Hello all - still new to this Multiboxing stuff. About 30 hours now under my belt. My first team (mixed) just hit 60 and I'm about to boost my second team. Because I just took off, without as much thought as I might have made, I have a 60 Pally, Mage, Shammy and Hunter. My healer will be a priest that is at lvl 50 on my main account just waiting for 10 granted levels.

My Prime Goal:
Is to have fun, and play the way I want to play. Please note, for me fun will be taking a group of 5 mixed classes from 60 to 80 as a team, being able to run some of the early 60 dungeons (Ramparts/Blood Furnace), and then questing hard to 70, where I will go to Northrend and plan on trying ALL instances, and then of course to farm 5-man heroics. I'll do very little, if any, PvP with the mixed team.

What I'm looking for:
A 5-man mix with good Synergy. To me the challenge is in 5-boxing itself, I dont want to fight the group makeup, but at the same time, I don't want 3xShammy + Tank/Heals. I want to try 5 unique Classes. (So if I ever quit 5x, I can transfer uniques to main account!)

Established:
I have right now: Pally(Tank), Priest(Heals), and Mage. These are non-negotiable, I want 80s of these classes.

Question:
I'm 90% sure my 2nd DSP slot should/will be a Shammy (Ele). Should my last slot be a Lock or Hunter? Both "ranged", both "pet handlers", but beyond that, what thoughts have you? Maybe I'm better off with Lock and Hunter and drop Shammy?

Thanks for your time and consideration. So far I really am impressed with this community.

A warlock would complement the other casters in the team more than the hunter would.

The shamans totem of wrath will enhance the spell power of all your casters.

The priest will give you spirit and fortitude, and of course the mage will give you intellect and food and drink. (portals and summons aren't really necessary for instances anymore, but you might find an occassional use for them out and about the world.

Soulstones and healthstones are nice to have. (especially since soulstones are now down to 15 minute cooldown and duration)

Hmm, I saw that before your reply. I'm watching that thread too. But it is a bit different than my question, because I don't know what the rest of his composition is. I'm also pretty sure that I only want one pet class. (Well, 2 if you count the Mage, but I have a hard time thinking of Mage as a 'pet class', even though I know it's there).

So I assume you're vote for BM Hunter + Shammy over a Lock + Shammy?

My main from day 1, through release of Wrath was a BM Hunter. (MM for Drain 2s). Macros won't be an issue....although -
I must admit I totally forgot about soul stones AND healthstones, that alone is nearly enough to make me lean Lock.

Thanks to those who have replied so far.

My vote is you should go play with http://raidcomp.mmo-champion.com/ and decide for yourself.

I would go:

Prot Paladin (tank)
Disc Priest (heals)
Frost Mage (Frostbolt spam, persistent water pet)
Destruction Warlock (Click spam, Imp)
Elem. Shaman (Click spam.)

Everyone is a caster and benefits from the Shaman a lot.
And you have replenishment and the 13% spell power increase.

Good synergy, five different classes.
Mage water/ports.
Warlock healthstones/soulstone/bloodpact
Shaman bloodlust/totems/ankh
Pally kings/easy tank
Priest fortitude/mitigation/strong heals

I agree with Ualaa. I have the same setup at you, except I have a hunter instead of a mage. Be sure one of your toons is specced to give you replenishment, as it is a nice buff. Totems also make life a lot easier.
