Another weird idea/question. Those who have encountered earlier posts of me might 've guessed i like to smoke good stuff in the evening :P

Anyways ...

When I quest in the same zone for a while, there are still many places I discover by accident when i return later. For discovering stuff in northrend i get 2050 xp. I assume there are a few 100 of zones/places. But that's just a wild guess.

Now later tonight/tomorrow i'll hit 77 and get my epic flying mounts. If there are indeed 100s of places to discover, i figure i might better discover them now while i still get/need xp. Might be boring, but so is questing.

So what i'd like to find out:

- anyone done this before?
- anyone knows the amount of xp that can be gained this way?
- anyone knows a site/addon/map with all zones, and eventually how to know what you have discovered yet and what not?

Next to that it would be cool to know if one would discover every possible place at his respective level (starting from scratch), how far he would get level wise. Or what % of a lvl 80s total xp could be done this way.

And on a final note, does raf apply to adventure xp as well (below 60 obviously)?

Cheers

While leveling, I got my discovery exp in Northrend. Oddly enough, after I earned the achievement, I still discovered places that gave me exp <shrug>.

I use an addon called cargExplorer (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info9079-cargExplorer.html) to help me with my achievment. Unfortunately, it does not list every discoverable area in the game.

There may be an addon or an obscure reference on WoWWiki.

Good luck!

BTW, you better share some of the stuff your smoking. :D

The acheivement is triggered from reavealing all the parts of the map - however there are usually serveral mini-zones that can reaveal a specific part of the map, hence its possible to still get discovery exp even after the whole map has been revealed.

The exp rewards from exploring are ok, but don't expect to be gaining multiple levels with it at level 77...depending on how much you've explored, you'll probably get about 1/3 to 1/2 a level. Just watch out for phased areas, as they will break follow on your alts.

Mapster is a good addon for this as you can toggle between complete and incomplete maps to see where you have to go.

Cheers,
S.

WoW tells you the area you need to discover. I have explorer in Northrend and Outland. Need to do horde starting zones for the Grand explorer (what ever that is called). Look under the aceivement menu, all you need.

You can look up the area on wowhead or thottbot, to learn the x,y coordinate you need to go to, to "discover" the areas you are missing.

Hahaha i see you are from denmark. Spent a good part of the summer in 2008 in copenhagen/helsingor/helsingborg, and of course spent quality time Christiania. Man that place rocks. All i can say is that you should be fine when you live there :P

Now making a quick bridge to Wow before we go off topic: i can't recall the times when i was flying in outland, decided to have a quick smoke and ended up on the other side of the map/graveyard :D
