View Full Version : Overall Attitude?

I've been 5 boxin' on Drak'Thul (Alliance) side for about a month now... and I'm beginning to believe that either, A. I should have rolled Horde, B. The realm I'm on is a baby sitting palace built by Blizzard (completely full of immature kids), or C. 99% of the ENTIRE population of WoW are complete buttwipes!

Lemme explain... at first, I enjoyed multiboxing and getting the occasional "OMG, LOOK AT THAT" attention. Now, I dread it! I can't even go through any city w/o people following me... or the "ZOMG HACKER... I'M REPORTING YOU". I get people also coming up to me on an everyday bases just blurting out "ur retarded", etc. WTF? Am I in the dark here, or are you all getting this kind of BS treatment as well?

I've already been reported once for telling one of these idiots to basically "piss off" (getting the wonderful "you've been warned" e-mail from Blizzard, which I think was completely unfair as I was "defending my presence").

Just in general, something that was once fun... isn't any longer because of the overall attitude of the population I "game" with. How's it like w/ the rest of you? I'm curious...

Ive been 5 boxing for about a year and a half now..... and I used to let it get to me when people were jerks, mostly because I didnt know if thier reporting me would actually get me into some kind of trouble.....

Now after several conversations with GMs, due to being reported, I actually enjoy people threatening to report me.... It allows me to smugly explain that I do not fear the "report stick" , I actually relish it and encourage it..... Most of the time the lazy bums dont even bother!!!

Out of curiosity, what level are you?

Most of my "zomg botter" somehow shifted to "zomg cheater/powerleveler/account seller" after I hit my mid-50's. I think they figured out that if I was almost 60, I must have been reported at least once.

What I find funny is the people that say they are going to report me for haveing 5 accounts and "powerleveling"..... Then they ask me, if Im willing to sell one of my toons..... :P

I get people trying to bribe me into leveling their characters. "Just put it on follow and give me XP"

lol... thanks for the quick replies. Obviously I'm not alone here... and that's kind of encouraging (weird, huh?). Anyhow, yeah... I'm nearly 40 on my 5 shaman (love boxin' the Draenei Shammies, btw.. GotN x 5 = 15 seconds of near invincibility on my lead  )!

But, anyhow... I'm not worried about them reporting. I'm just getting sick of the attention (yeah, I know... this "field" generates it, and if you can't handle it... don't do it). Was just curious to see how spread out the "negative" side of it plagued us boxers! Thanks again for the replies!

BTW, the "selling accounts" convo is a biggie here also... I get it all the time. I'm personally not into that, and DREAD leveling toons. Once I'm 70... no way in hell am I lettin' these guys go!

I hate* being at cap and if I didn't love my characters quite as much as I do I might consider selling them :?

*Well not hate, but I find the game far more fun while levelling than when just grinding rep and stuff at cap. :)

I went from "ZOMG! BOTZ!" to "ZOMG! IT'S THEM MULTIBOXERZ! AWESUME!" in about a week. Just educate them a bit or force them to watch Xzin or Elliev's movies.

Now, I'm a fuckin' rockstar.

Indeed, generally speaking I get constant whispers on my server, 80% of the people I saw from level 1 - 30 (apart from in big cities) whispered me, said something in /s or even started spamming general chat.

The best way to cope is simply a macro or two which can response to various questions / statements such as the one Vyndree wrote.

If you do, roll Alliance damnit :p

In my experience with the diablo twins and double druids, most of the "wtfhaxreportedlolololz" came from sub-30 lvls; from 20 onward things get better, and some of the 30+s tend to know who Zin is(or WAS! Quitter! :P) and I haven't had anyone accuse me of cheating recently, but I have been called zin once lately and the rest who bother to say anything know and state out loud that I'm a multi-boxer :p

I would join you guys in a heartbeat except for the fact that World PvP is not my idea of fun. I love PvP in a controlled, choose when I want it environment, so I've always stuck to PvE servers. I also value PvE progression in the game more than PvP (despite my immense need to PvP anyway), so that clinches it. =/

I'm on Blackhand and dual boxed for a couple of years but no one really even notices that. Hell I dual boxed instances and they just thought we were friends.

Once I did the 5 Shammy I got hit with a wall of what you're describing. My skin is growing thicker but still I generally try to hide when going to town now. I logoff in some building that people don't normally have a reason to go to. I hide 4 in an alleyway and just run in my main to buy/sell, etc. just so I don't have to deal.

And.... if it's /say I don't even pay attention anymore, unless I just want to chuckle. If they /tell then I'll chat with the interested and refer the angry to blizz.

I found that interacting with the other people more helps remove some of the negativity.

I'm ally, went to Gadget to turn in a quest or something, a lvl 70 horde paladin emoted me "cheer", "lol", and then "follow me". Followed him outside the gate, then he told me that he's "ready".

Attacked him as best as I could with my 5x lvl 50s, after a long while, he just let me kill him. He rezzed, laughed some more.

Then another horde (lvl 61 rogue) unstealthed and proceeded to kill off my mages, and we all died. Rezzed them all back up, got back to full health and mana, then he unstealthed again for round 2, then again for round 3.

At this point, we had another 3-4 more people outside checking us out. The hordes were able to see how we did against them (which was sad because I haven't PVPed much 5 boxing, but able to learn :) ), the allies asked how I did it.

After 15 minutes, we all waved, saluted, bowed to the hordes, got on a glyph and flew off. Continued talking with the allies for another 10 minutes (had to fly all the way to Ashenvale).

All in all, everyone were able to get their fill of fighting 5 toons at once or learn about how it's done. :D

Ya I do this, i leave my minions in a hut near thrall (got a fruit vendor in it i think) and then run around to do my business. However since ive had to go to org to train every two levels I on average add atleast 1 person to my ignore every trip lol. Most of the time Ill look behind me to find 1-2 70s following me going wtf?

I get a pretty even mix of hate/love/amusement/wtf from people but most everyone is somewhat civilized about it.

And I have a very small fanclub of people who ask me now and then how its going or w/e

Does anyone think that there is a FAR likelier chance of being ragged on when you have 5x toons with near identical names?

Like
Poolboya
Poolboyb
Poolboyc
Poolboyd
Poolboye

I would venture a guess that 5 toons with all seperate names wouldn't get near as much attention in major cities/general travel. I personally, have unique names for each of my toons so I can't say about the other way for sure.

Moreso those with the single letter changes...that's why I steered more towards "linking" them rather than alphabetizing them, D1 and D2(With facial options set to look similar to Diablo, and D1 having a Mini-Diablo pet :P)

I actually do the opposite, when I'm in Org (especially when I'm taking a quick break from instance/leveling) I put on a show :)

I'll paraphrase a recent conversation I had with a GM...

<GM> Hey again Boylston.
<Me> Hi.
<GM> You got reported again, just calling on you to "investigate".
<Me> Oh, ok. How's it going.
<GM> Good. We have a note in your file, so a lot of these complaints get dismissed quickly, but it's a slow day and I thought I'd say Hi again.
<Me> Well, keep up the good work back there. Sorry to draw attention.
<GM> Not a problem...
<GM> (normal GM close conversation Macro.)

Point is, I had been reported enough times that there was some kind of note in my file that I was "OK" and just multiboxing... Anyone else have this experience?

Never psted me again.

Oddly enough, it seemed when I first started three-boxing on LOTRO, I'd run into Chinese guys that would start following me around. One or two people asked me how I did it, and to help them set it up (not sure if it worked out).

All in all, though, I don't think I've attracted that much attention, probably because my first set of toons didn't look alike, were different classes, just looked like a balanced party. I haven't done much with my three identical Loremaster chicks yet, though :D

Lowbie zones are rife with trash-talking, unorganized, grabasstic pieces of amphibian offal. Once you get past about 30, you don't see them much and people who've stuck around that long either know about it or are much more interested in playing the game rather than championing the virtues of monocharacter play. You'll still see the occasional brain-trust-on-legs type but they're fairly few and far between. And once you hit 60+, going back to hillsbrad to clean out 70 gankers earns quite a bit of "OMG I love you guys!" comments. :P

lol... that is, if I can ever get passed the lvl 30 areas. Currently running STV... and I spend more time recovering from "ganks", than anything else. Descolace isn't too bad... and either is Dustwallow Marsh. I kind of hit all the areas.

But, you're right... the higher I get, the less BS I'm seein' thrown my way (so far, anyhow). BTW Ughma, Dallas FTW!
