**** It's kind of interesting to see my server (Sargeras) as a source and Mal'Ganis as a destination considering they're both launch servers but Mal'Ganis forever was a high population -- actually, it still is but everyone just went horde.

A quick census check reveals the overall A:H ratio is 1 : 2.5 and the active player ratio is 1 : 5.4 -- holy crap!

So that means for every two alliance players, there are 10 horde. Thank you faction change! lol

It makes me me hopeful that Blizzard is serious about re-balancing the racials (there was a post about this sometime ago when they talked about how racials will need to be updated to be brought on par with the new stuff -- personally I'd love for something better then gift of the band aid and 1% hit that doesn'st stack! :)

We will be offering free character moves from select realms to assist in ratio balancing. The ability to move a character on the selected source realms will become available starting on Thursday, November 5, at 11:15am PST and end them on Thursday, November 12, at 11:15am PST.

For the first group, Cho'gall is a Central time zone realm in the Rampage battlegroup and Mal'ganis is a Central time zone realm in the Stormstrike battlegroup. For the second group, Thaurissan is an Oceanic time zone realm in the Bloodlust battlegroup.

In the event that these realms meet our transfer goals before the scheduled end date, the transfers to or from any realm may be disabled. We highly recommend that if you are planning to transfer that you do so at your earliest convenience. No characters will be eligible for these free moves once the transfers have been closed.

You can begin your transfer by visiting the Character Move page located here: https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/character-move.html

I leveled a BE mixed team to 70 and leveled a shaman team to 80 without RAF, all old school leveling, on Thaurissan. The population imbalance was on Thaurissan ever since I started on the server. Seeing Alliance while leveling is like a system shock. I feel so bad about the population imbalance that I don't even gank Alliance in fear of them getting frustrated and quitting / transferring.

So I doubt very much that the faction change option made any real impact on population imbalance.

I leveled a 1 pally/4 shammy alliance team from 1 to 70+ in Thaurissan (no RAF). Great pain with constant gank + camp by horde players. Free transferred to Gundark when the server opened. Now I kind of regretted it. No chance of pay back..

For anyone thinking about Cho'Gall, that doesn't already know, it's a pretty barren wasteland for alliance, there is the biggest A:H imbalance on any server according to WCR. It would be a nice challenge, but blah. just a heads up.

1: 11.3 active alliance:horde ratio.

Holy crap! Seems like most of the servers are horde favored since the faction change became available. Lots of min/maxers and let's be honest, if it wasn't $35 per toon (plus $25 for the server transfer if you go that route), who among us wouldn't roll orc for the +spell power racial? Thats a free trinket right there =P

I ended up moving 4 of my shaman from Alliance -> Horde same server and in one week in crappy hateful gear I went from 0 rating to 1152 with no heals and running with a warlock. Only played like 40 games total too. Orc racials are too good to pass up ATM.

I would be nice to have the racials more balance. I'm an alliance player, and PvP in particular is just so terribly depressing. WSG is a joke. There's always a few in each group who try to encourage the others into team play, but we always seem to have a lack of healers and an abundance of HK heroes, dying in the middle.

I don't want to faction change, however. I'm in a neat guild, have friends here and such. I just hope they can better balance it, so a lot of the good players don't flock to one side, or the other. I know Horde have gotten a lot of bads recently from those who transferred with TBC and faction changes, but it's not enough to offset those who acknowledge horde racials are superior and thus choose the wise choice of rolling horde.

I'm not saying there aren't good alliance players, or bad horde players. I'm just saying that there's high concentration of good players on horde. hehe.
