Yet another of my mice is likely to fall by the wayside in the near future. I've had it for about two years and its wearing out.

Currently I use a MX500, its a corded optical (not laser) Logitech mouse, its been fine until recently but I find that the scroll wheel is becoming sluggish and even taking it to pieces and cleaning it hasn't improved it a great deal. Besides I feel like a change. :)

So this is what I'm looking for:

More than three buttons. I need Left, Middle & Right plus two thumb buttons (forward and back), these need to be on the same side.
Optical/Laser.
Ideally the software that comes with it will allow me to set it up so any buttons above the basic five, can be bound to key presses. But if I need to use the software I don't lose basic functionality. eg Using the forward back buttons should be the standard method not some gimmicky work round.
No Razor mice, I had one before and really didn't like it.
Prefer cordless, but not essential. If it is cordless availability of spare receivers would be nice. :D
Scroll wheel should not be frictionless, my last MS mouse had this and I could never tell if the wheel was broken or my finger was slipping on the wheel.
Not cost the earth.
Must be available in EU/UK, it might be the best mouse on the planet (my Kitten might disagree) but if I can only get it in Outer Mongolia its not a right lot of good to me.

It will be used primarily for:
WoW
EVE
Crysis
RTSs
FPSs
Graphics - mainly Paint Shop Pro
Webdesign - mainly DW8
and other general tasks - mowing the lawn etc ;)

So if you have any ideas post 'em here please.

Using a Logitech MX518 atm, really like that one and one of the features I find handy for multiboxing are the buttons on the top that lower/raise it's resolution, meaning with a click of a button you can dramaticaly speed up or slow down mouse movements, handy when you have 3-4 screens on 1 PC :)

My Razer Diamondback just died on me after years of wonderful use. I miss it so much.
