View Full Version : Battlemaster's Trinket versus WG spell power trinket

I picked up my cloak last night which finishes off my off peice set of relentless gear - which means after the small amount of honor needed for the weapon (come on 1850 this week!) I've have only one peice left to buy with honor - the relentless battlemaster's trinket.
I have the deadly version and I use it when I run as resto in 2v2 and 3v3 but I was thinking it may be better to have a constant +150 spell power with a +4600 HP /use then the spell trinket that increases spell power by 440 for 20 seconds and adds resiliance.
Once I get the weapon, with the battle master's trinket all of my shamans would have just over 2900 spell power w/ totem and you can use the trinket + stoneclaw togather for a instant boost of 9k HP which is helpful for surviving the initial burst of wizard and melee cleave. I'm debating if that's enough to outweigh popping up to 3100 +spell power for an inital burst.
Thoughts?

I love it. Can't beat 150 more base spellpower. My shamans are at almost 3100 spellpower base now in arena, and I love it.

Do you ever find that you miss the +440 spell damage pop trinket? I like the idea of having nearly 3700 spell power, even if its only for 15 seconds, for that kill shot. But seems to me, that the 440 sp bonus < hand mounted pyro rocket, and I would gain a 4300hp popper and 150 spell damage all around (for the other 80% of the time when the platinum disks aren't up). Losing 95 resil kinda sucks though.
Given I don't have professions on any of my alts, I may just try engineering, if it can be done for 4-5k for 4 toons.

I don't miss it, no. I feel they are relatively equal.
While I believe more strongly in SP versus direct damage cooldowns (given they are equal) - I feel that 440-599 spellpower clickables just do not equal the ~10k you get from rockets. When you factor in the cost and time of engineering was next to nothing compared to enchanting (~1.3k versus 3k and hours of clicking manually each time), I'd say engineering is a winner. If they come out with a 800 or more clickable SP trinket, I'll probably switch back cause I'm an extremist and the heals+dmg would be god mode for those 20 seconds... but for now I like rockets just fine.
I also absolutely love finding uses for parachutes in battlegrounds, and engineering allowed me to switch around my gem scheme too (altho it wasn't a increase really).
And yes I love the battlemaster 150sp trinket. SP 4 Life.

yes I've always wanted to use the other engineering tricks as well, like the parachute.
If you can do it for 1.3k per toon and no clicking, I think I'm gonna go for it this weekend. I was afraid it'd be another enchanting type... 3-4k per toon and mind numbing.

I used this guide:
http://www.wow-professions.com/wowguides/wow-engineering-guide.html
and it was pretty accurate. Keep in mind you only need 405 to use all the pvp goodies, 450 gets you wormhole generator and Jeeves if you really want it.

My priest and I got in a few games, we beat our first legit 2k team -- we had them twice. The first time we nearly won
Resto sham, mage, warrior, holy paladin and I forget the 5th -- first time we killed the warrior and paladin but the mage just kept my healer tied up with polys and counter spells and we lost -- we lost 2pts, they gained 1 or 2... then we lost to a 1600 team.. I mean, wow I couldn't believe it, the rogue got knocked out of stealth from my magma totems and used vanish.
Anyhow, so next game I accidently pop hero during the prep, it fades right as the match starts and its the 2200 team again. I remembered that the mage was the key this time and used my trinket to get out of nice nova, purged him and popped him, after that it was easy. They lost 22 points and we gained 21 points - I bet they were pissed!
Oh man, since I've found the right healer for me its totally changed my out look on arenas, now I feel like gladiator is totally possible.
So I've decided to get the trinket but only once I have my weapon/shield -- before then the loss of 95 resil could be counter productive but replacing PvE weapons/shields with PvP relentless ones will make up for that.
Also, I don't have any professions... its not really the cost but rather the time but I was thinking about mining and engineering - does the pyro rocket glove thing have a GCD? The extra 600 HP from mining wouldn't hurt and its cheaper then doing enchanting or jewel crafting for minor +SP increases.

There is no GCD on the pyro rocket, which makes it great with your nuke macro.
There's no point in leveling mining. It can't be bought, just takes dozens of hours of time to level. And it's identical to having blacksmithing with 2 epic stam gems - only you can't mix and match.

I'd be sitting at 1800+ if we had the rockets :) Had a few teams that we lost because I couldn't quite burst them down -- I ran tonight with both healers (priest and druid) -- spent the first 3 or 4 hours going back and forth -- up to 1770, down to 1750.. finished tonight at 1782 at least before my druid had to log -- the good news is he's now really close to 1750 which will mean replacing his blue cloak with relentless :)
