View Full Version : Is there life after 60?

So I'll have my accounts maxed with lvl 60 characters.
The catch?
They all have lvl 1 skills and lvl 1 gear (except a set of usable equip from strat)
Has anyone else started out this way with little gold? (I've got about ~3k)
How did you go about getting geared for outland?
My plan is to just pray for the best with the lack of equp and the OP quad damage (I'm a quad-boxer) to get the quests accomplished and get some gear. Obviously I'll do the gear quests or maybe even grab an 80 to get basic gear so I can get the groups running without help from outside the group.
Thanks for your advice-

I did trade skilz, sure you won't make any monies at the start but slow but sure it builds up. I make like 100G or more a day just selling bags but each server is different. But the extra time it takes you might just be better off staying in starter gear ....

Yeah my groups are about done, and once they are I'll be workin on the shammy group. I remember reading in an old thread that PVP isnt good for lvling anymore, anyone second this?
I cant wait to work on getting the shamans to 70 in BC.
Cant wait to actually play the game in general, all my freetime in the past couple months has been devoted to boosting the groups...

You have 5 chars, go rape some solo quest in outlands and get geared. Took me about 2 hours to go from literally no gear to full BC greens. While questing gear is totally irrelevent for a 5 boxer, you barely even get hit. Don't even waste time worrying about gear until 80 imo, its a nice side bonus to doing quest for exp but its almost entirely not needed until heroics.

If your toons are basically naked 60's, you should be able to do the starter quests in Hellfire.
And that will easily get you the gear to level to 70th.
The early 70th level quests, assume you have really crap gear and are one-boxing. So Borean Tundra/Howling Fjord are basically the same deal.
Quest a bit, you'll be ok with 4 toons.
The only thing I'd consider buying... slow flying mounts.
You won't need anything else to level.
Actually, you won't need to slow flyers even, but they speed up the process enormously.
Once you're in Outland gold isn't much of an issue.
You make it from quests faster then you need to spend it.
And Northrend follows this theme too.

I agree, do hellfire / shatt quests, then head back to do instance quests in plaguelands / lbrs / brd and clean those places casually if you know the quests well. If nothing more than the get your spider and worg pets.
if you have the brew fest teleporter (or know someone that can drop one for you, half the brd quest are a snap)
I got a Circle of Flame for my new little warlock cleaning those quests, quite happy I did.

Everyone's pretty much said it. Even with 4 naked toons you'll gear up pretty quickly....just don't go making insane pulls :)
The quest rewards and vend trash you pick up will help you with gold. You could also go and level the gathering skills. Skinning 1-300 only takes about 2 hours....mining around 4. Not sure about herbalism. You can either use the mats to level crafting skills....or just sell them for gold. There aren't many people farming old world mats so they usually sell pretty well.

Farming Thorium in Un'Goro is pretty good.

Get flying mounts! Get flying mounts! Get flying mounts! Get flying mounts! Get flying mounts! Get flying mounts!
They speed up your questing SO much!
I was thinking about doing quests, and why running with 5 toons isen't the same as when running with one toon (except you have to do some things x5). In teory it should be the same I guess?
You kill mobs 5x faster or more... but what I though about is travel time. It still takes the same amount of time to walk from one mob to the other (unless you AoE stuff.)...so when I do collection quests I have to "travel" 5x as long as a normal one player.... make sense?
When I do kill quest its going ridiculous fast. I mean its almost like hit and run :D It take me longer to read a given quest text than to kill the mobs necessary to complete the quest, almost anyway.
If possible avoid collection quests.

/agree
Not only is even the slow one faster than the epic land mount....it avoids so much hassle getting from A to B. This is extremely valuable if you're on a PvP server.

I am about to send a load of de'd mats to my bank toon to sell from my lvl 28 team.
When I get them to 30, I am just going to run a couple of old instances so that they can de and sell the greens and blues that drop.
Mind you, I dont really need the gold for them (I have lvl's 80,80,80,76,75,61,52,50 toons in front of them able to make a load of gold at the drop of a hat :))))), but it is nice to have for things like slow flying and a mount and fast flying and a mount later on :)

This is awesome guys thanks so much for the insight. I have 5 days off of work for Turkey day so I should be able to get my last two groups done before RAF is up (est dec 10th)
Thanks again, I'll keep you guys posted.
How much do slow flying mounts run these days? And I thought they are 60% land speed as well, or is it 100% land / 60% flying

It's just under 300g all in for training and mount. Training is something like 240(something) g and the mount is around 47g. I just did it last night on 3 characters and forgotten already! lol
As for speeds...in the air it's 150%...I believe it's 100% on land...but I may be wrong. Either way...worth every gold. I remember doing my epic land mount quest chain on my warlock and it costing me something like 800g all in! You'll make it back easily. Especially if you're using heirlooms on any of your toons.
I recently levelled a second warlock from 60-80 (he'd been boosted to 60 from RAF) and was kitted out in heirloom chest, shoulders and staff.....in those 20 levels he made something like 3000g.
Have fun :)

Slow flyers are 60% land 150% air
Ualaa

They "used to be" 60% ground and air.
And were changed to 150% air, not sure on the ground speed.
But you can fly 2 feet above the ground, if you want to stay low.
Epic flyers used to be an enormous and highly worthwhile upgrade.
But the cost has not changed (well faction discount now applies)...
But 150% for cheap vs 280% for a lot...

As i said, they are still 60% on the ground. So just fly low or whatever, as the others say.

i dont know what your group make up is but if you have a lock then go demonology and let the fel guard kill stuff for you until you get some gear, that's what i did and it didn't take very long to get some decent gear from quests
