Just took the plunge and setup my 5 box a few days ago. I bought Keyclone - well worth $10 I have to say.

I have a quad core intel overclocked to 2.7 ghz with 6 gigs of ram and Vista 64 bit ultimate. I also have two 30" dell monitors and a Nvidia 8800 GTS. 4 Wow directories are running off an external SATA drive. (I notice some of the instances of Wow lock for a few seconds every once in a while - I wonder if this is a drive issue)

I currently have a level 70 shadow priest and a level 70 fury warrior that I played before I knew about boxing.

I just started boxing a couple days ago (level 22 already!)

1) Paladin
2) Shaman
3) Mage
4) Priest

I have keyclone running maximizer to put all 4 wow windows on 1 of the 30" monitors (each using the processor affinity). 1 screen on the top portion for my pally tank and 3 on the bottom portion for the ranged.

I figured that I could use my warrior as a main tank once all my other guys got to 70 - so that would make a group of 5. Then I came across a post that showed how some fury warrior helped level a guy just through instances in like 1day 22h.

So my question is - should I just have my 70 warrior be the 5th man in the group and just blow through instances?

Yeah boosting is deffinately effective after 15-20 and up as high as you feel you can manage it with enough speed that it becomes faster than questing.

Using 5 classes at 70 will be ok, if a little tough to setup, but I'd be tempted to bring in the 2nd priest and tank with the paladin once you're there, spec either both priests shadow with the shami healing, or 1 holy and spec the shami elemental. Paladin tanks seem more multi-box friendly as they have higher aoe/multi-mob threat etc, just my 2c though, and welcome ;)

Thanks for the advice. I just noticed I have my 70 Warrior and 22 Mage on the same account! And the warrior is on my friends account who stopped playing about 2 years ago - so no easy way to transfer! Bummer.

first off, welcome to the world of multiboxing.

secondly, say no to accounts that are not in your name. multiboxing (which is legal) draws a LOT of attention to you from the community and GMs alike and playing an account that isnt yours is against the TOS and could get you banned. Account ownership is one of the first things GMs check for when investigating a multiboxer to make sure they arent some PL service or w/e. If you want you can fudge it and maybe get away with "nah its just my buddy at my house helping me level" but dont plan on using that warrior in your 5group when you hit 70. And paladins are better for multibox tanking anyways.

Level 26 now - moved the mage to a different account. It hopefully won't be a problem. I'm in SM now. Getting close to 100 exp per mob. hopefully that keeps going up. It seems that if I have one 70 and one 26 I get 100 exp for the level 26 guy. If I have one 70 and four 26's - I get 100 exp for the level 26 guys each! really strange.

Looks like I won't have to worry about gear for a long time and I should be able to get a few levels a day just grinding SM with my level 70 warrior with my 4 boxers parked away from the action so they don't aggro. Hopefully I can race to 40 so I can get my mount and hit ZF.
