I was looking to find out if I could buy trial cards, for the keys, and then upgrade the accounts. I can't recall seeing if you could do that on here. Just trying to save some cash. I would have done invite a friend thing, but I wanted to find out about this first. thanks for the info guys.

You can save some money by inviting a friend to wow. he (well actually you) will get a 10day trial. You can do that up to 5 times. just go to the wow homepage, click on the ''invite a friend to wow'' button. Mail it to your own email. Follow the instructions in the mail and you are done.

Its good to try out Dual Boxing with this.

I do not recomend using a friends account since it is against Blizzard their policy and if they find out it leads to a permament Ban. So be carefull

cool, thanks. That is what I wondering. So, you can send it to the same address then? sweet. I was gonna try out that Scrolls of Resurrection thing to invite the trial accounts and then just upgrade them, just to save some money buying all the cd keys. Thanks for the help.

Only problem is, unless it's changed in the last week or two, you can't upgrade from trial to full account in the website. You still need a cd-key to do so, so it still means buying a cd-key/box set/etc.

The trial is good, however, for testing. =)

No way round actually buying a CD key for each of the games. Though it can be cheaper to get the Battle Chest Version. WoW + TBC + some crappy guide. This is I think quicker install too, as the previous versions came on CD (4x for WoW 3x for TBC IIRC), the battle chest versions come on DVD, I'm not sure about what patches ship with that version. However its worth shopping around, several high street retailers dropped the price of both WoW and TBC when battle chest shipped and I have heard that some people got both parts for less than Battle Chest version...

As for the bonus time either through scroll of resurrection (SoR) (how cool would those be in-game :D) or through the referral program (RP), you get the bonus time on the account that you used to activate SoR/RP when the account is either activated for another month (SoR) or upgraded from a trial to a full game (RP).

well crap, I figured you could upgrade it during the trial and download it online. I was gonna get a Battlechest for the DVD versions of the game though : ) My old 5 disk version of WoW is hurtin, lol I was gonna buy some of the old wow's at Best Buy the other day,but all they had were those 5 disk versions. You'd think that they would be selling all DVD versions by now. Well, thanks for all the info guys.

Create your trial using refer-a-friend (see account admin on wow website)

Buy an account by either:
a) buying battlechest / orig wow / orig wow + bc from a retailer
b) buying orig wow / orig wow + bc from an online dealer like shatteredcrystal.com or direct2drive.com - typically instant delivery of your cd key
Upgrade your accounts from trial to full version at any time - you get the 10 day trial plus instant upgrade to whatever version you bought (plus any bonus gametime from reg wow is tacked on after your 10 day trial)

Suvega and I found that buying a cheapo $1.99 trial cd from your local retailer DOES help immensely as it includes many patches that are dusty old regular wow boxes don't have, which speeds up the install process. Additionally, they don't require like 5 cd's to swap between 5 different computers. Who knows why.
