Thought i'd jump on here for some advice from all you boxing pros.
I am four boxing with a paladin healer (I know i'm prolly crazy). I have been using a
/target focus
/cassequence reset=30 sacred shield, beacon of light
and a
/targetparty
/cast flash of light
spam with limited success.
Does anyone run a paladin healer out there?
How do you guys suggest approaching healing heroics with a paladin healer?
I was wondering if there is a way to set a defined order to who is getting targeted in the party for the heals? /targetparty can be random sometimes and one of my dps ends up not getting heals in time. Also is there a way to include the caster in the pool of possible party members recieving the heal?
Like is there a way to target party1, heal, then target party2, heal, then party 3..., then self.... and repeat?
I think my healing output is adequate with the Flash of light spam, it's just that with the randomness of /targetparty one of my dps end up going down.
Any advice would be great
Thanks

Have targetting macros for each party member (including yourself)
/target <name of party member>
/cast flash of light
You can then switch to them and pop a heal - then carry on withyour usual healing macro.

Wow, boxing a pally healer.... You are brave my friend. I only play my pally as healer in raids when im not tanking, so i can swap my priest to shadow for dps. I use healbot personally, it works very well with paladins, given the lack of variety in healing spells for pallys. There's a lot of fights where the whole group takes damage, and there might not be time to heal everyone individually. Make sure you get the glyph of holy light, and use HL for "aoe" healing, its splash healing will help a bunch on fights like Drakkari Colossus. Also, dont forget to use judgement of light/wisdom, as it increases your haste, and therefore heals land quicker. Also, just because its a healer, doesnt mean it cant be used semi offensively. Paladins have a few tricks up their sleeves... near universal temporary CC with hammer, AoE undead stun helps a lot in Drak Tharon Keep. Bubble if you get aggro, etc etc. Just because you aren't a Disc priest doesn't mean you have to only be reactionary healing, be proactive, and try and prevent damage from happening in the first place. Just curious, but what's the rest of your team like?
Shaeman's method is a good one. You could also use IS boxer's mouse click passing, and use something like Grid, or healbot, and click heal it. Hell, you could probably just "drive" from the pally healer, and just use the tank as a "slave"
I would go with 2 basic macros, one that heals the healer, and if beacon is up on the tank, you always will be healing the tank anyway, and a direct heal on whoever has aggro, using targettarget. Maybe even bind that heal to a taunt on the target, so you will cast a pre emptive FoL on anyone who pulls aggro, or gets targeted by a boss with strange abilities (like instructor razuvious, he targets a random raid member, and chucks a knife at em, which does about 10k damage, and im sure there's other similar things that im not thinking about now.
That way you have a mindless "heal whoever probably needs it" button. Then for more focused healing, just use the target macros, and cast the heal of choice, from your massive list of 3 healing spells...
To target yourself, you have to use /targetplayer or /cast [target=player] the other targets are just like you said, /target party1 /target party2 etc etc. Note, that the order of party members is different on each toon, with the toon being party1 all the time, and usually party2 is the leader. You can also do it by name if you want to be absolutely sure.

I changed my F1-4 macros for healing party member other than the tank directly (which include yourself). The 1-5 keys are my normal fight keys so its very little effort to hit a direct heal. It takes a bit of getting used to being party member -1 but its become habit.
I also since I have a pally tank use the "Clique" in combination with "Grid" to be able to BoP a party member in trouble or cleanse at a left or right click. Which normally allows enough time for my healer to hit them directly with a heal.

My main tank heal macro goes like this:
/target party1
/castsequence reset=combat Flash of Light,,,Flash of Light,,,Flash of Light,,,Holy Light,,,sacred shield,,,Flash of Light,,,Flash of Light,,,Flash of Light,,,Holy Light,,,
It takes care of things pretty well and refreshes sacred shield now and then
And then I have an alternate button I hit now and then for more big heals:
/castsequence [target=party1target] reset=combat judgement of wisdom ,,,,,,,,,,,,,
/castsequence [target=party1] reset=combat Holy Light,,Holy Light,,Holy Light
/castsequence [target=player] reset=combat ,Flash of Light,,,
That refreshes the Judgement and also sneaks in a little self healing.
Then I have 2 different panic heals, the instant one:
/stopcasting
/target party1
/cast Avenging Wrath
/castsequence reset=10 Holy Shock, Hand of Sacrifice, Flash of Light, Holy Light, Flash of Light
and the CD blower:
/stopcasting
/target party1
/cast Divine Illumination
/cast Divine Favor
/cast Holy Light
For party healing I use VuhDo with mouse passthrough regions so i just left or right click to give little or big heals.
Plus my DPS are Spriests so they can holy nova in a panic and they get Vampiric Embrace healing during boss fights.

Nice, thanks for the replies guys.
I can see that I have a lot to try. Thanks for all the good ideas
In answer to the question about my group make up, I am running a Prot Warrior, Mage, Hunter and the Paly (all alts leveled on my original account hence the unusual group composition.)

I'm a huge fan of assisting the mob for heals.
I have keybinds for dedicated heals to each toon, as mentioned above.
I also have heals, which assist the tank, or assist the tank's target's target looking for a friendly.
I use the assist type heals much more frequently.
Whoever the active toon is targeting gets the heal, if that target is friendly.
Same principle for buffs.
#show Flash of Light
/assist tank
/cast [help] Flash of Light; [target=targettarget, help] Flash of Light; [target=targettargettarget, help] Flash of Light
#show Renew
/cast [target=targettarget, help] Renew; [target=targettargettarget, help] Renew; [target=targettargettargettarget, help] Renew
#show Rejuvenation
/cast [target=focustarget, help] Rejuvenation; [target=focustargettarget, help] Rejuvenation; [target=focustargettargettarget, help] Rejuvenation
Pretty basic, whichever assist method you use. With an FTL, it would be:
#show Spell
/cast [help] Spell; [target=targettarget, help] Spell; [target=targettargettarget, help] Spell
