I'm a filmmaker visiting LA Dec 17-Dec 22, 2009. I recently finished a film called Gamers on what it's like to play MMORPG games. Check it out at: www.gamersfilm.com (http://www.gamersfilm.com) Everything is professionally shot and edited.
I'm starting a new web series tentatively titled Extreme Gamer. The premise is 5 minute shows about interesting personalities in the gaming world. Not just MMO. I'll be the first to admit I know very little about dual-boxing but I find it fascinating!
I'm looking for a gamer that would be interested in participating. Explain what dual boxing is, how to get in it, the advantages. Obviously the more extreme systems the better. Shoot me an email at gamersfilm [at] gmail.com with a few lines about yourself.
Thanks. Ben.
p.s.- forward this to friends, I'm interested in any and all stories about and by Extreme Gamers.

Honestly, Everything there seemed to have a negative tone and I don't think that it represents me or many people i know.
Yes there are those who are addicted, but I play a good bit maintain a health marriage, a job, still within navy standards for fitness and excellent social skills. (Public speaking ect) Most people on these forums are here for efficiency and ease, I play multiple characters to save time and make things easier for my solo play.

Showing the typical gamer would be boring as hell.
Like you I do not fit that mold but it is entertaining to see the other side.

Well, thanks for sharing the link.
I don't think the video describes me either.
But with 11 million gamers, just for wow...
Even interviewing 100 players wouldn't get you that response either.
Got a laugh out of the comment that a raiding guild is akin to a street gang.

I think that most boxers at least from my impression are not your typical hard core serious raiders. We have little patients for PUG's and value our time. I am married with 3 kids and a job that keeps me on the road 75% of the month. When I am gaming I want to enter the instance when I am ready, step away when the wife and kids need my attention and give up without feeling bad.

Watched the 3 videos in part 1, amazing quality.
My only concern.....I spotted a few keyboard turners....

ur absolutely right, most of use dont like to wait around for stuff to happen, get on play the game like a game, log off, puggin 1 player ei for 5's is not anything, but doing heroics, or a whole 5's team (this takes forever for all 5 to log)

Really, it doesn't look like a film called Gamers, it looks like a film called Next on Oprah - WoWJunkies. Other games are barely mentioned and all the gamers you featured were flat out WoW Addicts.
As for Extreme Gamers...I'm a huge dork and I wouldn't watch it. Like "notable extreme gamers" need any more freaking exposure. I am not interested in feeding other people's God Complexes.
Fizzler's dead on. Normal gamers, even multiboxers are pretty damned boring. We all shower in plain old water, not the blood of our enemies.

I saw this and I lost ALL credibility video / author / people in it. Also, the information is pretty dated in the first video (only one I wanted all the way through) people talking about being "furthest progressed as you can get in the game" and it shows "level 70", You can't expect to show this video to any WoW gamer and have them take you seriously. I know development and interviews take time. But level 70 was nearly a year ago.
I did like the video in the fact I made it to the end. I didn't like the negative aspect it puts people in.
Unlike Khatovar, I DO shower in the blood of my enemies.
BRB gotta go tag this orc warrior with my guild signs for stepping on our side of Dalaran.

I concur that multiboxers are probably not your typical hardcore gamers.
I will take me as an example: 10 years ago I was hardcore. I could easily pull 24hour sessions when needed. 5 years ago I would still try to be hardcore. As I played Daoc on US servers I had to go to bed when I got home from work and wake up at midnight to raid/pvp. Thats when I started multiboxing so I could do everything in my own time.
These days I have a well paying job and 2 kids and other interests outside of work. I do not have time to suffer the fools when playing so I box exclusively. I havent done a single raid since 2.3 since I made the switch to EU servers (not even VoA or Ony).
I do miss raiding but I need to find a bunch of mature gamers in a similar mindset as me ie people that play infrequently but take playing seriously when they do play.

It was interesting and thanks for bringing it here.
Everyone of these video game documentaries always has some old physiologists in them talking about how anti-real world, destructive games are to the person. In would be interesting in 10-15 years when most of those who had no interaction with games die off and the new breed of therapists, politicians and the like who most likely had somekind interaction growing up with games/internet talk about them.
I think a one topic that should be covered is "Escapism". The reason why people are drawn to play games. You should have asked those in the interviews, if video games of any kind were never developed what would you be doing instead. Just a wild guess most would say."Watch more TV or Movies".

I never knew WoW was like this. Here I thought WoW was just a game...a virtual game world. Obviously it's not, it's a dangerous world where gangs run rampant. I should stop playing because you never know when I will be shot for wiping a raid. Oh no! I'm a guild/street gang they might not take too kindly to me leaving. I think I need the witness protection program.
Seriously though, how in the world can he think a guild is like a street gang!?!?
I think we'd be a dissapointment for the author of those videos. It may come as a shock to him that we have actual productive lives and our world does not revolve around this game.

WHAT!? HERETICS THE WHOLE LOT OF YOU!
WoW is life, and life is WoW.......
Oh sorry about the outburst, just fulfilling the expectation of the guy.
Even though I weigh 400lbs live in my moms basement and ugly to boot, I am in no gang!
/sigh its bad enough that people think like this, it does not help when a film only see's one aspect of the gamer on an already preconceived notion (<---- See that had to bust out a dictionary and look some words up for that one). Sorry to say that if you are not going to go over everything, the good, the bad and the ugly then your film/mockumentary will not be very good. Sure there are those that are hardcore and then there are those that are not so hardcore, like anything in life, there are drunks, then less drunks, then people that don't drink at all.
As others have put before, what would people be doing if the MMO was not out there? Watch more TV, people do this on there off time, some can do it all the time because they have nothing but off time others only very limited amount of time to play like a lot of the folks here that multibox.
