THESE VIDEOS ARE OBSOLETE AS OF 3.3
Blizzard has reduced the range that you receive XP at.
Before you watch any of these videos you should know a few things. There are not super new ground breaking techniques in these videos. I've taken multiple teams from 1-60 via questing and I just recently started boosting in instances. I found out a few things along the way through trial and error and, even though some of these things are listed in other people's videos and guides, I thought I would compile everything in a few quick and simple HD videos. If after watching the YouTube links you cannot seem get enough of the videos, there are 720p and 1080p download links provided in the description of each of the YouTube videos.
Enjoy

Scarlet Monastery - Library
I did not feel it was necessary to do a video on this wing of Scarlet Monastery. You can leave your team parked at the entrance and they will receive experience throughout the entire instance. Scarlet Diviners and Scarlet Chaplains will reset if you pull them too far. I usually kill them on the spot before continuing towards Doan, or else clean them up on the way out.

jesus how long did it take you to figure this all out for boosting with the red lines. I also thought u didnt receive exp unless ur group was like 100 yards or further away. But this is awesome esp with cata coming out. I might not do the whole raf thing again or maybe i will boost to 60 should only take me what less then 24 hrs lol. Thanks for the post good shit.

Not very long at all. The first time I would be in an instance I would do a 'test' run to see how far away they could get experience. I would just kill a single target further and further away until I wasn't receiving XP on the slave screens and then made a mental note. Of course those borders are not set in stone. If you park your guys 3 yards closer than I did that red line is move over by 3 yards...but I think they are good guide lines to base off of. I was under the impression that you'd have to be a lot closer as well but as you can see in the videos, where I'm fighting the Jamab XP meters continue to increase. Editing the videos and throwing in the 'special effects' probably took the longest out of everything. :)
Good videos for sure.

Thank you sir. You got to see the previews over at isboxer.com. :)

Hard? I never came close to dying in any of the videos. I will not pretend I didn't die though. The first time I was in Scholo I pulled so much of the instance it killed me. :) And I learned the hard way with pulling half of ZF and then getting chain hexed. :(

ZF won`t show for my country sadly.
Maybe for SM cath. It can be done faster. Just run in without agroing anyone(or just the first mob since low level chars will agro it and this method won`t pull him).
Run to the cathedral without agroing, when you get inside don`t take the middle path take the left or right and try not to agro untill you end up at the boss. Try to kill him as fast as possible then run down the path behind him to the next boss. If you are fast enough mobs won`t be onyou, instead they`ll be crying over the bosses death corpse. Then spank the woman untill she sleeps. After that you run out, jump of the fountain and then into the hallway like you did. This way it gives you the whole instance at a time.
If you run out of the cathedral while zigzagging you can manage to get out while getting hit once. The mobs are stupid and will stand still sometimes.

The video I recorded with FRAPS was a total of 2 minutes and 38 seconds . Even by doing [B]Library -> Armory -> Cathedral -> Reset I still hit the instance reset timer [if I don't loot] because you can blow through all of those so fast. Shaving 15-20 seconds off of that pull would probably not make a big difference.

Not dying.. just really complicated pulls compared to a paladin.. but we have a few little tricks that make boosting a faceroll

They are recorded at 1920x1080 and encoded at 1920x1080p. The 1080p version is then uploaded to YouTube and I of course offer the 720p/1080p HD movies for those crazy videophiles out there. :)

Looking back over the video I kill about 40 mobs in the Cathedral and 40 mobs in the first hallway. The XP in Jamba is consistent each time.
Starting XP in Cathedral 26%
Ending XP in Cathedral 46%
Starting XP in First Hallway 46%
Ending XP in First Hallway 69%
If I was missing about 100XP/kill in the Cathedral that would mean I missed out on about 4,000 XP. 4,000 XP is more than 3% of a level at level 39 according to WoWWiki (http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:XP_To_Level). If your characters are in range of XP I don't see a reason why they wouldn't receive full XP...why would XP deteriorate the further you move away. Either you're getting it or you're not. [I]BUT...I will test this out on the next team I boost to 60.

WoWHobbs and myself are both Protection spec'd, both wearing T8 or above, and we both have at least 30,000 health. Taking hits isn't the big of a deal. If someone, who is in quest blues/greens, gets puts to sleep by Whitemane they're going to get their ass beat by the entire Cathedral while they wait for Whitemane to resurrect Mograine. You can also see in the WoWHobbs video that he heals himself twice after he jumps down from the waterfall for 14,000 health because getting beat on can even hurt a level 80. Not every class has the ability to heal themselves...so taking the extra hits is not what you'll want to be doing.

By door I mean entrance (not even clearing the first hall, just the first mob so it doesnt aggro the lowbies.
And yes, this is of course different for a paladin since they can heal themselves (I bubble at the top of the waterfall and heal there, so mobs below it get time to run up before I jump down, giving them less time to hit me cause of the distance.

It all depends on what video editing software you're using. The two most basic ways of doing it are either by speeding up the clip or just cutting out the boring parts and overlaying the edges [usually resulting in a fade effect]. YouTube has provided amazing tutorials in video editing for me throughout the last few months.

If you are using windows movie maker, there is a button next to the preview that you can use to cut a clip into smaller clips (letting you remove the part you dont want).
Just tryed it out, and NO, my slaves dont get XP when i leave them at the entrace in Armory, i even went back like 40 yards, and still no XP. So, i dont think your "lines" is working :/

Well i found the "line", it was about 40 yards back. so not in that door, just a bit further back. The videos is still very good tho :)

You can see in the video that when I'm killing Herod behind my 'line' my slaves in the Jamba window are indeed getting experience.

It doesn't work for you because Blizzard nerfed the XP range in 3.3. I tested it today myself and it's nerfed. Videos will stay because for whatever reason someone may want to watch them. First post has been updated to show that these videos are no longer relevant with patch 3.3.

What is the range now? I had noticed the RAF range to be shorter than regular XP range in the past, so I got in the habit of pulling everything to the front anyway. For any pre-BC instance this should be possible (the hardest for me was stratholme, but if you get your strafing down it's not too tough to single pull it all back to the gate).
Highest I've tried to single pull back to the front is Underbog, but it's way too easy to die at the end of the pull due to mobs somehow getting behind you even when you're in a corner. I'm not sure if all XP range was nerfed - but on Underbog, ignoring RAF range past 60 - you could kill everything on the top bridge, just before jumping off into the water and the alts would get experience.
New "line" is:
Library: Still whole instance, expet the last boss room.
Armory: About 30-40 yards back. Id say stay at the stairs and kill them to be sure.
Cathedral: Just outside of the cathedral door. The "aggro-magnet" still works.
Happy boosting. Boosted my paladins 10-40 yesterday

I'm not sure what the difference in RaF range is....

As you can see whether the combat log indicates I get RaF or not there is no difference in experience. These screenshots are from Patch 3.3

Nice vids Fenril! I loved the explanations.
I'm about to start up a caster squad and dreaded the thought of having to 1-60 them without RaF (or with it for that matter).
I have a question regarding what instance to do before SM. I've heard people recommending SFK over Deadmines. Is SFK that much better to boost compared to Deadmines? If it is ... it is. I play alliance, so I'd rather not have to drag 4 toons that far early on if I can avoid it.
Id say RFC 10-20, if your horde. Its good enuf and fast :) GL.

I'm alliance - that's why I'd prefer not to make the long trek while my guys are that low of a lvl. I'll give Deadmines a go since I level in the human starting area. If it proves a pain then I'll suck it up and head over to SFK.

If you set your accounts up in order [ie; A>B>C>D>E] they can all summon each other. You run your high level booster to the instance and your slaves never have to see the outside world. And yes I'd highly recommend SFK over Deadmines because you never have to move your slaves...you can leave them parked at the entrance.

I'm alliance and when I started my setup, I screwed up my RAF setup, so I just waited till it ran out before I started boosting. I ran my alts around the starting zone a bit to get them all to 10, then grinded them through Deadmines till 15, then from there I grinded them through the Stockades instead of making that long run to SFK. At the time, I only grinded them up to lvl 20-25 to meet up with my old alts that have been sitting up at those levels also so I can run same class teams. Once I get my Pally team up to 80, I'll go back and work on my old alts some more. I used my BM hunter to grind them with. He's still in his S1 Gladiator set, so he survives on his own pretty well. Once I rounded up a sizable mob, I'd toss down an Explosive Trap to get the first hits, then sick my bear on them casting Thunderstomp to draw off aggro, then lay down Volley. Running Stocks, I've hit the instance limit this way quite a few times, so I'd have about 20-30 minutes atleast of downtime when I made the fast runthroughs. Thats when I didn't loot the corpses, but just went in for the xp grind.

I hope you mean SFK instead of RFC.
Just boosted a friend's RAF toons myself, had him quest to lvl 8, then did: (horde)
RFC: 8-10
SFK: 10-20
SM: 20-45
Scholo: 45 to 50 so far
As far as xp range goes, I have not noticed any difference, though I normally pull everything to the entrance in SM armory and cath, in library, the boosted chars could still get loot from the last boss master looted to them, so I dunno about the xp.

As of yesterday, if you leave your slaves at zone in, in Shadowfang Keep, they do not get experience for the whole instance.
My roommate is boosting some new toons, on the other faction there now. He faction-changed his DK main for the boosting. I'll ask him when he needed to move toons, and where he moved them etc. But zin, is no longer experience for the whole instance.

opie is awesome, thanks fen
first of all many tnx for videos.. many interesting info :)
I use all this instances + few others like brd (only first part)..
my main question.. what instances is best for 60-70?
I use:
1.59-61 Hellfire Ramparts:
+
U can kill all mobs in 2-3 pulls
Mobs have no terrible abilities (like mind control totem)
U can place toons at entrance for entire run
+-
Very small = very fast = "You can enter a maximum of 5 different instances in 1 hour"
2.61-63 The Underbog
+
Mobs have no terrible abilities
U can place toons neat water near enter for entire run
3. 63-64. Mana-Tombs
+
Mobs have no terrible abilities
U can place toons near right wall in the first room for entire run.
Next? Other options? many tnx :)
Nice vids man,
Great quality and awesome music aswell.
Kudos!

Thanks guys :) Remember though that these videos are out dated [minus the Scholomance video] because of the changes made in 3.3.
my main question.. what instances is best for 60-70?
After I lost RaF I had enough teams to rotate between that I could park them at level 60 so they could get rested XP. I only boosted in Ramparts if they had rested XP because Ramparts becomes unbelievably boring. I find it the most efficient XP/hour [and gold/hour] because you don't have to be bothered to move your slaves once within the entire instance. I just boost them to about 62 or 63 and move them over to Zangarmarsh to start questing because Hellfire on our server is a war zone.
