance of getting one.

I've always felt (pure speculation, also) that the way their drop system is works is total-kills based on say, a server level. For instance, if something is a 1 in 1000 drop rate then every 1000th kill on that server (or however it's grouped up) drops the item. I've *always* had better luck for epic and rare drops during off hours and this is the best system I've seen proposed that fits with my experience. To that end, I definitely try and farm when the server is a dead zone :)

I ended up getting the Epic fist weapon tonight like 7-8 times and the wrists twice as well but no hilt tonight. My eyes are going buggy trying to get this damn thing.

Hilts sell for upwards to 18k on my server STILL... so some servers it might be worth the time to farm em.

Ive been clearing the heroics nearly every day since the patch came out and im still yet to see one. A solo player in my guild has lucked out and got 3 already though. Just shows how awful RNG can be sometimes :)
