I have various mouse buttons mapped using Setpoint to different keys on my keyboard. When I use ISBoxer, it doesn't recognize them and send them to any of the windows. My hunch is that I have to have mouse repeating turned on but I don't want anything from the mouse passed except the button pushes. IE, no mouse movement or left/right clicks EXCEPT where I have my repeater regions.

Help!

If you want to use the software which came with your mouse, you will need to run it as an administrator.

If you want IS Boxer to use your mouse, you will want to not be running the Set Point software.

Create a keymap for whatever.
Click the arrow to the right of the hotkey window.
This opens up the window, where you can push whatever key and select modifier keys.
From here, I can use mouse buttons (forward thumb button for example, comes up as Mouse 5).
Even if it doesn't recognize what you want to push, you can hit the arrow and scroll down until you see Mouse 5, or whatever button you want; my options are Mouse 1 through Mouse 8, and Scroll Wheel Up + Scroll Wheel Down.

How can I tell which mouse buttons are which? It's a Logitech MX518.

If you have the Set Point software, opening it should illustrate which button is which button number.

If Set Point is not running, pressing the button in the hotkey selection screen (where you can mouse click to set modifier keys) should interpret the mouse clicks for you. So click the desired button and it will call it Mouse 7 or whatever.

I tried that without Setpoint running and it wouldn't interpret any of my mouse buttons. I tried it with Setpoint running and it was the same deal.

Edit: Played with it some more. It will recognize two of the buttons as mouse buttons but since the other three have predefined functions that Setpoint can change but ISBoxer doesn't recognize I don't see any way to make it work. I tried to change the functions of the mouse buttons in question numerous times to a number of different things but ISBoxer doesn't care. Even with Setpoint running it will take the Mouse Buttons it knows though, which I guess is good thing.

Am I missing something?

You need to run Setpoint as Administrator. Close it, then find it to launch again, right click and select Run as Administrator. If it's not running as Administrator, Setpoint will not be able to interact with the game, which is running as Administrator because Inner Space is.

And then ISBoxer will take the mouse buttons as keyboard presses?

If so...

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Yes. I run setpoint as admin and I have had no problems with ISboxer or InnerSpace recognizing all 11 of the mouse buttons.

But you have to manually start Setpoint as administrator each time you turn the computer on?

Sorry, not trying to be stupid but do I need to run Setpoint as admin every time I log in to make it work properly with ISBoxer, or just once initially to get ISBoxer to recognize the mousebuttons as keystrokes?

Every time. It is my understanding that anytime you want a program to modify another program it must be run in admistrator mode.

Just to be clear, if you start up setpoint, ISboxer, and IS in admin mode you only need to do that after you start up the computer. If you put it to sleep, re-log on or what ever then you don't need to do that. I hope this is clear.

So start up the computer, open IS as admin, open ISBoxer as admin, then open Setpoint as admin and it should work fine?

Yes.

If you go Properties, Compatibility tab, check the option box for "run as administrator".
Do it once, and just double-clicking will run the program as an administrator from now on.

My setpoint quits working after some random amount of time.

I'm using IS & boxer, Windows 7 x64, and setpoint 4.8 for x64

It works for an hour sometimes and other times 5 minutes. I have to tab out and shut setpoint down and then re-start it and it works again for some random amount of time.

I've tried turning UAC off, and tried changing to older versions of setpoint - nothing seems to have helped.

Ideas?
