Hello Forums,

This is my first post and I would like to say hello again. So I have just started MBing and I am running with three shamans and they are currently at level 7.

I have so many questions and have been very busily searching these and other forums for answers but some things I just cant find and it might be a wording issue with the search engines and me.

But I was curious about 3x shaman teams and talents. Should i roll 3x ele or go 2x ele + 1x rest?

Also, is there any guide out there that takes you through the level process and shows how you should be spending your talent points and as you advance in levels how should you be changing your spell casting with new spells and the new macros that are now needed?

Thanks!

Keep all 3 elemental, you'll kill things faster this way. leveling elemental is kinda boring spell wise, you'll Lightening bolt spam until 32, then you'll have Chain lightening in the mix. Then you next big spell isn't until 75, when you get lava burst.

For talents, just focus on anything that helps your shocks (instant damage) and your LB / CL spells, avoid LvB talents if you can until 75.

Edit: We don't discuss that software here, if you would like general boxing info, great, but please do not mention that software.

Thanks for that info. So other then having a couple macros for my two spells and some healing ones. I just need to utilize my totems. Which totems should i be using? I would think they would all have a different combination.

It's not really important until you get a few more totems, and you should notice that dropping totems for just a regular kill isn't necessary, When i leveled my 3 I found that I only dropped totems for elite mobs, or when I wanted to take down a number of mobs at one time. For healing macros, just have 1 that does a /cleartarget /cast healing wave or lesser healing wave, so that you have a key that has everyone heal themselves. once you get chain heal, use this instead of HW/LHW.

Thanks for info again. I am sure I will be back soon though as I plan to pvp and that will yield new challenges. I know i need to start thinking about the best way to re-assign a new leader on the fly.

As far as software goes, I'll recommend IS Boxer.
There are a lot of good options, but its (imo) the best.

If you're just starting, you won't have a lot of totem options yet.
I have a 4x shaman + 1x paladin team; 3x shaman isn't that different.

Way down the road, you might dual-spec one of them to resto/elemental.
Even still you'll be 3x elemental for 90% of the time, or more.

Glyphing Totem of Wrath is worthwhile.
Have ToW on a hotkey, so they can all drop it at once.
Then drop your totem farm macro, which will only include one ToW since they don't stack.
This has all of your shammies get the spell power boost.

I like to have Earthbind, Fire Elementals, Stoneclaw, Thunderstorm (not a totem) and Tremor on round-robin.
Without a tank, Earth Elementals might be worthwhile on round-robin too.
You can do this via a multi-step keymap in ISB.
You can do this with just the wow macro system too.

Shaman 1:
#showtooltip Tremor Totem
/castsequence reset=5 Tremor Totem,,,

Shaman 2:
#showtooltip Tremor Totem
/castsequence reset=5 ,Tremor Totem,,

Put them on the same keybind, and then spam the key a bit.
For Tremor you'd want to spread them evenly over 3 seconds.

In addition to the round-robin, I like to have a few totem specific stomp macro's.
On a keybind I can drop:
-- 4x Cleansing
-- 4x Fire Nova (talented to stun, changing it in 3.3)
-- 4x Grounding.
-- 4x Magma Totem
-- 1x Mana Spring + 3x Healing Stream
-- 4x Searing Totem

I generally have three sets of totem stomp macro's.
I believe they are Call of Spirits, Call of Elements and something else.
One is my default set of totems.
One is my aoe set of totems.
One is my pvp set of totems.

Awesome write-up man. That answered a lot of my questions.

Shaman 1:
#showtooltip Tremor Totem
/castsequence reset=5 Tremor Totem,,,

Shaman 2:
#showtooltip Tremor Totem
/castsequence reset=5 ,Tremor Totem,,

Any reason for the extra commas on the end of those macro scripts?

My example macro's, are for shaman's 1 & 2, in a 4 shaman set up.

On the comma, no totem is placed.
With a three shaman group, you want the sequence to be 3 actions long.
With two no-actions, and one Tremor drop for each sequence.
That way on each push, one Tremor is dropped, and after three pushes we have 3 Tremors.

Shaman 1... Tremor,,
Shaman 2... ,Tremor,
Shaman 3... ,,Tremor

The reason for the reset=5, is to re-sync the shaman's with each other.
Since you'll likely press this rapidly for 3 seconds or so, it doesn't interfere with placing the totems.

I'd go with a much longer reset on Elementals, but its the same principle.

Commas in a macro make that particular shaman "skip" that button press. In other words, if there's a comma at that point in the cast sequence then the button press will be ignored and it will go to the next step in the sequence.

For example,

/castsequence ,,Spell

It will take 3 button presses to cast "Spell".

Oh ok that makes a lot of sense now. thanks.

That will be handy for pvp.
