View Full Version : Anyone has tried adding a *foot* control?

Was thinking about this while I saw my nephew playing a race game: he has a wheel/pedals to control the car. Not that I plan to play WoW with a steering wheel, but I can think of situations where a pedal could add functionality. For example: I use mainly my numpad to spam my macros and my left hand to control my chars. I've made 10 extra ctrl+numpad and 10 alt+numpad keybinds. But I never use those cause I move my toons around with my left hand, so no time to hold ctrl/alt. With a left pedal bound to ctrl and a right to alt, it could be easier without losing control. Another situation could be that the pedal only heals. Activating a heal with my foot wouldn't distract me from tanking/dps.
I don't own such a device, but was just curious if anyone has tried this; and if so, if it really works.

I own 2x Xkeys PS/2 foot pedals.
Its a good idea and it works great - when I remeber to use them.

I use a carpentry hacked pedal from a usb numpad keyboard similar to the foot pedal mod that was posted from Germany not that long ago. It does slave movement and two other spells.

So I lend my nephews pedals and it works great. Only using 1 for now: right is bound to my healer. Have to return them in an hour, but 100% sure I'm gonna order 1. Even thinking what 2 sets of pedals could do ...

I just found this (http://gamingmouse.com/weapon.php?pid=30) site. This sounds even better than racing pedals. Anyone knows this product?

Haven't used it, but they do look cool. Wonder if I could mount one for a head banging position? :)

As a non native english speaker and with a vivid fantasy, your quote is confusing me.

He wants to mount one of the foot switches in a postion that could be pressed by his head. :)
"head banging" is a "heavy metal" music thing...

Apologies, I forget how global WoW and multi-boxing are.
Fur, the other and probably older use of the term is hitting your head on something out of frustration. Which was where I was going. "Aggghhh wiped again!" head hits the pedal something happens. :)

That Gamingmouse foot pedal and R2 mouse are pretty cool. I might order the foot pedals and try them out.

I was gonna reply that I'd be cool to try to make WoW work with a steering wheel, gearbox & pedals ... but google came up with this (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13594100704&sid=1). :o

What a great group we have here, we can laugh at each others "Lost in translations" :).
Steering wheel in WoW, I've got a mental picture of a 5 year old going "Weeee daddy, look at me gank the Mage!" and an adult going WTF happened? How did he get me so easily? LOL

Seems like it has some basic chording which is cool. I would love to have a 'stomp twice on right, when both are down, or what have you' alas your looking toward xkeys for such things.

I use a X-Key's foot pedal controller. It was spendy but totally worth it.
It has 3 pedals. Middle and largest one is where I bind all my main DPS macros to. I can just basically mash my foot constantly during any fight, instead of mashing my "1" key or whatever like a lot of people do. Frees up my hands.
The other two pedals I use as "alternate" dps pedals. One is always for AOE (triggers consecrate, arcane explosion, holy nova) and the other is a by-fight special button (i.e. in those fights where my healer might get iceblocked or something, switch my shaman to spamming chain heals on the group for a bit).
I'd be lost without the pedal.

On the XKeys being spendy...
yes, they are expensive new. Watch ebay and buy them for $15 - $20 instead (i've gotten two in this price range, and seen quite a few more)

I have those pedals, I wasn't really happy with how difficult it was to "feel" a button press. They are well made however.
