View Full Version : [WoW] Easiest bosses to farm

I have tried a few Heroics and have downed a few bosses with much difficulty.

I was curious what you folks thought were the easiest bosses to farm right when you hit 80.

I am not too concerned with how many pulls before the boss or how remote the instance is.

Thanks

First boss of Gundrak, both sides. Incredibly easy.

Those are the two bosses I have downed so far.

I am still challenged with Heroics I have spent too much time leveling alts and not even refining my skills.
I figure if I can get 3 bosses a day I would be happy.

After Gundrak DTK has some easier bosses though the trash took me longer to figure out.

Gundrak, Drak and CoT are often the suggested starting heroics. Some also recommend VH. I think what's considered easier depends on your group make up. I'd give CoT a shot.

You could also try ToC normal, might be worth the gear.

I started out with Uthgard Keep(HC) & Azjol-Nerub then moved to ToC(regular), after i got done farming ToC ALOT, i was pretty much set for all the other instances(TOC HC too).

VH is easy if you can keep up with the trash.

UK is GREAT to learn on, As is DTK. Nexus isn't too difficult either but a couple movement fights may mess you up until you get the hang of them. CoS is easy as well once you learn how to pace yourself with trash.

According to Paeltress the Confessor, Coltimar is the easiest boss to farm :/ ToC on normal until all you get is 5 abyssal crystals is a great plan. You can do it all in 15-20 minutes once you get it down.

Hah, and what kind of emblems do you drop then? :P

LoL I wish. The bosses seem to be np, the hard part IS the trash.

I wipe more often on a pull w/ 5 usually a caster that summons or one of those ghouls get loose and 3 shots my healer before i can get him back to the tank (always the same pack group that does me in). Very frustrating. If I can be the encounter, those swarming undead make staying out of combat long enough to rez back in a chore.

Bosses I can get to so far are cake though.

The short answer is, It Depends On Your Team(tm). :P
If you don't have any nature resists and/or are short on AoE healing, Gundrak can be a real pain unless you outgear the place. If you do have better gear or good nature resists and AoE heals, all of Gundrak except the last boss is pretty easy. Go in on the snake side and jump off the ledge and swim over to Moorabi after Colossus. The snake boss can be a pain if you have trouble controlling the snake adds and get a few bad snake wraps.
DTK is fairly easy once you get past those damn soulcasters at the beginning hallway that drop the circles of shadow damage.
King Dred in DTK isn't bad, though a bad spread from one of his fears for anti-fear-lacking groups can be hard to recover from, especially if you're undergeared.
And of course, the final boss in DTK is about the easiest boss in the entire heroic system.
With some shadow resists, the 2nd boss in UK is easy.
With decent AoE heals, good positioning with the tank and enough luck to avoid a bad axe throw, the last boss in UK is easy, too.
The ice elemental boss in Nexus is easy if you can avoid the spikes.

Those are the ones I started with. Gundrak and DTK are the two easiest IMO, with Gundrak being easier for shaman teams and DTK being easier for just about everyone else with less AoE and nature damage in DTK.

My 2 copper, anyway. ;)

My fav and easiest farming is UK, GUN, DK, HoL, UP.
My least Fav that I can clear but not without issues is FoS and VH, Violet Hold mainly because some of the bosses are a pain and so you never know what you are getting and FoS is more about the thrash wipes, the Bone Shredders (or some name like that) does a huge AoE which has caused me several wipes in FoS. Also the first boss with the random fear in his second phase can cause lots of problems too :(

I'll add what I'm successful at so far. I'm a baddie so if I can do it.....good likelyhood anyone else can too;) lol.

-UK....easiest for me. Don't even lose 1 on end boss now( got lucky w/ that axe I guess). Shadow resist (priest) and frost resist (paladin) make Prince lol.
-Gundarak, Moorabi and Eck...Moorabi is tank and spank, interrupt if u can but I don't bother anymore. Eck, bitch doesn't hold still, but saw someone's video, tanking him stacked in a corner....lol. Yeah, easy now. Snake and Golem, wtf lol. I'll get back to them later.
-DTK, First boss....tank and spank, easy idk about anything else, I killed him, my heroic timer was to reset in 2 minutes so I bailed w/ the plan to go take a second bite 10 minutes later. (Havn't gone back in, been doing dailies for my Purple dinosaur)
-UP, first 2 are ok....wasn't pretty, but doable. lost 1 on the first boss Svalda(?), 2 boss, worm pissed all over me and I wiped (well, the boss wiped me....worm just happened to be the last of the ones before the boss). The bss itself, I got through....what's his debuff, directional? It kinda hurt..................Didn't try the gauntlet yet. That was painful for m to single box tank, w/ a better geared healer than mine.
-CoS, First 2 bosses are easy....I'm having problems w/ trash...yeah, lol.

So that's, 10 bosses for me so far. If I have time, I run the regular daily random for 2 badges, that usually runs smoother.
As I get another peice or 2 I'm sure another boss or 2 will come into play for me.

The guys in DTK who make puddles of death, are the hardest part of my team in that instance.

I've only tried DTK, UK (both on farm, successful first run, a couple deaths in each, wiped on frost tomb boss due to line of sight (had dps targeting frost tomb's automatically, but positioned so they could not cast at them)). With positioning, totems in the middle, then two on either side angled so they can see each other and the boss, pull the boss into the totem forest, its pretty easy.

Violet Hold, depends on the bosses. Sometimes its easy and sometimes, not a chance at it. Trash is fairly easy for my team, but my Pally far outgears most heroics, I have three shammies on the team for resists along with the pally aura and cleansing/healing stream and tremor rocks in places too.

Did Halls of Lightning, as a random. Wiped a few times, but that's from not having run heroics for over a year on any toon, and not bothering to look up the bosses abilities. Still finished it, two deaths per toon.

Considering adding Gundrak and CoS to the mix, don't think either will be that hard.
But, spending a lot of time on dailies (run 2-3 teams, through the Icecrown stuff daily) and then the Feral Druids and Warlock teams leveling.
Also looking into learning Alchemy for the transmutes; have 22 toons who either know alchemy or have an open profession slot and are 68+.
At least 5k gold per toon, and epic flyers for every toon (still need them horde side, with only 11k gold there, but toons are 22nd level) prior to Cataclysm is a goal.

For snake boss, I park casters at the back of the circle on the floor. I bloodlust at the start. About 1/2 way thru fight I drop a fire elemental to deal with the snakes. Other then that I just DPS down. Its gotten easier as my gear got better.

On colossus. Space your characters out so they arent overlapping. Drop a Nature resist totem. That will trivialize the goo on the floor. As I pull him in, I spin him to make him spit towards his altar. That gives me time to target and taunt. I have a chain heal sequence for my 3 shammies, but I typically only have to cast it once. The fight is getting faster now, but at first it was easy, just a little slower using this method. I never bothered trying to move everyone around, it was just easier to stand still as some had suggested here.

The last boss, I set up in his room in the area to the right. I dont spin him. That way he bounces me toward my casters. I have a key that i use to interact with target on press 1 and to hit down arrow on second tap to basically cause me to auto face on my other characters. In that spot, the fight has been simple since no one gets knocked out of range.

The only boss I hate is Eck in Gun, just all the jumping around makes him annoying, otherwise the rest of the bosses in Gun are tank and spank. The snake boss I always stand my toons on the ramp, this avoids the snakes and if some do get to my toons the boss is nearly dead and I ignore the snakes.
The last boss is tank and spank with lots healing to anyone that gets spiked.
I never move toons in any of the dungeons listed in my fav except for the first part of DK where the black holes sometimes require me to strafe my team. At this point it seems that I often nuke my way through so fast that I get no black holes being cast.
I am really not sure what happened with Prince in UK, it used to give me a lot of issues with his tombs, now I actually have the achievement for him not casting tombs. Even when I get tombed it is still a nuke fest and only takes a sec to dps the tomb with my tank. Prince is dead most runs before he gets a chance to do anything lol.

Oh, FYI, I did all of the stuff I mentioned in my previous post (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showpost.php?p=263294&postcount=11) with gearscores of 2600-3000. Basically, crafted purples off the AH + a few quest blues + a few quest greens.

I agree with Ughs post. My team started out in blues with Titansteel Guardian's for their first heroic foray - hit up CoS and Gundrak as well as poking the bosses in UK for the first week or two.

Just a note for DTK,

Novos and King Dred are skippable bosses if they give you trouble. That makes for easy pickings of the end boss for a Frozen Orb and purple drop item

Ah kool, that makes it easier. Didn't even think to try that.

My basic wow strat is to make everything as easy as possible. I was lucky enough to run heroics on my pally in pugs and gear my tank with every piece of top gear you could get before in only 5 man dungeons before icc even released. We all box and unless you are doing something horribly wrong you hsould have gobs of gold. I have enough money to gear out my startitng 80 team in all the best crafted epic pieces and thats basically where I start. I would not even waste my time trying to do heroics in blue gear as you will just get bored wiping all the time from one missed key or taunt. My dps is always caster type I don't mess with melee for pve because it's not easy casters are. The easiest heroics to do are nexus, gundrak, drak thron keep, utgarde keep,CoS,azjol nerub, and violet hold. Your best bet is to farm badges and buy the gear. Since release of ICC and the abilioty to do the same heroic multiple times a day via the random dungeon makes things a breeze. Once you get 80 percent of your gear above lvl 213 things get insanely easy. I still laugh at the fact that my tank has over 35k hp and still wears the flipping tattered castle drape which will be upgraded to the frost badge tanking cape in another week of just doing the daily random. My point is don't set yourself up to fail or you will just get frustrated and want to quit. I refer to the dungeons I listed as easiest to farm for one they dont require much movement of the slaves for the most part its either park them or just have them on follow. I used to hate doing CoS and VH because I like to drink beer and leave the keyboard if I have to piss or something and you can't really do that when you do those two. I just did a h CoS yesterday and I was amazed at how easy it was to just get bronze drakes now. I made it to the time keeper with 5 mins to spare, never drank once, and finined the instance at dam near full health and mana after malganis. Either my gear is just that overpowered for these old 5 mans now or they seriously nerfed that instance. I could do the heroic mode before the icc 5 mans there but not get to the drake guy. If you are just starting heorics I would suggest really gearing up your tank like I did through pugs or buying the best crafted stuff you can get. As long as your tank can hold agg the rest is a breeze.
