Used search on combinations of "server, virtual,os" did not find much

I have not really messed around with servers much, so wanted to ask......and yeah am very server illiterate
Anyone run a server setup, with Virtual os's?

Probably never going to go this way myself, why fix what isn't broken, just looking at the viability of it as my work is offering some great deals on x86 based servers from a new supplier. Some nice backbone stuff I could get for cheap and upgrade myself.
Can see a lot of great things with a server setup, flexibility, simplify deployment, easy upgrading. Os licensing may be a bit, we all go legit of course;), but other than that.......

Hows it run? I imagine this would be most usefull for the larger boxing guys, 20+ but just curious to its viability.
Over my head :p

Interesting idea, although I'm not sure of the viability of 3D applications in virtual machines.

Hmmm, then perhapes matching it with a cheap solution like this (http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1302070) could help, would add up fast though.

Probably better options than that, but thats what a quick google came up with.

Get a TechNet account and you have access to every microsoft product key, legally (if you are an "it" worker, but its a very gray area, most people who get a technet are techy enough to qualify)

Install Windows server 2008 R2 with hyper V and have fun with virtual OS. Probably not good enough to run wow off of, but theres plenty of other reasons to play around with stuff :)
