They will only be linked together if it automatically launches when the first one launches.
To see what the problem is with connecting when it's launching, right click the IS icon in the system tray and select Console. This will cause the Uplink window (the window for the main IS program) to open, and inside of it is a window called Console. Bring that one to the front in the Uplink window so you can see it. If there's a problem with the connecting part, the Uplink Console (the Console window inside the Uplink window) on the main PC will say it has trouble connecting. Maybe it will even tell you why.
There's a few common reasons why it would fail to connect:
1. Incoming connections are disabled on the second PC
2. Windows Firewall (or another firewall) is blocking InnerSpace.exe and/or incoming TCP port 10101
3. The hostname of the second PC can't be resolved (entering its IP address in ISBoxer would fix that)
4. The Inner Space folder on the second PC was copied from the main PC instead of using the installer, and the Uplink Name configured in the IS configuration window is the same as the other PC (if this is it, fix the problem in ISBoxer after fixing the problem in IS)
Make sure to close and restart IS if making any changes to the Uplink networking settings. They will not take effect until IS restarts.
If it is successfully connecting, but the second PC is not launching the Character Set, then the Uplink Console on the second PC will have more information. Here's some common reasons:
1. The Game and/or Game Profile selected in ISBoxer does not exist or point to a valid WoW folder on the second PC
2. Yeah... that was about it, see #1
