I have been boxing my mixed team for a few months now. Ret Paladin, Frost DK, Disc Priest, Resto Druid. Lots of fun in AV, Conquest, and Wintergrasp. Total fail the few times I tried to arena. No biggy. Weird setup anyways.

I started to get a little frustrated when I was trying to run a few heroics with a friend. My setup is more pvp orientated. I was making tweaks on the fly, spending time inbetween bosses creating new keymaps, adjusting macros, etc.

From the frustration, I started my quad box shammys. Having a blast leveling. Doing mostly questing, having my friend boosting some instances when I got quests all gathered up. So finally got to outlands last night.

I try to avoid reading all the ret pally and dk threads, afraid I made the wrong decision :D (eventhough I read all of them, haha)

But it is really tempting, I already have 1 ret paladin, 1 frost dk. I could boost up 2 rets on the other accounts (no RAF anymore), or boost up 1 paladin to 60, get a dk on the other account, sync them up at 60 in outlands. Then use my 80 paladin or 80 dk to boost.

Just looking for some friendly input. I have about 4 days total played on the shammys.

I was def even more inspired by Heyaz Wintergrasp Ganking pvp vid:

I know it's all about the gear.

Just seems there is a lot of chatter about melee than shammys lately. Maybe its just FOTM?

Thanks,
acid

With shaman you have A LOT, more control over what happens and don't need to worry about things like fear unless the opponents are tremor totem killing. Plus as 4 shaman you can still que up and get gear EASILY.

Paladin + 4x Shaman, is easy mode for so many instances/heroics/raids, at least compared to other boxing options.

You have a lot of resists, between Auras and Totems.
And can dump 4x Groundings to eat a lot of spell effects.
You can stagger Tremors to make fear/charm/sleep inconsequential.

The healing stream totems, add up to a massive amount of passive group healing.
Which makes any type of AoE damage much more manageable.

Everyone can heal.
Everyone can rez.
4x Ankh ability, is recovery from 4 total wipes, every 30 mins (untalented); probably not wiping every 7.5 mins.

Either group will BG well.
Pretty much queue up and go.

Paladin doesn't add a whole lot, as Prot, but being in the front with the others on follow, they're frequently the main target and the hardest to kill.
You could dual spec to a deep Prot with some Holy, and be the healer with Prot gear, and 51 pts of Prot survival.

The DK/Ret team, will do as well or better in battlegrounds.

Everyone is melee and on the same page.
Death Grip and rape someone.

But shammies can nuke at range, which can be a huge advantage.

I think either team will be able to do heroics.

But the Paladin/Shamans will take less effort on your part.
Because of all the stacking tools, which simplify a lot of stuff.
