started boxing yesterday using IS and after some relatively painless setup, began to play around with 5 toons at a time. Eventually using alot of trial and error i managed to from movement and control to marginally more advanced things.
However, pretty much all of this went to shit when one of my chars went on strike and now pretty much refuses to do any action other than follow. After a bit more playing around it turns out that he appears to be unable to aquire targets like the rest of the team, a problem that has pretty much sufaced out of nowhere as he had no trouble doing it about 20 minutes before hand. Its also pretty hard to work out what exactly could of caused this as it probably took me awhile to notice. Because im shit like that.
Anyway, i decided to wipe my IS settings clean, restart the wizard and go back to basics to see if this solved the problem. It didnt. so then i tried returning all my WoW and jamba settings to defaults to see if this helped. Again, it didnt. Now im just completely out of ideas, and if somebody could graciously point out the error in my ways it would be much appreciated. Before i put my fist through the monitor in rage.
Much appreciated:)

Open ISBoxer Toolkit.
Right click on ISBoxer at the top.
Select "Copy ISBoxer Toolkit Profile to Clipboard".
Go to a site like www.pastebin.com
Paste your profile there.
You might want to remove references to your account names.
Link it here.

problemchar isn't in your Character Set, slot 2 is empty. So this is why that toon would not be receiving any keymaps.

it seems to be receiving the keys, as my problem char gives a "no target" message. If i manually select the target on him then it goes as it should, so the problem seems to be in target aquisition

the majority of them are being created by IS, with the exception of a few ingame and my heal macros which were done by myself.

This thread is a good example of why ISBoxer is sorta a bad thing. Let me explain.
While ISBoxer gives you instant setup, it doesn't teach you the basics of how it all works. Like giving someone a car and teaching them to drive, never explaining them that its going to run out of fuel at some point.I think you may be under the impression that everyone want and enjoys taking the time (and it's not simply a few minutes) "having a firm grasp of the macro system." My guess is that when you (and most others here) started multiboxing, you didn't take time to firmly grasp the macro system and likely would have tried an "auto-setup program" before you understood everything. I'm also not really understanding how ISBoxer (or any other prog) somehow prevents people from learning the macro system by offering an easy way to get people started ... I see it more akin to giving someone a car and offering them automatic vs standard. You still need to learn the rules of the road, you just have a bit less to worry about out of the gate.

I don't see any program as much use, if you are clueless of the macro system in wow.
Macro's open so many doors for us, and let us play how we want to play.
Sure something like ISBoxer will provide auto assisting via the wizard.
At least for 1 through =.
So for someone totally clueless to macro's, it helps out a lot.
I see Fursphere's point though.
And I see the point of a wizard.
I would personally have liked a wizard like interface.
Which plays an audo or perhaps a video in a window.
And that instructs us to click here and do thing.
Explaining along the way, why we're doing something and what it does.
Zanthor's post, which is somewhat outdated because of the Wizard.
Is extremely useful, because it explains how to do almost everything manually.
It is highly recommended, because its so useful in teaching how IS works.
The wizard gets us playing fast.
And demonstrates what the program can do.
The tutorial explains, with a ton of pictures.
Sure there are a few videos put together too, and they're good.
But they go rather quickly, especially when you're new and don't know the program.
A download video, in high resolution would be good.
But the program is also updated frequently, which changes some of the things too.

For what it's worth: I'm new to multiboxing, and on top of that new to the game (doing both for about a month now). The RAF system is awesome cause after making 5x lvl 60 shamans I could just make a free lvl 60 paladin, priest & druide. Now the downside: with the 3x speed, your level supersedes your 'knowledge' very fast. Meaning that besides casting the regular spells and using a few straightforward totems, I haven't really used my class to its full extend. Not to mention that I now have a 60 paladin, priest & druide that have (had) no gear, no spells and where I'm clueless how to play them (for now I switched 1 shaman for the pally tank).
And that is in line with what fursphere is saying imo: the excitement to start playing and leveling up fast without having a real clue is the same as the excitement when you first multibox. Taking some time to figure out something more than just the very basics is a win in the long run.
That's what I did with my multiboxing: I deinstalled all suggest plugins, used a very basic key broadcasting script and started to improve my macro's by adding more complexity by the hour. Once I'm confident that I *master* macro multiboxing, I might replace it with plugins/programs that automate/wizard it. And I'm sure that a new world will open. My point being: this approach has saved me lots of trouble and gained me more knowledge about what i'm doing macro-wise than when I would use a 'wizard'. But of course what works for me doesn't necessarily works for someone else.

I ghetto multiboxed DAoC before moving to WoW. I say ghetto as I wasn't really multiboxing as we know it today. Was basically running 4 PCs and 4 clients with 4 mice to do it. It worked pretty good as I was mostly doing PVE anyway, and DAoC wasn't like WoW -- you actually had one or two characters whose sole job was buffing the group and then standing there looking useless. So I really only drove 2 at a time at most.
When I got tired of soloing in WoW, I made a 2nd account and tried that. Still sucked almost as bad as solo. Then I saw Team Wizzy's videos actually doing 4 PBAoE toons in DAoC from one keyboard/mouse and knew I had to do that in WoW. Of course, this was before I found out about dual-boxing.com and (if I recall correctly) before keyclone/octopus/etc. were even created. Wrote a little client-server app in VB5 that did your basic key broadcast. Tested it on two accounts and it worked, so I bought the other 3 accounts and never looked back.
TL;DR = I knew how to macro and multibox before finding the more advanced tools to do it. I agree that having a tool that automates everything is fine, until that tool stops working. Then you're stuck with no clue how to fix or even diagnose the root cause of the problem.

I am a fan of auto configs I really like the one in ISBoxer. If you do not want to use the Auto Wizard than do not.
I provide support and consultation on high end test equipment most of our equipment has an auto mode and I will tell my customers that they should not use it as a crutch but more of a jumping off point.
With ISBoxer I set up the auto wizard and than tore apart what it was doing and how it did it. Reverse engineering so to speak.
We all think and work differently if you want to do research and dig into the application and learn as you go that is great. If you want to just push a big button and play that option is nice to have. ISBoxer gives you both options.

I like that there are wizards, which can get you going fast.
If that's all you want to do.
I prefer reverse engineering the wizard, or at least trying to understand how it works.
A post like Zanthor's "Zero to Hero" is closer to my preferred method.
It says click here like this (so I have to do it myself).
But then explains what we are doing and why we are doing it.
The Youtube video's are good too.
But they go fast and some are for older versions.
With a different means to achieve the same result now.
All in all, extremely happy with IS Boxer.
