Three Simple Steps To Peace and Bliss from the author of your choice

Visit your Ignore List by clicking this link: http://www.dual-boxing.com/profile.php?do=ignorelist
Look for "Add a Member to Your List..." In the box directly under that you are to type in a user name, if you are unsure of someone's exact user name DON'T WORRY! The field should auto complete and show you users names of people.
Once you have the name in the box, click on the "Okay" button

Congratulations! you've now ignored that user.

You will no longer see posts from that person, instead, you will see a place holder that simple says: "This message is hidden because UserYouSpecified is on your ignore list (http://www.dual-boxing.com/profile.php?do=ignorelist)."

Please post any questions about ignoring users in this thread!

Odd.... I've never seen a thread start with:

"This message is hidden because Svpernova09 is on your ignore list (http://www.dual-boxing.com/profile.php?do=ignorelist)."

I'd love to know what Zanthor said, but all I see is

"This message is hidden because Zanthor is on your ignore list (http://www.dual-boxing.com/profile.php?do=ignorelist)."

I know sometimes my posts don't have a lot of to add to a conversation, but... :(

How could you! :p

Can we ignore ourselves, so that when we post and read through threads, it's like some old-school RPG, where all the NPCs respond to you, but you never actually speak yourself? hehe

EDIT:

Apparently not. :(

We can't help you ignore yourself.

When I click "Reply to Thread," I get a blank box with the caption, "This input box is hidden because you are on VBulletin's ignore list (http://www.dual-boxing.com/profile.php?do=ignorelist)." Though apparently, I can click the "Post reply" button and then edit to get around the Watchful Eye.

I did this a few weeks back and pages upon pages of content disappeared. The person I ignored (not who you think) didn't start many, if any, of the thread that went kaboom. I un-ignored them and the page number went back up to like 37 or so.

pity there isn't option to ignore a poster but let the very rare helpful post through
or
have an option that removes all ego filled chest beating and noob calling and just leaves the facts
or
an option that holds a mirror up to certain posters so they can see how childish they are
or
an option that identifies bullies and kicks them in the butt as soon as they type 'learn2search' or 'learn2play'

thanks for the tip - I'll now be able to visit more often without having to deal with self important windbags :)

I almost feel bad for anyone who actually gets ignored, they turn into this. True story, saw it happen once to a guy....

I only ever ignored one person on this forum (it was prior to vbulletin).

I'd go to threads see that the person I ignored had posted (and it said it was hidden) and end up clicking on the link so I could see what was said this time. Just couldn't help myself.

Ended up unignoring that person.

Damn my curiosity.

I know what your getting at, but as a side note, there are 2 types of deletion in use here. Soft, and NukedFromOrbitGTFO. Soft delete is when you see a thread in the forums that shows it's been deleted, that is a recoverable thread. You can also see a reason WHY it was deleted if the mod put one. Most threads that actually have content are soft deleted in case (someone who can) someone wants to venture into the thread and clean it, otherwise, it pretty much rots if nothing of real value was there. NukeFromOrbitGTFO is stuff that is permanently deleted, and is unrecoverable because it's actually removed from the database. Normal circumstances the only thing that gets NukeFromOrbitGTFO is spam or OP requested (because something was screwed up, or didn't meant to post) post / thread deletion.

Now we need an "Ignore thread" feature so that useless threads don't show up in the "Today's Posts" results.

Would prefer the option to not even see the message that they have posted anything.
Also, does not block quoted stuff (can see why this would be harder).

But still good, ty, have been using it for last few weeks.

No, the data is already loaded and the functions that step through the data are already running, so the only thing that can be done is is the block you see.

For quoted data, yeah, I think it would just be too much overhead to re parse everything per page load for specific users.

Thanks, now we need a "remove mods" feature.

That kind of was my point with "show deleted" button (and I guess that and "unlock thread") but I won't beat a dead horse too much

Water under the bridge !
