missposted this in the beginners forum, probably should have asked here....

Current setup:

zmd x2 4400+
2gb of cas2 ddr
8800gtx
win xp
24" monitor main and 17" secondary monitor (usually flipped)
Keyclone + 5 accounts

So on one screen I can run 5 accounts no problem with keyclone's maximizer and maxfps set at 60 and maxfpsbk set at 20...

However I hate this setup and would like to run one window @ 1920x1200 and the other 4 on a second monitor.

Horizontal span doesn't work for me well with this hardware since I am then limited to 1280x1024 on the 24" and even though it does scale well in the nvidia drivers (with the keep aspect ratio option) it bugs me to not be in widescreen.

Main wow uses 400-700mb of ram with all the options turned on and tons of addons running.
each of the 4 clients uses ~200mb of ram.
xp uses ~200mb of ram.

So would you A: buy a second 1920x1200 monitor (probably this 28" lcd http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254026). This way I could run in true horizontal span under xp, have a main 1920x1200 and then 4 800x600's on the 24" monitor.

or B. get a q6600, 4 gb of ddr2, a new mobo and run vista (have a 32bit license would need to possibly buy a 64bit license) use vista's correctly working dual view, run 1 @ 1920x1200 on the 24" and 4 640x480 on the 17"?

Make sure your graphics card can render 1920x2400 or 3840x1200... many can't.

alternatively go Vista :s and don't span

pretty sure it can, I've done 3200x1200 with it before... I think the max for the gtx is 5120x3200 (2560x1600 x two dual-link dvi connections)
