Ok, so I just realized that you need 22,500 gold for epic flying x5.
How in the world is it possible to get that much gold? Anyone have any tricks, they can share? I bet even with tradeskills it would take a couple of months of chain AHing.

Multiboxing friendly dailies in Icecrown, approximately 1300g in one hour, less than 20 days if you only do the dailies to make money. Add in tradeskills, transmutes, etc, you can have your fliers in no time.

Add in completing quests post 80. I can't remember last time money was a problem for me. Between my husband and I we have like 20+ toons with epic flying and still more money than I know what to do with. Money turns out to be easier to come by than you expect once you hit 80.

I dinged 80 in Zul'Drak, did entire Storm Peaks and half of Icecrown and then just bought the mounts. Went incredibly fast, I was surprised really. Thought it would be a long grind of dailies.

it's a myth that boxers make more gold than soloers, because boxers have 5x (or whatever number you box) the expenses.

Likely they save a lot more money, I cannot see anything in the AH that I would buy for a new character. Where the majority of solo players buy an upgrade just for a few levels.
Once you can machine heroics, or even normals its pretty much over for the AH on the gear side of things. Materials, motorcycles, orbs, well those are a different story I guess on personal preference / play style.

Boxers have more purchasing power, for individual expenses.
If we have a 5x Shaman team, and decide to add a tank to our mix.
Versus a one-box player, who has never had a tank and now wants one.
We can buy epic flying, from dailies in no time.
We can also buy Naxx25, Ulduar10, Ulduar25, ToC10 and ToC25 auction house epics much faster.
But comparing my new team of 5.
To a single boxers new single toon.
I have roughly 5x the income, and roughly 5x the expenses.
Quite a few collection quests make my leveling much slower.
But several dailies are group credit down the road as well.

I could always offer some suggestions on what to do with the gold. **cough cough** I know a friendly new multi-boxer that could use some. LOL j/k
I need to focus more on making gold (even as a single boxer, I still single box my Priest). I have a lot of reading to do here.

Spend a lil time in the AH game, doing that and daily and you will soon have more money than you need. I'm up to almost 150k now. These forums were most helpful: http://20kleveling.com/JMTCforum/index.php

I know the feeling! and it is all true, I settled down on my main and raised 6k in a week or so (solo)

For 5x I really only find this true while leveling. Once you get a couple of dungeons on your farm list, I make far more than I can possibly spend. As a solo player, I would have to play the luck game on drops, as a team of my own, every green/blue/purple, every lockbox, all the cloth, all the garbage, all the ore/herb nodes, all the leather is 100% mine to do with as I see fit.
Sure, it hurts for a bit seeing repairs running me a couple hundred gold {all plate and chain, ow} but I'm still throwing a couple thousand gold per toon in the bank every few days, so it doesn't hurt that much.

This is just flat out wrong. Think about it.
To say that boxers don't make more is to say that each individual toon pays out as much in expenses as they make.
Does a solo player make money while doing quests/dailies? Obviously yes. If one toon makes (X) amount of gold, then 5 toons (or however many) make 5*(X) gold.

Multiple characters = more money... period.
There are ways to make over 10k a week just for having your characters sitting around @ about 70-75 depending on your revenue you are willing to put into it. But for the most part a SINGLE team of boxing characters will make more from dailys, dungeons, etc than other single players. To be fair they kill 5x faster so even farming they will be able to get 5x the loot.
In BC i owned the market for cobra scales and always boxed up in nagrand. I killed so fast i had to wait for respawns... so things like that can pretty much screw up your farming speed, but for the most part if they are areas that have pretty decent respawn timers, or your epic flyers allow you to go elsewhere quickly to farm while they re-spawn you can make great money. Not to the extent of cobra scales... seeing as on my server they were 50g each and i could get between 20 and 30 an hour... it was some hefty change.

Yes, but your gold per head is the same. Sure you can make gold on 5 characters and spend it all on 1 character if your only purpose multi-boxing is to help out your (solo) main.
What Khatovar said about everything that drops in the instance being yours is probably a more relevant statement. Anything that involves grouping is an advantage for multi-boxers, instances, group quests, etc. No need to wait to form a group or get people to the instance or replace people. Get in, get out. Everywhere else your gold / head earned is probably similar to a solo.

I just don't believe this per head thing, I know solo people that make nice gold without a doubt, but on average I would have to say that most single box people have horrid time saving money and they earn gold in dailies and that's about it. They also miss out on a lot of loot comparitively. These are people that need to buy gold because they couldn't afford cold weather flying or a raid slot.
There has to be something in machining instances, looting caster cloth on your shaman without a qq'fest, not running an instance and getting nothing but some quail and cloth, having purchasing power to buy mats when you need it, etc.
i just leveled a team, when they hit 58 some of them had just silly gear on cloak for dead mines quest and what not. I just went into hellfire and grinded quests and did the instances. Did I loot upgrades, likely I dunno. Most of the time I just click sellfish and move on. What drops is what drops, the time spent being able to loot elites is just more. The solo player just isn't doing that. Sure they can knock out gathering quests and get raid slots.

nothing like not having to type /roll on anything.
Efficiency is a money maker not only do I not have to type /roll but I also rarely have to type LFG.

Getting t9 will take 4 days of heroics if your group can clear them all.

In the long term, if you one-box a heroic, you should receive 20% of the loot.
Sure you can be lucky or unlucky on any given roll.
As a boxer, we get 100% of the loot.
If you were to evenly distribute it, that would be 20% per toon.
An epic flyer costs 5000g (plus the mount) for one toon.
If one toon is gathering 5k, it takes so long.
If five toons are each gathering 5k, it will take just as long for a lot of content.
For example, the instance option will be the same, if you go with a group that has no ups there.
For example, with your guild on farming runs.
PuGs will rarely have no one getting an up from ToC normal, but boxing you can be sure everything will DE.
So with Pugs, a boxer has a gold advantage over a solo player.
Dailies earn gold for boxers faster then for solo players.
If you keep the gold earnt on each individual toon, they should have the same gold as one-boxing the dailies.
But boxers will kill things a lot faster.
And there are routes which are boxing friendly, so all mobs drop the item or its a kill quest.
In these cases, boxing is a slight advantage.
Also, dailies are boring; if you can only bring yourself to do them 2 days a week, the boxer gets 2.5k while the solo player gets 20% of that.
A boxer definitely has the option to save up on 5x toons, for 1 toon to purchase with.
For example, gearing your tank toon on the team, is the fastest way to be able to do heroics successfully.
A 1x boxer will gear the tank much more slowly, and be unable to do heroics for say 15 days of farming.
The 5x boxer will gear their tank in 3 days of farming.
And even though the other 4 toons are not geared, having the tank geared will allow all 5 to run heroics on day 4.
Farming is the one aspect which might favor the 1x boxer.
This is because of the limited number of resources.
If you can clear 75% of an area in the time it takes before respawns (I was doing this for Primal Fire in BC at Skald), you have 3/4's the resources on one toon per hour.
With five toons, you have 100% of the resources per hour, but each toon is only making 20% of that.
So, gearing all the toons off of farming revenue, is slower boxing then not.
But if you're farming purely for gold, it is still more total gold in the same time, just not as good an option for saving for something like Epic Flyers.

This doesn't take into account things like if all characters are miners(titansteel) jewelcrafters (gems daily, + extra daily quest) or tailors (5 cooldowns per 2 weeks per type of cloth)
If say... all your toons have their secondary profession as tailoring. This means every 2 weeks you are able to make...assuming 5 boxing.
25x shadow cloth
25x mooncloth
25x spellweave 2x one of them
This means for two weeks you make a profit of... 100 x the price of cloth, most servers is approximately 80 gold per. That's an extra 8,000 gold per week for basically nothing as the materials would take you about 2 hours to get.
If you did this combined with mining (yes i know its a pain in the ass to level) you would get
100x cloth (approximately 80 gold per)
70x titansteel (last time i was on these were 80 gold per as well)
so for two weeks worth of time without really farming all that much for materials. you cold effectively earn 13600 gold per 2 weeks. Not including dailies... Which would be an extra 1000 per day..considering dailies take ~ 1.5 hours to complete. You're looking at a total of about 27600 gold every 2 weeks, with no other income other than these two professions and dailies.
If you say had 3 teams worth of characters that had those professions and the dailies were done every day (yes, i know we're getting into no life now... but this would be purely for gold)
that would be 82800.
So that means that in 1.5 months you reach gold cap. This isn't including many many things that could also bring in money.
So for you to make 82800 gold from farming TOC and DEing all the crystals while not killing the market... would take approximately 83 hours... or 3.4 days played time.
Technically JC could make much more money on a day to day basis than mining because...
The bag may contain epic gems + dragon's eyes.
You are normally gauranteed about 75-100 gold as is from the satchel. Plus each character gets an extra 11 gold every day for that daily. So... This turns out to add an extra 50 gold per day, over 14 days is another 700 gold.
So you make 375-500 + 50g per day or so. So that equals out to approximately 487 gold per day from that profession. Opposed to 400. So nearly 100 extra gold. Is it worth it? Doubtful... but if you say get 5 epic gems + 3 dragons eyes on your toons some days... that can bring in some significant extra money where the price for titansteel is always pretty much stagnant. But theres no telling what kind of cooldowns there will be in CATA. this is just talking about the next year.
Alchemy as transmutation master combined with JC could actually be very good as well to make money but also costly to level to the point where you can make the gems... but would it be worth it? That is 1 ruby per day... so that is about 750g per day
So if you were to abuse these professions for approximately 8 months you could easily break 3/4 of a million gold. If you invested much of the money into the AH and cornered market you could turn that 3/4 a million into 2 million easily.
