View Full Version : Answers to stupid questions
Does anyone have good answers to the stupid questions we get? I'm playing three locks, and the ones I tend to get the most are
What are you going to do with the other two?
Why three locks/Why three of the same/Why three of the same spec?
What's the point?
Are you going to sell the accounts?
I think the one that bothers me the most is the What's the point or Why three locks questions. I generally just respond with an "It's fun. That's the whole point of playing any game." and try to explain briefly why three of the same are infinitely easier to work than three different classes. But they don't really seem to get it, so I just have to stop responding to them.
For legitimate questions, I have a macro set up telling them to check out the beginners guide on the forums at www.dual-boxing.com. Or if I have the time I talk to them a little myself, but they tend to want to ask about all the intricacies involved in multiboxing when they see me in a BG.

"If one Warlock is overpowered, what would three accomplish? How about five? Imagine 5x Corruption and CoA on you."
That's the answer I'd give.

If someone queries me, and the conversation lasts last than ~5 minutes (friendly conversation that is), I do not offer up dual-boxing.com.
Why 4 shammies answer: OMGWTFBBQ Horde
How answer: Wireless Keyboard x4 (not entirely true since I use a multiplexer now, but its how I started. and I still use broadcasted wireless mice)
"no life at all" answer: Seems a bit hypocritical coming form another MMO player.
And if they really insist on flaming me: Please apologize for your comments or you will be reported (x4) for verbal harrassment.
hehe Ive done the "stop bothering me or you will be reportedx5 for harassment" once or twice. Its strange, I swear im the only person on KT doing this because I have not heard or seen anyone else but lots of people know what Im doing. Here is a rough breakdown of the people I encounter
30% think it is kickass or awsome and want to go 5v5 against me when Im taht lvl lol
50% just usually say 'wtf' or 'lol' and move on
15% are curious about what im doing, why, how and if its fun etc.
5% are jealous hateful bastards who are mostly just QQing or trying to flame. about half of those I actually reportx1 because they deserve it for being a complete tool and breaking the rules (ie calling me things like a "faggot ass bitch" etc rather than the typical 'u hav no life lol')
my generic responses to most questions are
Why: because its a lot of fun and I can
Cost: not all that much I spend more on my gf or a bar each week than on wow in a month
How: keyboard multiplexor and a ton of macros.
only two people so far have continued to talk past those responses, ive got a very small fanclub of a few people who send me tells now and then asking things like what instances have I done so far and how the lvling is coming etc and telling me what im doing is awsome lol. One guy even said something lik "OMG you are my hero, not only are you a shaman but you have a freaking train of LEETNESS behind you too" which cracked me up

My latest reply to the "why 4 shamans?" comment has been:
"I really, really liked that William Shatner commercial!!"
I also like telling people, "I don't know who these other shamans are, but they keep autofollowing me and trying to steal my kills. I would really appreciate it if you would report them."
Generally speaking, though, I find that a little formation fun, dancing, and simultaneous lightning shielding is enough for most folks to chuckle and move on.

To those who threaten to report me or claim to have reported me, I usually respond with "Make sure you spell my name correctly" or "I hope you spelled my name right" or something along those lines. The times I've done it have resulted in either silence or more flame.

A couple of times when people have threatened to report me, I make a note of thier name (friend list, paper, whatever), and a few days later I send them a messange and ask how that reporting went. :)
"Was it good for you? It was GREAT for me!"
I had one when i first started playing and the GM actually appeared "guess to watch me play or w/e" and after we chatted for a moment I /waved to the GM then /point /laugh at the person who said they reported me...they logged out after much laughter from the. wish I had takena screenshot of it., Ive recently started collecting screenshots of funny comments/reactions lol.
Another common response I use is "fine by me, been a few days since Ive talked to a GM" and the result is they dont ever report me.

Hahaha, that's a great response. :)
I also use the "I have no clue who these people are. They keep following me around since level 1. Jerks.".
