So I am trying to 5 man Uthgarde Keep regular and the first boss keeps wiping my team. The ice tombs are the issue. My team is 2 locks (destro), 1 Hunter (MM), Pally Healer and DK tank.
My DK is finally at 541 defense and the pally has no problem healing. It just seems that the boss keeps Ice tombing my tank and healer way more than I remember when I ran this in a regular group.
Anyone got any advice? I am really discouraged, this is a very low level dungeon to be wiping like this :(

Nah, Keleseth is just a whore. You should set up a macro to deal with the tombs.

/tar tomb
/attack
ehh.... VERY basic idea. atleast untill your team has more hp and dps. Sounds like your just starting off.

Thanks for the info, most of my team are in blues and crafted epics.
On the attack on the tombs, should I use the tank or just have all the dps target them?

What level are your guys?
How do you assist?

You should be able to do the Prince easily enough at 61-62. As others said, you need to be able to switch to the ice tomb quickly when he casts it.

Just have the DPS blow it the hell up then get back to burning the boss.

Thats up to you, depends how fast you want that toon out of the tomb.

Well how do you assist? How do you target?

I am using ISBoxer and regions in ISBoxer for healing.
I am gonna go try keybinding a macro for all my dps to attack the tombs and see if that helps. :(

Well I finally downed the first boss and was real close on the second guys. I think my big issue is that my toons aren't assisting correctly for some reason. I may do a new ISBoxer profile tomorrow and see if that helps, right not interact with target is not working properly at all for some odd reason.
From my solo experience in PuGs heroics in general just hit harder than the regular bosses and the odd one has an extra twist?
Lastly, my locks seems to be running out of mana faster than I would like in Destro spec, their mana pool is around 12.5 k, what should I be aiming for? Or should I be using Life tap during fights to top them up?
Thanks for the help

In your dps macros you can do something like
/assist <tankname>
/target frost tomb

which will automatically cause all your dps to target the tomb and blow it up.

On my shamans I actually ran them all close to the boss. I would drop magma totems anytime the skeletons come along. This also helped with the tombs as my bears swipe would help break out the tombed character as well. Having your characters close will allow your pally consecrate to break tombs too.

You have isboxer so could drop a shadowfury on your locks over your tombed char to help break it out quickly.

On the warlocks you can lifetap if you are okay for health, plus make sure you have a supply of runic mana potions to chug to help.

So I have slept on my night of failures lol and I think I need to practice on thrash mobs to get my casting, healing and above all tank aggro working better.
What I am seeing with my dps is that they are not creating enough dps for their gear and spec, (is it worth trying Demo for my Locks?) .I think I will have to revisit their dps spam macro and see what can be modified on it.
On my healer I think he is working pretty well, probably the best of the group but I do still need to get some "oh shit" buttons setup on him to help my team more.
Finally my tank just seems to be sucking right now. I am at 541 defense but I think my health at 20k just seems to low, I did a quick thrash test ih regular HoL and he was losing health too fast in my opinion and required a lot of healing to get him through 3 - 4 mobs at a time. The down side of the healing was that it took my focus away from holding aggro and so several times I had to chase mobs down who were beating on the rest of the team lol.

I suppose my lesson from all this is that I have not done any dungeon runs up until I hit 80 and I am only now learning how to make the team work more effectively together.
Thanks for all the help and hopefully soon I will be back to having some fun with clearing these dungeons instead of creating huge repair bills lol.
I linked my toons in my signature :)

Instances will force you to use your teams abilities to the fullest. This usually means lots of macros and keymaps. You will find that you will have a special target macro for all toons. This macro will have target names in it.

When I fought keseleth he wiped me several times with frost tomb and adds.

This is how I beat keseleth ->

make a macro /target ice tomb or whatever that icy casing thing is. Put that macro in the same place for all toons. When keseleth ice tombs a toon, press the macro key and have every toon dps it down. The tomb will go away fast.

Also because of tombs and adds this encounter can be a major drain on mana. So learn to manage mana, don't be spamming dots on adds or the tombs.

Here is the order to tackle things in the encounter ->

If nothing else keseleth
icy tomb
adds
keseleth

if you dont address the adds and tombs you will wipe. Manage your mana through that time as well. use AOE on the adds.

Spam heals on the tank.

So ignore keseleth each time there are adds and clear them and tombs asap? I did manage to get a macro kind of working which was targeting the Icy Tomb and also as I went through the fight for the millionth time it seemed little easier until i finally downed him.
Funny thing for me is that I have ran all these instances (mainly as a healer on my pally and druid) and so i should know these fights better, but sad thing is that running heroics is a nuke fest with pugs and so a lot of the fight mechanics are lost and so only now am I seeing the subtle mechanics of the fights, a big example of this was the second boss in UK, I never noticed before that he does a ghost thing once you down the caster and so it seems from what I read here that the best plan is to get him to about 30% and then kill the warrior guy?
Again subtle mechanics but stuff that cause a wipe

On normal? Yeah. Heroic I'm not certain, but pretty sure it's the same.

He hits like a little girl on normal, but the tombs will hurt.

Since you have 3 pets you can just click on the tomb and hit petattack.

I took a brief look at your tank. My tank is quest geared with 2 pieces of epics and my group beat him. I think all you need to do is learn how to manage your team abilites and what your toons can do in a fight.

Keseleth also likes to move away when he summons adds and does icy tomb. When your slaves do AoE to get rid of the adds, death grip Keseleth into the AoE.

Here are some tips for future instancing ->

Target macro. You will need one for the anomolus encounter at the nexus.
Have multiple spam buttons.
Learn to strafe your slave toons out of hot spots.
You will have to set up some kind of AoE
Have a heal rotation for the tank and heal buttons for everybody. Interweave those with an occasional group heal.
Have anti fear abilities on the bar for all toons in the same spot. Thats trinkets and racials. Or use tremor totems.
dispel magic, remove curse, remove poison set up.
Oh shit buttons for all toons.

There are more but I am at work and don't have access to my interface.

Oh and practice, practice practice.

I don't know if this will work for everyone, But I've had a lot of success keeping my entire party right on top of my tank for this fight. He doesn't seem to do any AoE moves, and so I find it very beneficial to keep my DPS grouped with my tank.

Not only does this make getting the adds off the DPSers easy, but you're immediately in range for all sorts of aoe moves, nomatter who gets hit with ice block.

I'm running the four shamans and a bear, so I have it a bit easier than some, I'm sure, but basically. I just spam swipe and make sure magma totems are always down, and this boss is a joke. I'm sure there's an equivalent thing most other teams could do.

But yah, I suggest bunching up your toons and aoeing to victory. Adding a /target to your macros probably wouldn't hurt, either, but I don't need it with the way I do the fight.

The one time I set up my DPS perfectly before the fight, I actually ended up wiping on it. haha. Every since then I auto-follow right to the boss and then just back up a tiny bit to break auto follow and swipe my way to victory. :D

This may or may not work for you, but I am running a team with 5 druids; Bear, Tree and three owls. I don't bother with the iceblocks since normal aoe in my rotation takes care of them sooner or later. I keep rolling hots on whoever is trapped and go about my regular business with the prince as if nothing happened. Only time I target the ice block is if the tank or possibly healer is stuck in one.

This works really well for me both normal and hc.

If you use Seed of Corruption to deal with the zombie adds, Frost Tomb is almost a non-issue. Seed the boss when adds are up or just about ready to stand up, and Seed him again if someone gets tombed at a bad time, and both adds and tombs should be under control.

how would one go about adding up /target icy tomb in isboxers FTL assist? do I add it before the FTL part(the long line with modifiers for all characters) or after the FTL part in isboxer?

I have it before and my dps shamans did not even target the tombs I think. hard to look at my other screens when I am tanking.

or would I have to have a seperate assist button to target these tombs, charming totems, etc?

I read this somewhere on here but it has work for me too.An easy Trick to do this boss is L.O.S.(Line of sight) him if your under gear and can't go toe to toe with him. Make the macro for frost tomb like everyone says.i do /target frost tomb /cast what ever spell.Clear the 4 guy in front of Prince Keleseth then go clean out the hallway to the right of him.Line everyone up near the inside wall to the right of the door if your in the hallway about 15 ft away. Make a slight curve line or inverted flying V with the slaves where they can target each other and the door.Have tank go run and pull boss into the hallway.Make sure to get him in the room where dps can light him up.As soon as he enters the add's show up and drop aoe totems or whatever you have they should spawn right in front of you and not from behind you.Take care of frost tomb on whoever gets in and back on Boss.I don't know if they change reg Up compared to Heroic. But Heroric I think the Boss is not Immune to attack when the adds are out but not sure of it ,didn't seem like it.This tricks works on the 2nd boss in DTK all the way on the top of the stair Add's spawn right infront of you and easy to control and after the waves of Add's run everyone down and kill the boss

I had a some trouble with this boss on normal mode, until I just had my team follow my tank around during the whole fight.

I did some AOE healing during the fight and managed it this way.

I guess you can't do this on heroic but it might work :)

just put

/assist focus
/target frost tomb

at the top of your dps macro. I use a /click macro setup and the first /click has all my conditional targets in there like the frost tombs, ley guardian welps, nexus voids, Old Kingdom guardians etc.

Would seeding the boss work? I haven't played lock sense wrath but i use to love seed. With 2 you will always have 1 out to seed and if they don't get a lock you have 2 locks and more seeds. Just clump everyone together and when the warning comes up just seed. This would probably help with the skeletons.

I am struggling on UK with a 5x warlock team levels are 80,77,77,77,77.

I can't even get through the hallways up to keleseth without keeping an Infernal up. Without the infernal at-most I can burn through 3 elites before one of my toons are about to die. I tried going in with an even spectrum of demons (for all stat boosts) and also a full set of VWs as tanks. Infernal > *.

Once at kelesth, I've died over and over. My only kill resulted from:

1) Buff +Armor, Summon 5 Infernals, Life Tap, Bandage
2) Haunt Boss, Infernals Aggro Boss
3) Immolate Boss
4) Get all toons within AoE Range of Bosses, for this I just Target and Attack
5) While moving into AoE Range, drop Corruption and CoA.
6) Once stopped in Melee Range cast UA, Life Tap twice, Drain Life Twice
7) During the second Drain Life the Minions are within AoE range.
8) Interrupt your Drain Life and begin casting Rain of Fire, wiping Minions. Repeat if anyone still in Frost Tomb (/tar Frost Tomb was fail for Raid DPS. 5x AOEs worked far better.)
9) Boss is probably Debuffed, re-cast Corruption & CoA, re-apply Haunt

The remainder of the fight:

If Frost Tomb is up, AOE until gone.
If Minions are up, AOE until gone.
If Mana Too Low for AOE, Life Tap
After a Life Tap, Pop Trinkets for 1500 HP and then Death Coil Keleseth for an HP boost
Re-apply Corruption, CoA and UA as they debuff, or save Mana for AOE.

I took down Keleseth and my entire team was seconds away from wiping (an AOE causing 1000 damage would have killed everyone) and all Infernals either dismissed due to time limit or died.

I tried this tactic once before and lost with Keleseth down to 3K HP and another time 80K HP (ick!)

I'm not well geared, at all, but with an 80 and 4 L77's one would think Keleseth would be easier?

Also, Recount's real-time Raid DPS Graph shows the team putting out >4800 DPS during the fight with keleseth when all dots are ticking (~3k on shorter fights). What kind of DPS should I expect to see (this is my first time hitting L80.)

Thanks.

I just did my first heroic clear, i.e. utgarde keep. I didn't bother to target the ice tombs on first try, just spread my team out. This because i still have the rambo attitude from questing. But lost aggro with the tombs and got wiped. So then i added the target tombs to my assist macro (which is not part of my dps macro), and had my team on follow. I popped my totems as soon as i got aggro with my tank. Popped elementals who took care of the prince while i could aggro the adds with my tank. And then it's basically a constant tab spam fest (i.e. change targets while spamming dps key). This way all tombs and adds went down almost immediately.

So with my guys on /follow, the /target frost tombs, fire elementals and constant target switching it was a very easy fight.

Wiped on the next 2 bosses on the stairs cause i thought they were trash and my healer was still eating/drinking :P Second try i just burned them down without taking care of the adds.

Got ingvar down on first try. Spread out my team. First phase i burned him down and didn't need any healing besides riptide, when he comes back i did the same but then he does some aoe which brought my team down to 50% health in a second or 2, chain healed and kept dps'ing and he went down rather easy. The prince is def. the hardest part of utgarde for me.

Added a screenie as the previous poster asked what dps is needed (zenga is tank, vasco, trejo & ugo dps, poison healer. The shammies have all the same pvp gear (the stuff obtained through honor) and almost not hit rating. Just my tank is defense capped. So it's def. possible with crap gear.

The two bosses on the stairs is also a bit of a challenge for me. I tend to just Hammer them down as fast as possible. I start with the melee, and then when he is resurrected I taunt him to my tank and do some swipe hits to keep him hitting my tank, while I dps the caster down.

The final boss is pretty easy.

Really with the two guys on the stairs you should burn down the cast first, then ignore him when he rezs and just burn down the melee guy, makes it VERY easy, also make sure to bunch up your guys on them both and this prevents melee guy from charging any toons.

I have been attempting to clear this instance with my main team. For Keleseth, I have my pally cast Frost Resist Aura, and my priest casts Prayer of Shadow Protection. I stack my toons, and just use AoE spells to break the tombs and clear the skeles when they spawn, then just burn down the Prince.

For the two on the stairs, I change the Frost Resist Aura to Shadow Resist, burn down the caster, then target and burn down the melee.

I still haven't managed to take down Ingvar. I have been trying to keep my DPS and healer behind the pillars while my tank keeps him occupied, but after he rezzes, I can't manage to keep my tank healed from the increased damage from his smash and that roar he does. Any help with that encounter would be appreciated.

/edit Team just dinged lvl 73 yesterday.

Assuming it is with the first team mentioned in your signature:

- do you use lay on hands when your tank is almost dead?
- you can assist your priest with your shaman in the healing from time to time: if key 1 is your dps key on 3 toons, then copy it to key 2, but for the ele shammy add a target tank chainheal in the rotation. Just use key 1 to dps, but when your priest can't keep up switch to key 2. Your 2 dp's will keep dps'ing but your tank will get extra heals.

Back with my crap gear i used to spread my toons out as far as possible from eachother. Engage in the middle and tank as far away as possible, making sure you face him away from your team.

Shoot I multibox UK heroic every day because it's my easiest dungeon to hit for badges, lol.

Funny how some people get stuck on what I find easy and I get stuck on what others think is easy. Think it has a lot to do with team composition.

Running a pally tank and 4 druids myself. 1 resto druid and 3 boomkins. What I do for the Prince is just have everyone on follow that way when the adds spawn I don't have to run to my slaves and catch them. With everyone right there by me I can easily break their ice tombs with my pally tank and keep DPS'ing/healing.

I use ISboxer's mouseregions+healbot works amazingly well.
