Greetings. New to multi-boxing. Less than a week with 2x and already scheming to get to 5x. I have the hardware to handle it, unfortunately my kitchen is stocked with hardware my wife uses to handle me! ;)

I'm not really interested in 4 or 5 casting teams. I really want to make a mixed team.

Something like (not in stone)::
Pally - Tank - Main/Leader
Rogue/Enhance Shammy
Boomkin/Mage
Mage/Hunter
Priest/Resto Shammy

My question is this, how do you control the DPS group (non-tank) melee? "Follow" doesn't really get him in close. Do you just use openers with tank to grab aggro, them manually move the melee into range? Etc.

I did try some forum seraching, and couldn't find a good post. Please feel free to point me to one if I missed it.
Thanks!

You want to search for "interact with target" and "click to move".

Short version:
If click to move is enabled in your WoW settings and you press the key bound to interact with target then your character will automatically run to the target and start attacking, open trade, open quest, open bank, etc depending on what you are interacting with.

This may not completely answer your question, but I made a similar post a little while back about my group http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=26295. I've used the method Khatovar describes with great success through the outland instances.

For most things, having the casters in the mix won't be a big deal. But any AoE boss fights you will need to use that mechanic to ensure your tank is taking the damage, you melee is hitting, & your casters are at range.

To get this to work specifically, I use 2 separate sets of interact with target & follow. Your tank & melee should use the same interact with target. Your other 3 chars should NOT bind this interact with target key. This keeps them parked. Your melee dps should also have a follow macro to run back to your healer. This is important for getting him out of heat.

My keys look something like this (yours can be whatever you like):
Tank & DPS interact with target - F key (primary) Numpad 7 (secondary)
Range DPS & Healer interact with target - Numpad 7
All chars target using the Numpad 9 key
All char follow tank - Numpad 0
Melee (possibly caster?) follow healer - Numpad 1

The great part about this is that it works well in facing situations as well. I park all chars except the tank at max range before a boss fight. Run in and interact with target. By the time the melee catches up I have the tank position the boss away from the party. When melee catches up they are attacking the bosses back & the healer (or casters) are at max range so they are safely out of harms way.

Thanks to both! You did completely answer my question. Obviously I need to play with it now and test it out.
Interact with target is a no-brainer, use that for questing now, but have never played with click to move.

This question might be pre-mature (I'll go play after I ask), so feel free to ignore it; but for us PvPers at heart (i.e. - mouse turners) I would think 'click to move' would be dangerous...at least for a while till I break myself of old habits :)

Just to be clear, on your main you still use the mouse to turn. You just need to turn on click to move on the clones which has the side-effect that the interact with target key makes them run over to the target they are interacting with. So your clones will assist the main and then you hit the interact key.

Due to having melee and ranged you won't be able to turn click to move on for all of them, you will probably need to leave it off on the ranged so you can use it in combat for melee. Its a shame really as click to move makes quest turn-ins and vendor interaction so much easier. You don't need to watch all sessions to make sure they got them or try to position the group so all of them is in range.

Since I switched to click to move and Jamba follow strobing my questing became so easymode that I wouldn't want to turn it off. Ever. I am about to start instancing on my mixed team (72 atm) so I will have to macro a strobe break when setting up for pulls.

My mixed team is all ranged except for the tank, pally, priest, warlock, mage and hunter so I use click to move on all of them and I don't use interact with target in combat.
