(Edit: note that the information in this thread is now slightly old, but most of it is still exactly, or at least almost, like what I'm still using. I plan to eventually get around to updating it, since I like to keep it as a backup for myself in case my stuff gets deleted)

Here is the complete writeup detailing my setup for my multiclass team (mainly) with addons, keybindings and macros. (wow, the word draft ended up at 23 pages with double spacing) xD

Now for the main buttons on the actionbar:

1 : Tanking spam button
Paladin: (will set up a proper 696 when i start tanking real raids, but so far this has been more than sufficient)

#show
/startattack
/castsequence reset=10 Consecration, Holy Shield, Judgement of Wisdom, Hammer of the Righteous, Shield of Righteousness

Druid: Blank
Shaman:

#show Purge
/cast [target=focustarget,exists][target=target,exists][] Purge

Mage:

#show
/cast [target=focustarget,exists,harm][target=target,exists,harm][] Spellsteal

Priest: Blank (sometimes put something here, like dispels for achievement on keristazsa)

2 : DPS spam button
Paladin: Hammer of Wrath (dragged from spellbook)

Druid:

#show Wrath
/click MacaroonButton12
/castsequence [target=focustarget,exists][target=target,harm][] reset=5/target Faerie Fire,Insect Swarm,Moonfire,null
/castsequence [target=focustarget,exists][target=target,harm][] Wrath,Starfire

Druid (alternative macro that gives better dps on bosses when un-commenting the assist line in the pop macro (see below)):

#show
/click MacaroonButton12
/castsequence reset=combat/target Faerie Fire, null
/castsequence reset=5/target Insect Swarm,Moonfire,Starfire,Starfire,Starfire,Insect Swarm,Wrath,Wrath,Wrath,Wrath,Wrath,Wrath,Wrath,Wr ath,Wrath,Wrath

Shaman:

#show Lightning Bolt
/click MacaroonButton12
/click MacaroonButton10
/castsequence [target=focustarget,harm][target=target,harm][] Lightning Bolt,
/castsequence [target=focustarget,harm][target=target,harm][] reset=6 ,Flame Shock,Lava Burst,Lava burst

Mage:

#show Frostbolt
/click MacaroonButton12
/petattack! [target=focustarget,harm][target=target,harm][]
/castsequence [target=focustarget,exists,harm][target=target,exists,harm][] Frostbolt,
/castsequence [combat] ,Summon Water Elemental, Mirror Image

Priest:

#show Power Infusion
/cast [target=Hydrosphere,nodead,combat][target=Atmosphere,nodead,combat][target=Biosphere,nodead,combat][target=self,combat] Power Infusion

3 : Heal tank button
Priest: (trinket use line i add/remove depending on if i have useable trinkets or not)

#showtooltip Flash Heal
/use [combat] 13
/cast [combat] Berserking
/cast [combat] Inner Focus
/cast [target=Geosphere] Flash Heal

Alt-3 : Shield and hot tank button
Priest:

#showtooltip
/castsequence [target=Geosphere] reset=15 Power Word: Shield, Renew,
/castsequence [target=Geosphere] reset=15 ,,Renew

4 : Heal druid button
Paladin:

#show
/cast [target=Biosphere] Cleanse

Priest:

#showtooltip
/cast [target=Biosphere] Flash Heal

Alt-4 : Shield and hot druid button
Priest:

#showtooltip
/castsequence [target=Biosphere] reset=15 Power Word: Shield, Renew,
/castsequence [target=Biosphere] reset=15 ,,Renew

Heal and shield buttons continue through 7 (where 7 targets the priest).
Shield & hot cast sequence for some reason is shared between all the different target ones though, so if I hit Alt-3 to shield the tank and then hit Alt-4 to shield the druid, it'll cast the hot instead, since it continues the old sequence for some reason. So to shield the whole team atm I have to hit the button twice for each person, which works well enough for now, though I'd like to get it fixed eventually.

8 : CC button (never really use this, but I have it just in case, in which case I would pre target each CC on each character before combat, so hitting it would CC each of their targets, since all other targeting is done through focus)
Paladin: Turn Evil (dragged from spellbook)

Druid:

#show
/cast [target=target,harm][target=focustarget,harm][] Hibernate

Shaman: Hex (dragged from spellbook)

Mage:

#show
/cast [target=target,harm][target=focustarget,harm][] Polymorph

Priest:

#show
/cast [target=target,harm][target=focustarget,harm][] Shackle Undead

Alt-8 : Oh shit button
Paladin: Divine Sacrifice (dragged from spellbook, and since I don't use this button a lot, I sometimes click this button manually on the paladin)
Druid: Barkskin (dragged from spellbook)
Shaman: Earthbind Totem (dragged from spellbook)
Mage: Frost Nova (dragged from spellbook)
Priest: Fade (dragged from spellbook)

9 : Prepare for battle button (spam a bit before pulling)
Paladin: Blank (allows for clicking the button behind it, as mentioned below)

Druid:

#show Moonkin Form
/cast [noform] Moonkin Form

Shaman:

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=30 Call of the Elements, null

Mage: Blank

Priest:

#showtooltip
/castsequence [target=Geosphere] reset=5 Prayer of Mending, Power Word: Shield, , Renew, Fear Ward

Alt-9 : Force redrop of totems (for quicker movement between fights, or movement during fights, etc)
Paladin: Sacred Shield (dragged from spellbook, clickable since the paladin has no button in the normal 9 slot which would be on top of alt-9)
Shaman: Call of the Elements (dragged from spellbook, the only totem set i use, which when needed i edit on the fly in the totemtimers interface)

0: Buff button as mentioned in the common buttons above

- : Pop Cooldowns button (click for aoe interrupt on pally, and called in the dps macro on the dpsers through /click MacaroonButton 12)
Paladin: Arcane Torrent (dragged from spellbook)

Druid: (the /target line gets the extra / at the start removed when using the alternate dps macro)

#show 13
/click MacaroonButton10
//target [target=focustarget,harm]
/use [combat] 13
/use [combat] 14

Shaman:

#show Elemental Mastery
/use [combat] 13
/use [combat] 14
/cast [combat] Elemental Mastery
/cast [combat] Blood Fury

Mage:

#show
/use [combat] 13
/use [combat] 14
/cast [combat] Presence of Mind
/cast [combat] Icy Veins

Priest: Berserking (dragged from spellbook)

Alt-- (Alt dash): Rez button
Paladin: Redemption (dragged from spellbook)

Druid:

#showtooltip
/cast [target=focustarget,dead,help][target=target,dead,help][] Revive

Shaman:

#showtooltip
/cast [target=focustarget,dead,help][target=target,dead,help][] Ancestral Spirit

Mage: Blank (duh)

Priest:

#show Resurrection
/cast [target=focustarget,dead,help][target=target,dead,help][] Resurrection

= : Volashj button (currently)
Dpsers: (with their respective spammable highest dps spell)

#show Lightning Bolt
/cast [harm] Lightning Bolt
/stopmacro [harm]
/targetenemy

Alt-= : Skinning and mote extractor (only for those that have it, with extractor just dragged into bar)

#showtooltip Skinning
/cast [target=focustarget,dead][dead] Skinning

The hidden Pain Suppression bar of the priest:
Shift-3 through 7: (name changed for each respective button, to correspond with healing target of the normal 3 through 7 buttons)

#show
/cast [target=Geosphere] Pain Suppression

And a couple buttons that are only on the main:

Z : Profession tracking button (only on main, where I have mining and herbalism for both my main teams)
Paladin:

#showtooltip
/castsequence Find Minerals, Find Herbs

Invite button: (only on main, clicked, since i'm still using jamba 0.4)

/invite Biosphere
/in 1 /invite Atmosphere
/in 2 /invite Hydrosphere
/in 3 /invite Erosphere

Anything else, I just have laid out in the bars on the various characters and click them manually, to reduce the amount of keybindings to remember/misshit.

Most used spells that I click in this way:
Divine Plea, Avenging Wrath, and pretty much all other paladin cooldowns
Bloodlust, elemental totems if i ever use them, water walking
Shadowfiend, mass dispel (needs to be click targeted anyway), priest dps spells, hymns (never used those yet)
Innervate, Battle Rez
Druid and shaman healing spells (when they are specced caster dps)
mage portals, evocate, blink (for when moving the mage by itself, sometimes), food, table, invis, mana gem (never used that yet)
etc.

And as mentioned above, I often move my mouse over to the priests window to spam holy nova (sometimes even use prayer of healing, though rarely), while using the keybindings to continue takning and single target dps.
At this moment I do not have a good key I could assign to just holy nova to spam while I spam 1 and 2, but clicking works fine.

Note that until the forum reloads this pic from photobucket, the priests hidden bar incorrectly says power infusion instead of pain suppression.

For another boxer looking at your description...

The most useful would probably be, an overview post which shows all of your keybinds and what they do on each toon.

Something like:

Shift A
- Paladin: Consecrate
- Priest: Holy Nova
- Mages: Broadcasts the mouse click for Blizzard.

Alright, i'll make them sorted by button then :)

Note on the healing castsequences: I have a similar problem, I have 5 different macros for healing my 5 different team members but triggering one of these macros seems to advance all of them along the castsequence. I don't know if there is some kind of optimization on Blizzard's end which results in this behaviour.

So you push 1 and 2 continuously during boss fights for tanking and DPSing? And then micro manage healing, dispelling, etc?

Bettysue
12-06-2009, 11:21 PM
That's pretty interesting to see...

I know it doesn't matter because you are using macaroon, but you can remove the target=target section in your macros, this simply isn't needed as a spell will always try to fire on your hard target first unless told otherwise.

for example:
/cast [target=focustarget,dead,help][target=target,dead,help][] Revive
is the same as
/cast [target=focustarget,dead,help][dead,help][] Revive
because you have to have a target to check if it's dead or helpful.

Anyway good info thanks for taking the time to post it.

Yeah, I spam 1 and 2 for tanking and dpsing, while micromanaging heals and dispels etc :)
Figured I'd be more effective this way making it as simple as possible, and it worked out nicely.

My targeting in the macros is so that all the characters can act as main through the use of my simple focus macros to change main. I like to be specific on the targeting so that I can change it if needed, and so it always works the way I want.

Ualaa
12-07-2009, 03:04 AM
If two castsequences do the same thing, they both advance.

I like that, because you can have a IS/MF/Wrath sequence, and an IS/MF/Starfire sequence, switch between them as your Eclipse procs dictate, and have the IS and MF components always in sync.

Simple as possible? I have my healing in the dps rotation and I just have 1 button for tanking, dps and healing. Too much to think about lol, positioning, watch for boss specials, watch tank health, watch group health. I am not at heroics yet though :)

Maxion
12-07-2009, 09:32 AM
Well normally only the tank is tanking damage, so I'll be spamming 1 2 and 3, but since most fights I don't take as much damage as i did on Patchwerk, I rather conserve my priests mana by not overhealing too much. Especially by hitting 9 a few times in the middle of a fight to reapply prayer of mending, powerword shield and renew, or if I just want a quick bubble on the tank I'll hit Alt-3 :)

nice - thx Maxion ... just got my druid to 80 yesterday. Finally have my pally, priest, shaman, mage, druid mixed class rdy to start. I jumped straight into reg ToC and had eadric down before I realized that my druid wasn't doing any dps ... turns out he was still speccd feral, so none of the macros were working and he was just standing there the whole time >.< ... will spend some time configuring my macros properly - this is a good guide - thx.

Wondering why you went with a hybrid frost spec on your mage tho ... is it only for the replenishment? and why PoM?

wouldn't mind getting a better quality video of your HToC encounter (http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRealMaxion#p/u/8/i8dMpyztAdQ) ... i can give you an ftp if u want (PM me). Would like to study it in a bit more detail (can't really see what's goin on) =)

Maxion

I'll repost my non HD videos as HD, was only waiting for someone to request it ;)

My mage's spec was based on getting as high dps as I could with as simple rotation as possible, thus, pure frostbolt spam, plus the group utility of the replenishment and focus magic.

I'll repost my non HD videos as HD, was only waiting for someone to request it http://www.dual-boxing.com/images/smilies/wink.gifyeah - thx - that will help ...

when you were first starting out in ToC, did you AOE the adds in phase 2? I noticed your DPS target was the BK ... did starfall alone take the adds out? how did you avoid the explosions?

Maxion you have some awesome macros in here man! Thanks!

I'm still a macro nublet so I hope you don't mind my stupid questions. Can you explain why on this pally macro it says "reset=1" but on the other cleansing macros it says "reset=5"

#show Cleanse
/castsequence [target=party3] reset=1 ,,,,Cleanse
/castsequence [target=party1] reset=1 ,,,Cleanse
/castsequence [target=party2] reset=1 ,,Cleanse
/castsequence [target=player] reset=1 ,Cleanse
/castsequence [target=party4] Cleanse

/castsequence [target=player]reset=5 ,,,,Remove Curse
/castsequence [target=party1]reset=5 ,,,Remove Curse
/castsequence [target=party2]reset=5 ,,Remove Curse
/castsequence [target=party3]reset=5 ,Remove Curse
/castsequence [target=party4] Remove Curse

Do you mind walking me through what each of these macro sequences does? Really sorry to ask you this.

And another question is, why did you start with the bottom most sequence with no commas, but the first one has the most commas? Does the macro go out of wack if you go:
/castsequence [target=party4] Remove Curse
/castsequence [target=party3]reset=5 ,Remove Curse
/castsequence [target=party2]reset=5 ,,Remove Curse
/castsequence [target=party1]reset=5 ,,,Remove Curse
/castsequence [target=player]reset=5 ,,,,Remove Curse

You know after typing all this, I think I understand why you did the comma thing first, but I still don't understand the reset=5 or the reset=1. Please explain this in detail if you don't mind. Thank you in advance for anyone that can help. (^_^)

Ualaa
12-08-2009, 03:30 AM
The reset=X is a command, where after that many seconds have passed without the macro being pushed, it will automatically reset to the starting point.

So reset=1, is a macro which you want to reset as soon as you stop spamming it.

And reset=5, is a macro which you want to reset fairly quickly, but which you won't be spamming nearly as fast.

A castsequence is one spell after the other.
But if there is a comma on a step, then nothing happens when you push that time.

Since only one thing (that causes a GCD in game) can fire off at once.
The first ability which uses a GCD will fire off first.
And the other abilities cannot execute on that keypress.

In the first two examples, a Remove Curse or Cleanse fires off (last line) at party 4, on the first press.
Because of the commas, nothing else happens here.
On the second press, the line above it fires off, because both it and the last line attempt to execute here, but the earlier line (listed on an earlier line) has precedent.
Because of the four commas, the first line will not fire off, until the fifth press.

In the last example, the Remove Curse will target player 4 every cast, which will not allow the Party 3, 2, 1, and player options to ever fire off.

Maxion

Maxion

Multiple commas in castsequences do not work anymore, so i'll be changing to having a button for cleansing each character specifically.

I'll probably update the first post in this thread after I get that team to 85. :)

ClickBars for cleansing or Repeater Region + Vuhdo IMO.

I have my healer setup with Cleanse spirit and use repeater regions to cleanse/heal.

I play from the tank most the time and he just has a basic mouseover cleanse macro for cleansing the shamans.

/stopcasting
/cast[@mouseover] cleanse

If I actually used mouse broadcasting I would of course do that, thing is that I don't.
I'm only using Keyclone.

Thank you, I know it is possible, but I'm going to continue using only Keyclone for now.
