View Full Version : [ISBoxer] Toggling Keymaps

I hope this hasn't been covered elsewhere. I did some digging and didn't see anything, but I'm still finding my way around the site.
In any case.
I'm using ISBoxer on EQ2. Currently when I switch windows I have a mapped key that goes off on all screens that fires a follow macro so that everyone follows whichever toon us currently selected.
I've decided that I'd like to set up individual Keymap groups for each character (some will overlap, others will be unique depending on who I'm looking at).
Setting up 6 keymap groups and adding the various mappings is no problem.
What I need to figure out is, how do I make so that when I switch screens it turns off all the keymappings for the other characters, turns on the one for the character I've switched to, and, if possible, still fires off the follow commands I've come to rely on (if I have to remember to hit an extra key every time I screen toggle I'm going to be leaving toons all over the place).
Can anyone point me in the right direction or let me know if I'm going about this the wrong way?

We have the option of: when I switch toons, run this keymap.
That doesn't necessarily have to be the follow keymap.
I would probably leave the follow keymap as it is, since its one of the three FTL keymaps which the system runs on.
So instead of calling the follow keymap, have it call a keymap of your choosing.
The easiest way to do this would be a unique keymap per toon.
The keymap will be one step, but will have multiple actions.
One of the actions will be to run an existing keymap - the follow which you want to retain.
In addition, it will run some Keymap Action >> New Mapped Key State Action.
It will enable the keymaps you desire for the current toon/window.
And it will disable the keymaps you desire for "Group: Others in <Set Name>.
Pretty sure this will do what you're asking.
Not sure of a keymap syntax which will enable keymaps for the hot toon.
But if there is a command for that, then a single keymap will work, instead of one per toon.

Thanks. I will experiment with this tonight. It seems like I should create 7 groups instead of 6. One for each character's unique mappings, and one that has universal mappings used by all (like the follow commands... Should save some duplication).
My concern with doing multiple actions in a step is that the documentation explains that they all go off at one time. So if I had a follow command that was reliant on a certain group being toggled on or off I wasn't sure if the switch would happen before the.....
Good gods, this stuff is more complicated to talk about than it is to set up (and it's fairly complicated to set up).
In any case, thanks. I think you've got me on a track to make this work now.

I would list the toggle keymap actions first and the follow second.
That will probably work.
If you had to put follow on the second step, you could mash the key.
But in that case, it might be worthwhile to not have auto follow on a switch.
Which then lets you control the teams positioning, and switch to any toon at any point, without having follow to interrupt your formation.
You'll still be able to single press to enable follow.
Or strobe follow, should there be an option for that in EQ.
