I'm going to start working on an MM Hunter click macro. If someone here has one that is working for you, please post it. Ill post what i come up with if i get it working good.

Khatovar had one in the Fursphere's click castsequence thread.
It had the cast random at the end, which broke a while ago.
I adapted my hunter sequence from it, but cannot seem to find the original.

It was something like this:

Hunter's Mark, Null (reset=target)
Serpent Sting, Null (reset=target)
Arcane Shot (Comma's for 6 seconds, reset=combat)
Multi-Shot (Comma's for 10 seconds, reset=combat)
Chimera Shot (Comma's for 10 seconds, reset=combat)
Steady Shot as the Fall through

you want to re apply serpent sting right? so why the null?

This was the original, but as Ualaa said, it is very dated, with no Null use and castrandom as a catch-all. I haven't played Marks in ages.

I have a BM macro that would probably be better to try and adapt in the new macro thread/wiki (http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Macro:Using_Click). If nothing else, grab the 1-button tracking macro out of there assuming you have points in Improved Tracking.

You know its interesting that multi-shot is always left out of DPS rotations on various sites.

Sure, its a great ability on trash, but is it worth it on bosses?

Arcane Shot deals (RAP x 0.15 + 492) and costs 5% of base mana.
Steady Shot deals (RAP x 0.10 + 252) and costs 5% of base mana (+175 Dmg to snared targets).
Chimera shot deals (125% weapon damage) and costs 12% of base mana.

Multi-Shot is listed as (an additional 408 damage), and costs 9% of base mana.

9% makes it almost twice as expensive as Arcane/Steady shot, but not sure how damaging against a single target. According to the hunter ability page on wowwiki, it is the 2nd hardest shot behind Aimed Shot (and discounting Kill Shot). So basically twice the mana cost, but hits a single target harder then the others.

The rotation, once you have minimum level of ArP( 350ish), is Apply sting(once), chim, aimed, steady..rince repeat. NO arcane once you have enough ArP to drop it.

I was able to do 5-6k with surv when i SOLOED with him and with a macro was doing 3-4k with surv. With MM I'm now doing 5-6k boxing and solo.. the click macro is reliable. i need to fine tune my commas on some lines.. but It seems to be firing everything right when it needs to as far as I can see. I'm happy with it.. way easier to keep up DPS while boxing my hunter.

I waited to get an item level 226 ranged weapon before I switched, then I got http://db.mmo-champion.com/i/49493/rifled-blastershot-launcher/ 8) So now Im MM 8) ( you should wait to have 4kRAP, unbuffed, 30%ish crit and an item 226 weapon or better before MM out DPSs surv )

do you have more than 1 hunter you box with?

I only have one 80 hunter atm, I have 3 more at 75. I mostly play him solo, in pug raids. So i have not tested multi hunters yet. I have tested boxing my hunter with my main team, and his dps is the same as when I solo him. He used to be my main. I led a 40 man raiding guild when he was my main back in the day. I miss playing him. I stopped when i started 5 boxing.

I would imagine, a click macro would run on several as easily as on one.
The trick is coming up with a macro that is as optimal as possible.

I like hunters, in that they have strong single and aoe dps.
But dislike how they auto switch to melee attacks which breaks follow.
IWT is less useful for ranged groups, as I prefer them to stay ranged.

I found the same problem with a hunter, but follow strobe fixed most of it. Now if he would stop needing on BOP Plate gear, dam huntard

Thats why I switched to MM as soon as I had the starts to do it. MM has no procs to worry about. Just cooldowns for rapid fire.. rediness..ect. The rotation is pretty reliable. Surv you HAVE to watch for lock and load procs, which makes boxing as surv inefficient.

BW is easy to macro but does poor DPS still compared to MM or surv.

edit note: btw, in 5 mans I find BW does around the same dps as MM. MM kicks its ass in raids though. In fact I was doing about 2-3k average in 5 mans with all 3 builds. If your ONLY doing 5 mans.. take your pick.

Just wanted to point out that this is a terrible idea. If the "random" picks something that is on cooldown or no available yet (like kill shot) it will not move to another ability until the ability it picks is successfully cast.

This is functionality that was implemented in patch 3.2

Castrandom is bad. Don't use it unless you fully understand how it works post 3.2

Agreed.

The castrandom, was the original macro from prior to the castrandom nerf. It includes no "Null" castsequences etc. But was posted as a basis to build a "modern" click from.

You should try the option that lets you turn off the auto switching to melee.

So to verify something on this thread, on the click macro, throw out the castrandom and put in steady shot or even multishot as the fallthrough?
My hunter is still sucking on dps (only hitting 1k at best) and so i need to fix his macro's. I also need to build on his hit but so far the gear I have is not really allowing to add more hit :(

I would go Steady Shot as the fall through.
Multi-Shot has a six second cooldown, so it won't be available for back to back fall through.
