Hey all.
I have a quick question for those in the know.
I have an 80 paladin tank (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nathrezim&n=Ripvantinkle).
The rest of my team is 77.
Mage (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nathrezim&n=Gobbledegook), Warlock (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nathrezim&n=Grimhilde), and Druid (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nathrezim&n=Diamklim) for DPS.
Priest (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nathrezim&n=Dethrin) heals.

I'm wondering if my dps guys are doing decent dps or not.
When should I expect them to surpass my tank as highest dps in the group?

Was doing Gundrak last night and here's the recount:
Ripvantinkle: 1593
Grimhilde: 1050
Gobbledegook: 857
Diamklim: 828

Should I expect more from my guys or what?
Thanks for any input.

Without seeing your macros or armory profiles it's tough to judge what you should be doing. I started out dpsing my tank when I started heroics.

Those numbers seem a bit low, but a lot depends on gear, spec, macros, and other factors. Plus, certain encounters really drag down dps for specific toons (like Eck for hunters), which could skew your overall tally. I generally expect my dps toons to pump out 1000+ dps by level 75. With basic mid-70s blues and crafted purples, I expect 1500+ dps as a new lvl 80, scaling to 2000+ with some quick badge and drop upgrades.

In your case, I'd want my Mage and Druid to be near 1200 at lvl 77, and if I've chased any blues at all, I should be near 1500 when I ding 80. For reference, my boxed lvl 73 Elem Shaman does roughly 1100 dps against even con mobs, and my lvl 76 holy priest (specced for smite damage) puts out a modest 1000 dps, but also has access to much of the Disc tree for utility.

If you feel that your toons are geared decently, you may want to check out Fursphere's macro compendium (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=25253) for some good ideas on that front. Often, a misplaced character in a macro can cost you a lot of dps potential.

Those numbers are exactly what I'd expect from DPS in greens and low-level blues.

Thanks for the responses.
I'm gonna switch my final guy over to click macros and see how I fare.

None of your DPS toons are 80th yet.
So I wouldn't really be concerned at all.

However, if you'd like critique, posting your dps macro's.
And posting an armory link, let's us see what you've done.
And possibly suggest improvements.
Depending on spec some glyphs are better then others.
Depending on class, certain attributes are better then others to stack.

I posted the armory links in the original post.
I went back and looked it over. my recount info was from trash outside gundrak, not inside the instance.
Here's the real info:
Rip: 1817
Grim: 1398
Gob: 1205
Diam: 991
That's better.
If you guys want to critique the glyphs and builds, feel free to use the armory links above.

Ahh, yes that's much closer to what I'd expect. In fact, you're in pretty good shape on everyone except the Druid. You might want to check out Fur's Druid macro, as I'd guess that for most fights you're spending a lot of time casting FF, IS & MF, which probably don't run their full course, thus hurting your dps.

Anyway, I wouldn't be too alarmed. You only need some fine-tuning to get where you want to be.

I wouldnt worry too much about dps till you hit 80. My tank still beats my dps on overall damage done sometimes because I pull big groups and the tank is pretty much aoe'ing the whole time. Your main focus is going to be gearing the tank up asap so dont be suprised if he outperforns your dps :)

OK, thanks again for the responses.
I switched over to fur's boomkin macro with the 2 buttons.
I NEVER notice the eclipse proc and haven't found anything that makes it easier for me to notice it and so my dps with that macro was way low, like 300.

I read about proculus(sp?) addon that someone uses for that purpose.
However, I looked it over and can't find a way for it to alert me on my paladin when my boomkin's eclipse procs.

MSBT is a great addon for procs.
There's a thread by Nolife in the movies section (youtube link) which explains setting it up.

Alternatively, Furspere suggested in another thread, to change the last portion of the IS-MF-Wrath/Starfire macro to:

#show
/castsequence Wrath, Wrath, Wrath, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire

That approximates switching between the two, usually getting you 2-3 casts of whatever has the Eclipse bonus at any given time. It also allows you to mash one button, without caring when a proc occurs.
